Foss has over 30 years of experience in credit markets, and his breadth of knowledge was put on full display during the podcast as the two discussed leverage in the financial system; investment strategies and hedging optionality using a small, long VOL allocation with a majority bitcoin position; and bitcoin as the ultimate solution to the fiat ponzi. For this special edition of the Bitcoin Magazine Podcast Matt Odell sits down with Bethany Hamilton and her husband Adam Dirks. Bethany is an American professional surfer who survived a 2003 shark attack in which she lost her left arm and who ultimately returned to professional surfing. Bethany and Adam both take faith very seriously and as they discuss their Bitcoin journey, they mention Thank God for Bitcoin by Jimmy Song and several other Bitcoiners, which makes the case for why corrupt money is bad for humanity and how Bitcoin redeems sound money for the world. Freelance model, makeup artist and photographer Jessica Vaugn, best known for her work with Playboy, started tumbling down the bitcoin rabbit hole in 2020. She says it completely changed her life and the way she views the world. As a freelancer, she’s always been keen on making independent choices. But it wasn’t until the pandemic lockdowns, she says, that she realized government-run economic systems limit her personal freedoms. Now, thanks to a penchant for books like “The Bitcoin Standard” and networking with bitcoiners on Twitter, Vaugn says she’s using bitcoin to hedge against the risks of government overreach and inflation. She’s not worried about price volatility, since she’s not hoping to get rich quickly by trading cryptocurrencies. She’s only interested in bitcoin, not anything else in the sea of digital assets, because that’s what she feels is most aligned with her ideological perspective. She says the bitcoin ethos is all about freedom, privacy, and security. And considering the strict pandemic protocols forced on the residents of Los Angeles over the past year, those values have become more important to her now than ever before.   For Vaugn, 2021 is a year of investing in herself by growing her newfound bitcoin knowledge to reshape her career. As Hollywood unions tighten their grip on work opportunities in Los Angeles, Vaugn is flying to Miami to meet experts from the bitcoin community. She’s not sure what the future holds, but she does know having custody of her own bitcoin can offer peace of mind in uncertain times. Welcome to a very special Bitcoin 2021 inspired Panel on the Bitcoin Magazine Podcast. Both Cathie and Anthony believe that the environment is important but also believe that Bitcoin’s incentive structure will continue to push it more and more towards renewables.  Lastly we dive into the macro market conditions that investors need to take into account when assessing Bitcoin’s potential market. Wood and Scaramucci take turns breaking down the implications of negatively yielding debt, the everything bubble, deflation, and intermingled counterparty risk all market participants are exposed to.  We close out with Bitcoin price predictions for the year. Congressman Davidson burst into the Bitcoin scene in 2019 when in a congressional hearing he mentioned the difference between Bitcoin and “shitcoins” officially putting the term Shitcoin in the official congressional record. Warren has a history in the military and then as an entrepreneur which has greatly shaped his world view and his understanding of the current fiat monetary and banking system. Congressman Davidson recognizes the importance of sound money in a free society and why Bitcoin is well aligned with American values.  Congressman Davidson is on the financial services committee in congress and is working hard to create more regulatory clarity for crypto in general in an effort to make America as competitive as possible for Bitcoin businesses to thrive. Congressman Davidson is acutely aware of how difficult it is today for a Bitcoin business to operate in the United States because of the lack of clarity and the purposely negligent attitude from the SEC regarding a Bitcoin ETF. Davidson is the coauthor of the Token Taxonomy Act which is supposed to bring an enormous amount of clarity and recognition of crypto to the US legal system. Bobby Cofounded the largest Bitcoin exchange in China BTCC before running into regulatory issues and ultimately selling the exchange in 2018. Since 2018 Bobby has been working on The Promise of Bitcoin to help Bitcoin curious newbies fast track the education process to learn why Bitcoin is important and why Bitcoin will be successful. The Book is filled with excellent examples and explanations to help a new bitcoiner understand where Bitcoin is going and why that is good for humanity. Lee also focuses on dispelling common myths about Bitcoin that have been spread in the mainstream and encouraging users to take self custody of their Bitcoin. The book is very focused on making Bitcoin digestible to a non technical audience.  We close out the interview with some of Bobby’s predictions for Bitcoin in the next 10 years.
