For the next three weeks we will be looking at issues that are widely debated in our culture. Andrew begins today by looking at how and why we care for creation.

Psalm 67 is a short song that connects blessing with praising. The psalmist reminds us that we are blessed with purpose, not just for us to have a comfortable life, but for our grateful lives to declare God’s goodness to the nations. That in turn leads to a glorious harvest of more people praising and more blessing.

In this wonderful Psalm of praise, David reveals a multi layered image of God as a redeemer, creator and provider. Each show his glory and draw us in to praise his name. Joe is our Downham site leader.

This week Steve Tibbert our Senior Pastor discusses Psalm 1 and how all our choices have consequences. These decisions can affect how fruitful our lives can be, producing good or bad fruit. Steve explains how applying the principles of Psalm 1 can often lead to a prosperous and blessed life.

As we conclude this series based out of the book Gentle and Lowly by Dane Ortlund let’s consider Jesus’ actions at the last Supper in John 13. Jesus demonstrates not only his love but his gentleness and humility towards the disciples, he knows they will betray, deny and leave him, yet he washes their feet and breaks bread with them. He promises to love them to the end – that love will hold him to the cross, will hold us through life and even through death. That love will never end. Hilary Dalziel is one of the pastors at our Catford site.

We are inherently law-ish. Our default is to revert back to ‘what can I do to please God’, rather than gratefully receiving the fruit of what he has done for us. God has shown us great mercy; in fact his very nature is that He is rich in mercy. His desire is that we truly enjoy the benefits of His mercy and experience His great love towards us. This week Joe looks at more of the character of God, revealed in Exodus particularly looking at how He is mecriful and gracious. Joe Macnamara is the leader of our Downham site.

Jesus is our Advocate with the father, pleading for us, standing for us. The anointed Christ, true mediator, reconciler, ruler, prophet, priest, king. One who cares for us, has our best interest at heart, knows us, is for us, pleads for us. In the high court of heaven, Jesus is our great advocate. Joe is our Downham site leader.

When Jesus clothed himself in our humanity, he took on with it, every aspect of what it means to be human, and emotions are an essential part of being human. This week, we look at how Christ lives out His emotions without allowing them to be affected by sin in the way that it has been for us. Neal Glanville is on of the pastors at our Lee site.

"This week, we look at look the heart of God in the Old Testament and see that the heart of God revealed there is exactly the same as the heart of God revealed in Christ. We are reading from Lamentations where we’re going to see His heart from the saddest chapter in the whole Bible, which comes in the centre of the saddest book in the whole Bible, in response to the saddest event in the whole Bible: exile. And although God does express anger, and he does judge his people, and he does bring painful things to pass sometimes, that’s not the essence of his heart towards us.
