We spend time breaking down the Pittsburgh Penguins' trade to get Erik Karlsson and wonder if this could be the last kick of the can for Sidney Crosby and company.   We also manage to fit in some talk about Chicago's hesitance to sign Jonathan Toews, the Edmonton Oilers and next year's impending free agents.

Dave Hodge is with Shannon today as we bring on former NHL agent of the stars and now the newest CEO of Hockey Operations for the Edmonton Oilers, Jeff Jackson. We get it all from Jeff today, finding out how the opportunity came about, what the transition of roles has been like, and where he is at with the Edmonton Oilers in terms of familiarity with the team. We also address the Oilers' recent playoff woes, their inconsistent goaltending, and get an idea of whether Connor McDavid has any plans to be an Oiler for life on today's show.

Trey Wingo makes his first appearance on The Bob McCown Podcast today, joining John and Richard for some football talk.    Trey brings us up to speed on what has happened throughout the league this summer leading up to the regular season as we take a look at the stacked QB talent in the AFC, Sean Payton's impact in Denver, the league's dark horses and much more.

Bill Shaikin from the LA Times fills us in on everything that went down during MLB's trade deadline yesterday. We talk winners and losers, buyers and sellers and set expectations for teams as we near playoff baseball.

As mentioned in the title Kenny Albert is the most versatile man in sports broadcasting and he's on the show today to chat with Richard and John.   It's not often a broadcaster is proficient in all four of the major professional sports leagues in North America but Kenny is and we try to find out how. The three break down Kenny's career from the minors to the big leagues as we learn about how he got to where he is now, who he's modeled his style after and how he prepares for a broadcast.    We also spend some time talking about "A Mic For All Seasons" his new book coming out in October and get some great stories of some interactions he's had with some of the biggest names in sports.

Richard Deitsch filling in for Bob this week as John and Richard are joined by The Athletic's Keith Law.   The three break down what we should expect in terms of player movement in Major League Baseball leading up to tomorrow's trade deadline. We focus on some of the sellers that have emerged so far before getting into what Keith thinks about the Jay's acquisition of Jordan Hicks and the team's apparent need for more batters.
