Aaron Binning: Leading A Generation Of Boys Into Manhood | EP 18
Aaron Binning is an experienced Social Worker, Educator & Youth Mentor.
For a number of years, Aaron put his focus towards supporting at-risk young people, gaining invaluable first hand experience, training and qualifications along the way.
Driven by his passion for creating positive change, Aaron came to Bali at the beginning of 2020.
This is where he created The Road, an initiative aimed at empowering and educating young men through experiential learning. Through his work he aims to enable young men to embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery, allowing them to understand themselves, their peers, and the world around them.
Aaron's vision is to equip young men with life lessons and skills through guidance that many of us missed out on. He firmly believes in the importance of human connection through self-expression and vulnerability, recognizing that the cultivation of these skills are often missed.
These past few months I've been connecting with a number of men who are fathers of young boys and it got me thinking:
What can we do in order to effectively allow our boys transition into maturity and manhood?
What is it that I and many of my fellow men missed out on that left a lasting impact on us?
And so with that, I wanted to engage in a discussion...
For anybody who is not a parent nor a young man moving through adolescence, my hope is that we still get to use this conversation as an access point to reflect on our own lives and past experiences. In my own exploration of what was absent during my upbringing and the impact this may have had on me; I've found such explorations to be empowering as it offered me the opportunity to intentionally provide myself with the things that I lacked.
For parents of young men, I hope this can illuminate an understanding of what may be present for them and how you may be able to support them.
A reminder: I want to humbly name that both Aaron and I are not fathers and neither of us want to assume to have any answers here, but the intention was begin a conversation – especially with Aaron's vast experiences of working with young men.

Aaron Kleinerman: What Does It Mean To Be An Embodied Man? | EP 17
Aaron Kleinerman is a transformational Tantric Coach, facilitator, speaker and author of the best-selling book „The Embodied Man“
After attending the marine academy, his career started off as a licensed merchant mariner, traveling the world, navigating ships and making a good salary. However, Aaron's life took an unexpected turn when he woke up one day, unable to move, on the very day he was about to embark on another mission
Something within him knew that this wasn't the path laid out for him, encouraging him to take action on the changes asking to be made. Following his intuition, he moved to California to pursue a master's degree in spiritual psychology, leading him down the path of supporting individuals in the areas of transformation and relationships.
Transitioning from navigating ships at sea, Aaron has shifted his focus to navigating souls in the realms of love, sex and leadership
Aaron and I first connected a couple of years ago at one of his men's retreat I participated at, which left a transformational impact on me.
In our conversation on this podcast, I explored Aaron's take & insights around men's work, relationship & sexuality drawing form the conversations we've had but also the rich perspective he provides in his book „the embodied man“ - which I've found to be an integrated outline of what it looks like to pursue mastery in all aspects of being a man.
The conversation that followed was a fun, deep, juicy and at times provocative exploration into a wide array of topics and I can't wait for all of you to listen in.

Alex Grendi: Navigating From Sexual Anxiety To Unwavering Confidence | EP 16
In this spicy conversation, I had the great fortune of welcoming Alex Grendi to the podcast.
Alex is a men's sex coach who helps men to overcome performance anxiety, erectile disfunction and premature ejaculation. His expertise lie in empowering men to become sexually sovereign, feeling more confident as lovers and cultivating deeper connections with their intimate partners both inside and outside the bedroom.
Before entering this field of work, Alex personally experienced all kinds of challenges and insecurities within the bedroom. And despite having had a number of sexual experiences, he consistently felt disconnected from himself and his partners, often experiencing fear, anxiety or relying on substances to navigate his sexual encounters.
Determined to find a path to deeper peace and connection, Alex embarked on a journey of self-exploration, so he can come into deeper understanding of the challenges he was having.
Along this journey, he quickly discovered the importance of taking ownership over our own sexuality, drawing from his research in the fields of Taoism and Tantra. Fascinated by his learnings, he decided to bring more attention to it.
And after being suggested to speak to a sex coach, Alex immediately felt the calling, eventually connecting with multiple coaches specializing in the realm of sexuality to bridge the gaps in his knowledge and understanding.
Now I am aware that the topic of sexuallty can be charged point of contact for many, including myself before I began my own journey of unpacking this area in my own life. But over the years, I've come to recognize this to be an essential conversation
Reflecting on my own personal journey and the many men I've had the opportunity to speak with and coach, the challenges within our sexual expression and how we can become more responsible are more prevalent than ever.
Within our society, I've come to recognize the lack of education that's truly needed in this field and with the exposure of distorted messages through pornography and a lack of competence to navigate our own sexual desires, the confusion and disconnect for many men is increasing.
My sincere hope with conversation like these is to offer men a new context beyond what they have been taught, inviting them into deeper self-acceptance, responsibility, and connection within their own sexuality.
By exploring this topic openly and honestly, my aim is to provide insights that can empower men to reclaim their sexual sovereignty, create the safety that is needed within intimacy and foster stronger connections with their partners. I trust that you will find this conversation as immensely valuable as I did.
In this podcast, we explore:
How we can use sexuality as a gateway to building a deeper connection with ourselves
Alex's personal journey of self-discovery and transformation, leading him to become a men's sex coach.
The root cause of many challenges that happen in the bedroom
The importance of emotional regulation in order to be able to perform in the bedroom
How we can use the power of our breath to regulate our arousal and stress response
The importance of communicating our desires, needs and limitations in the bedroom
The damaging effects of pornography and finding a pathway forward
Learning to self-source our own pleasure vs. seeking validation externally
Taking control of our ejaculation for a more fulfilling sexual experience.

James Mattingley: Forging Brotherhood Through Ritual Combat | EP 15
Welcome, everybody, to another episode at the „Heart of man. I am thrilled to have James Mattingley with us here today.
James is a coach and facilitator with over a decade of experience leading groups, and guiding transformational experiences. Within his work, he leads in 3 distinct areas:
Helping couples reignite the passion they had at the beginning but even better
Supporting individuals to unveil their inner genius and superpower
Leading men's groups focused on helping men step into courage and love on each other with their fists, using boxing and embodiment
I first met James at a 3- day men's retreat I participated in. During our time together, he skillfully guided us into various different expressions through the use of boxing, embodiment practices & partner exercises. Within our first few moments together, James emphasized the importance of fighting for our brother and not against him, speaking to the fine line of challenging each other from a place of support rather than attempting to bring each other down.
What stood out for me when I first made contact with James was his ability to embody what I'd describe as the „Warrior Poet“ - someone with a connection to his power & fierceness but can also access his gentleness & receptivity.
Within the retreat, we were consistently challenged to explore the edges of that spectrum to expand our capacity to move with agility in both.
A personal favorite moment of this conversation came at the opening of the podcast where James read out a poem he created, communicating the confusing messaging of who we are to be as men and this was followed by a rich discussion addressing the challenges of men in our modern times.
From there, we range into a wide array of topics such as keeping the spark alive with an intimate partner even when the honeymoon phase has settled in, why leading from generosity in relationship is the path forward, why attempting to seek a purpose is not the way and what to do otherwise and many more exciting subject matters.
In this conversation, James & I cover following topics:
The expectations of who men are supposed to be in modern times
The cost of men being disconnected from their strength & inner power
How having a wider range of expression can lead to more confidence
What is transformational combat & why it's valuable for men to connect to their inner fighter
How couples can keep the spark alive - even when the honeymoon phase has settled
Why it's important for couples to get clear on a relationship vision
Why attempting to seek one's purpose is not the way & what do do instead
How to effectively carry our wounds in relationship

Stephen Whalen: "How Travel & Nature Helped Me Move Through Divorce"| EP 14
Stephen Whalen is a transformational life Coach, meditation facilitator and strength and conditioning coach with over 10 years of experience working with world-class coaches, athletes, sports psychologists, teachers and healers.
His own personal journey began with his aspiration to play professional baseball. After numerous injuries, he came to a point where he had to hang up the gloves for good, and open himself up to a new chapter.
He quickly found a passion for the field of coaching, specifically within the realm of strength and conditioning and ended up transitioning into guiding world-class athletes through his programs.
Stephen came to a point where in his own words he had it all: He had the wife, the dogs, the cars, the house, the friends and yet, he shares that he was miserable without any understanding why he was feeling this way.
This break-down moment forced Stephen on a path where he had to begin to open the door to the emotional basement he had locked away long ago
On his path to healing he ended up working with therapists and spiritual mentors and yet, some of his most profound shifts occurred during his extensive travels around the world. Being immersed with nature and frequently embarking on multi-day treks, Stephen found his way back to himself. And it was there, where his next mission was birthed: thrive coaching – This movement combines coaching with adventure and Stephen now guides men through transformational adventure retreats where he guides them back to themselves fostering a deep sense clarity and connection
Stephen and I connected just days just before this interview where we spoke deeply about our personal journeys. Both of us experienced massive healing through coaching and travel, and I knew this would be a powerful access point for us to come together.
Beyond our personal explorations, Stephen and I transitioned into speaking about men's work, specially relational men's work, something he is learning at the moment through his work with John Wineland, a teacher that I personally learned a lot from. Coupled with many laughs, heartfelt shares and deep insights, this is an episode you won't want to miss.
Within this conversation, Stephen and I go into following topics:
Stephen's journey into strength & conditioning
The value of operating from a beginner's mind
Why it's important to cultivate confidence over our physicality
Stephen's break-down moment, ultimately leading to him navigating divorce
The causes that led to his relationship breaking down & what he learned in the process
Stephen's personal journey into healing through therapy & traveling
His work of supporting men through adventure and coaching
Stephen's journey into men's work & the value he received from working with John Wineland

Sven Loss: What Does It Take To Thrive In Relationships? | EP 13
Welcome back, everybody, to yet another episode on the „Heart of Man“ - this is one that I am personally incredibly excited about as we're going into a deep dive into the intricate world of relationships.
I am thrilled to introduce Sven Loss to the podcast, a dear friend and relationship coach who has made it his mission to help individuals move from unhealthy to healthy relationship dynamics.
In our past conversations, Sven has humbly admitted to me that the reason he knows so much about relationships today is because he has failed at them for the majority of his life.
The big turning point came when he came out of a very challenging relationship over 4 years ago that ultimately ended with infidelity.
Heartbroken, and committed to never be in the same situation again, his circumstances propelled him on a journey of self-discovery and take ownership for the ways he's contributed to the dysfunction in his relationships.
This led him to unpack the traumatic experiences of his past, bring awareness to the ways he's learned to cope and lean into the confronting journey of leading from his own authenticity.
Today, Sven sheds light on common relationship patterns, helping individuals identify areas that are asking for healing while equipping individuals with the skills to create the inspired relationship culture they desire
In many of my interactions with fellow men, I've observed that many of them are brought on the journey of developing themselves when they are met with their own limitations to relate romantically. And I feel deeply for them – because this is exactly how my own journey started over 8 years ago.
In our conversation, Sven and I cover o a wide array of topics such as the importance of listening, the importance of fully being with our partners without attempting to fix them, why we as men need to have a capacity to be with our emotions, the obstacles many couple come up against and the essential relationship skills required to create a healthy relationship culture.
And that is only a glimpse of the rich discussion ahead!
In this conversation, Sven and I cover following topics:
Sven's personal journey of being in an unhealthy relationship dynamic
Why relationship is the best mirror to yourself
The importance of listening
What to do with triggers when they arise in relationship
How to tend to unhealed past experiences, so they don't leak out in our relationships
Some of the most common dynamics that arise for most individuals in relationship
Learning to be with our partner's emotions without going into "solution-mode"
The importance of making ourselves vulnerable in relationship
The fundamental understandings of "Attachment Theory" - and how this influences our personal relationships
Why we do not need to fix ourselves

Emile Steenveld: The Importance Of Cultivating Emotional Resilience | EP 12
Emile Steenveld is an emotional intelligence coach & an expert in human behavior with more than a decade of experience helping individuals break free from old beliefs and shed habitual patterns, so they can lead themselves more effectively in their lives with a sense of meaning and fulfillment.
Emile's journey into personal development took a unique path through his career as a professional fashion model.
Through his exposure to the competitive & cutthroat industry he came face to face with his own lack of confidence & fear of rejection early on. He came to realize his success in the business would need him to take ownership over his own insecurities and do the internal work that was necessary. And his journey required him to seek out how to communicate effectively, leave powerful first impressions and learn to carry himself with an embodied sense of confidence that is not solely an outward expression but is rather felt deeply within.
Having always had a curious and introspective nature, coupled with his deep desire to grow, Emile was introduced to the field of the self development
Naturally, he came to later transition full time into the personal development world, where he's made it his mission to help others with the challenges he had faced himself such as building confidence, regulating one's emotions, healing past wounds and communicating effectively.
Emile and I first connected after he attended our weekly breathwork circles and I just knew we had to come together to dive deep into topics such as emotions & human behavior.
What followed was a rich conversation where we cover topics such as healing the wounds from our fathers, the importance of emotional awareness and regulation, dealing with triggers, navigating the pitfalls of comparison, stepping into embodied confidence and many more.
This was a rich conversation where both Emile and I passionately shared about themes that are so close to both of our lives with the intention to provide as much value as we can for all you listeners. I can't wait for all of you to listen into this engaging dialogue between the two of us.
In this conversation we cover many topics such as:
Emile's journey of being a professional fashion model
His journey of discovering that he lacked emotional intelligence
Healing severed relationships with our parents
How we can release the grasp of perfectionism
Why it's essential for us to cultivate emotional range to become more self-expressed
How to navigate triggers
What Emile learned about being a man within men's groups
How we can release the mechanism of comparison
How we can truly experience fulfillment

Kute Blackson: What It Truly Takes To Embody Freedom As Men | EP 11
Kute Blackson is a renowned inspirational speaker, teacher, transformational coach, and the host of the popular Podcast „Soultalk“. He is also the author of the national best-selling books "You are the One" and "The Magic of Surrender".
Born in Ghana, West Africa, Kute's life was profoundly shaped by his multicultural upbringing as the child of a Japanese mother and a Ghanaian father.
Growing up in London, as the son of a revered spiritual leader of more than 300 churches, Kute began to speak in front of large audiences by the age of 8.
At the ripe of 14, he was ordained as a minister by his father and was announced to be his successor.
In his heart, however, he knew that this wasn't the path that was set out for him. At 17, he humbly confessed to his father that it wasn't his desire to become a minister, causing a lasting rift within their relationship.
At his core, Kute had a desire to move to America - to live at the heart of the personal development scene amongst the many spiritual mentors he grew up reading about
At 18 with 2 suitcases and 800$ in his bank account, he set out for his dream to America cultivating a deeply spiritual life along the way.
Today, Kute's mission is simple: to awaken and inspire people globally, guiding them to inner freedom, authentic living and fulfilling their true life's purpose
Widely regarded as the next generation leader, Inc magazine calls him „the mindfulness guru billionaires go to for advice“. He's also the youngest member to have been voted into the transformational leadership Council, a select group of 100 of the world's foremost authorities in the personal development industry.
Kute profoundly impacted my own journey – something I shared with him in the conversation. When I learned he'd be in Bali for his final retreat on the Island, I knew I wanted to come together for this unique opportunity.
Now, for all of you listening:
Get ready...
Because this conversation is on fire. Kute's passion, devotion to truth, and unapologetic approach shine through every sentence, leaving deep impressions through numerous moments of the conversation.
Within this interview, We delve into the challenges modern men face. From letting go of our fathers approval, the importance of grieving, recognizing that no one will save you, the importance of building a relationship with death, what men need to know about relationships and the importance of embracing a life of integrity.
Among the numerous interviews I've done by now, this is without a doubt one of my favorites and a conversation that I myself will come back to.
In the following conversation Kute and I cover following topics
Kute's origin story
The importance of letting go of our father's approval
The importance of taking responsibility and being willing to face the consequences of our actions
The importance of grieving
Facing our own death; so we can step into the boldness of living
The number one pursuit of men
What men get wrong about relationships
What Kute learned about becoming a man by becoming a father
Bringing awareness to the places we lie to ourselves and stepping into the truth of our experience

Alex Lehmann: "My Pain Was The Doorway To My Purpose" | EP 10 — [ A conversation on „Unhooked“ W/ Jeremey Lipkowitz ]
I am incredibly excited for this upcoming episode as we're going to be switching things up a little bit. Instead of interviewing yet another incredible guest, I actually recently had the great honor of being interviewed myself on the podcast „Unhooked“ with my friend Jeremy Lipkowitz.
And I felt called to share this interview on the „heart of man“ for a number of reasons.
First of all, this has been the first podcast interview I was a guest on in 2 years which provided a space where I could share some of my most current perspectives, teachings and experiences, particularly diving deep into my passion within the field of men's work.

Jeremy Lipkowitz: From Porn Addiction To Inner Freedom | EP 9
In this latest episode I had the great honor of inviting my new friend, Jeremy Lipkowitz to the podcast. I am excited to share his work with all of you, as he's working in a field that is in my opinion both relevant and absolutely necessary.
Jeremy is a porn addiction recovery coach, a meditation teacher and an expert on digital habits and he's made it his mission to serve men in overcoming porn addiction, so they can live with deeper purpose – and in the process reclaim their minds, learn to thrive in relationship, and live with deeper integrity.
In his own personal journey, Jeremy had to confront his own addiction to pornography, and his inner battles with shame, self-judgement and depression
Coming into contact with Buddhist philosophy and mindfulness, he found a modality that was able to support him through his challenges. And for years he ended up spending time living and training with ordained Buddhist monks in Myanmar.
Along the process he's found his way back to himself with a greater sense of meaning, fulfillment and purpose.
And with a background in genetics and genomics, he now combines a science-based approach with his deep passion for eastern philosophy and mindfulness, in order to support men in reclaiming sovereignty over their own minds, so they can experience inner peace.
Within our conversation, Jeremy and I specifically focused on the topic of pornography. It's becoming increasingly evident how the consistent consumption of porn can impact lives, yet I still see the conversation surrounding it remains limited.
Having faced my own challenges with this issue, and speaking to men on a regular basis around the topic of porn, I knew this was an essential conversation for us to have.
With Jeremy's expertise in the field of neuroscience, I was interested to hear about the impact porn has on our lives and why it's so addictive. With his training in fields such as mindfulness and addiction recovery, we explored in depth, what pulls specifically many men towards porn but also how thow they may be able to break free from it.
This was an incredibly illuminating conversations with some heartfelt and transparent shares out of our own personal lives. And I can't wait for you all to listen to it. Without further ado, let's dive on in:
In the following interview we go into the following topics:
Jeremy's personal healing journey through porn addiction
Why porn is highly addictive and the 3 A's of porn addiction
How at the root of every addiction there is a pain we seek to tend to
The long-term impacts of using porn & how it impacts our relationships
The distinction between healthy shame and toxic shame
The difference between lust, craving and desire
How vulnerability & authenticity are the key's to releasing toxic shame
A path forward and strategies to help men break free from porn
The importance of community
