ADHD-ish
Diann Wingert
ADHD-ish is THE podcast for business owners who are driven and distracted, whether you have an “official” ADHD diagnosis or not. If you identify as an entrepreneur, small business owner, independent professional, or creative, and you color outside the lines and think outside the box, this podcast is for you.
People with ADHD traits are far more likely to start a business because we love novelty and autonomy. But running a business can be lonely and exhausting. Having so many brilliant ideas means dozens of projects you’ve started and offers you’ve brainstormed, but few you’ve actually launched. Choosing what to say "yes" to and what to "catch and release" is even harder. This is exactly why I created ADHD-ish.
Each episode offers practical strategies, personal stories, and expert insights to help you harness your active mind and turn potential distractions into business success. From productivity tools to mindset shifts, you’ll learn how to do business your way by
embracing your neurodivergent edge and turning your passion and purpose into profit.
If we haven't met, I'm your host, Diann Wingert, a psychotherapist-turned-business coach and serial business owner, who struggled for years with cookie-cutter advice meant for “normies” and superficial ADHD hacks that didn’t go the distance. In ADHD-ish, I’m sharing the best of what I’ve learned from running my businesses and working with coaching clients who are like-minded and like-brained.
Note: ADHD-ish does have an explicit rating, not because of an abundance of “F-bombs” but because I embrace creative self-expression for my guests and myself. So, grab those headphones if you have littles around, and don’t forget to hit Follow/Subscribe so you don’t miss a single episode.

It’s time to celebrate, Driven Women! This week is our one year Podversary and I am so excited to announce that I have consistently produced this podcast every single week for an entire year. Safeguarding Your Energy: Strategies to Avoid Entrepreneurial Burnout
Today I am joined by Cait Donovan, who is a burnout expert, something that many female entrepreneurs are at risk of, especially the gifted, creative, sensitive ones. Cait is not only a burnout coach, but she is also a licensed acupuncturist, speaker, author, course creator and fellow podcaster. Like many driven women, Cait learned about burnout the hard way, by going through it. She figured out how she ended up there, how to bounce back and now she is on a mission to end burnout culture. If we want to stay in the entrepreneurial game long enough to have a business that it both profitable and sustainable, staying alert to where we feel resentment and setting healthier boundaries is a must. You are going to love this conversation as much as I did! This week’s Pod Praise comes from duckieduck64 (aka Marcie) who says: Welcome to a mind-blowing home for the ADHD professional, regardless of gender, to dive deeper into their adult ADHD journey, feel way less alone, and maybe learn a few tips along the way. Diann’s having profoundly intriguing conversations and so far, every episode I’ve listened to has deeply resonated in some way. So thankful to have found this pod, I really needed to hear it & feel hope!” And, as promised, if you are a freelancer, small biz owner or entrepreneur, I will read your review and shout out your business, too: Come find her amazing textiles at: https://www.instagram.com/twistedthreadsfabric/Don’t forget to leave your own review of The Driven Woman Podcast, so I can read it on a future episode! Is Rejection Sensitivity Hurting Your Business?
If you are an entrepreneur, a creative person or an indie professional who needs to make offers, close sales, market their products or services and have a presence in the world of social media, I don’t have to tell you that dealing with real or perceived rejection is one of the issues you need to gain mastery over in order to stay in business and make a living. But, rejection sensitivity is not a disorder, a mental health diagnosis or illness. It is also not a reason to hide your gifts from the world, work for free or barter yourself into business failure. You can be both sensitive and successful and it is well worth learning to overcome your fears so you can make your difference in the world. Our Pod Praise (podcast review) this week comes from Jerseyll who writes: “This is an amazing podcast packed full of actionable info you can put to use in your life right away. The Episode #48 interview Diann did with her friend, therapist, John Sovec on How to Keep Fear from Holding You Back, was so good that I’m going to listen to over again many, many times. Do yourself a favor and tune in!” Thank you, Jerseyll for this awesome review and for supporting the podcast! How Serial Entrepreneurs Leverage Their ADHD Traits
Today I am joined by Angela Proffitt, who describes herself as “a southern gal with a potty mouth” (so you know I was taken with her instantly) and is the founder and CEO of Angela Proffitt, LLC a consulting firm out of Nashville, Tennessee. Angela is a productivity consultant, speaker, author, online course creator, podcaster, 8-figure serial entrepreneur, AND a driven woman with ADHD. Her story is full of twists and turns, good luck, and bad choices, but what is most impressive to me about Angela is her mindset and how she made over her life from being a total workaholic on the verge of burnout to one where she is in control of her time, energy, clients, and money. Angela Proffitt just may be one of the most inspiring women I’ve met, with or without ADHD, and whether you are an entrepreneur or not, you will learn a ton from this conversation. This week’s Pod Praise comes from GalFriday612 who says: “Give this show a listen, ADHD or No. Diann cuts to the heart of the topic at hand - no fluff, no filler, just concentrated Exactly What You Need To Hear. The podcast feels like sitting down for an intimate chat with your friend who always gives the best advice to get you unstuck.”Don’t forget to leave your own review of The Driven Woman Podcast, so I can read it on a future episode! Different, Not Deficient: The Power of Self-Acceptance
It makes me angry that acknowledging a mental health diagnosis and receiving help is still a source of stigma and shame. I am grateful to the brave and clever people who have taken to YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, not to mention those who have started podcasts, to normalize mental health conditions by dropping their masks and sharing their struggles. They have done more to raise awareness and spread hope in the last few years than the psychiatric community has been able to do in decades. In today’s solo episode, I’d like to share with you my thoughts about being a person with ADHD and what those four little letters mean to me. ADHD is a mouthful if you spell it out. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Not only is the clinical label confusing because people with ADHD can and do pay attention, and many of us aren’t hyperactive, but the words “deficit” and “disorder” are triggering enough to stop many from ever scheduling a diagnostic appointment. If you suspect or know you have ADHD, you don’t have to pledge allegiance to any of the factions within this community (‘It’s a superpower!” vs “It’s a disability!”) but you do need to decide what you make it mean about you, your life and your abilities. Listen in as I share my journey with ADHD and the choices I have made that just might work for you too. Leadership & Perfectionism: a Client Success Story with Tracey Watts-Cirino
Some of my most popular episodes are the Client Success Stories, and I am sure that this one will be no exception. Today’s guest, Tracey Watts-Cirino, was a successful 20-year beauty industry leader and small business owner when she decided to hire me to help her figure out why she wasn’t reaching her next-level goals and her true potential. On the outside, Tracey appeared to have “all the things” - a long-term happy marriage, two thriving sons, a super successful business, and a book that was mostly written. But she was frustrated by the daily challenges of running a service-based business, often felt misunderstood by others, and couldn’t seem to create systems that were both easy and sustainable. And, what she didn’t understand about her brain works was really holding her back. Luckily for Tracey, that’s my zone of genius. Enjoy our conversation where we catch up on all the amazing changes she has made, how she completely transformed her business during a global pandemic, finished and published her business book, and launched her podcast. Some of the highlights: Is it perfectionism or giftedness that makes you so driven? Her lifetime habit of asking “does that make sense?” & how she was finally able to give it up Being a leader with ADHD means we need to show up differently The identity transformation from “I am too much” to “I am a force for good”This week’s podcast review is from Tanyi, who happens to be one of my clients, too. “Diann is truly a force to be reckoned with! She is second to none when it comes to truly understanding, working with, and transforming the lives of women with ADHD. I lost track of how many years of therapy, medication changes, misdiagnoses (and a whole ton trial by error) I experienced only to hit a dead-end in the middle of anxiety-depression. I first heard Diann on another ADHD podcast and I KNEW I had to hear more from this woman. Despite knowing how gifted I was, my challenges with ADHD (and my skewed perspective on it) left me feeling like an absolute failure in every area of my life, I felt like I tried everything under the sun- until Diann. Hearing her talk about radical self-acceptance challenges the way I saw myself. and it began to change my life faster than a set of falling dominoes. After becoming a client, the huge roadblocks in my life became little puzzle pieces I just needed to rearrange. It all starts with your mindset. I've made more progress with Diann in a few weeks than in all my years of trying to make things better on my own. Seriously if you haven't subscribed to this podcast yet, then you need to pull over at the next stop and hit the subscribe button! Better yet, create the opportunity to work with her. Your life will never be the same.” Can I just say I am feeling super grateful for clients and reviews like THIS one! Change, Habits & Fear, Oh My!
Lately, we have been talking a lot about fear. In last week’s guest expert interview with John Sovec, we talked about How to Keep Fear From Holding You Back. In this week’s solo episode, we will continue on the theme by discussing how it’s natural to feel that change is hard, how to deal with the fear of change, and the power of habit to make things easier. It’s all in understanding how the brain works, so I will help you understand how to put it to work for you. Overcoming your resistance and learning to accept change will ultimately make you feel good about yourself and acknowledging your fear will take you one step closer to your life goals. Our Pod Praise (podcast review) this week comes from Sarah Travel Gal, who writes: “For all driven women! Not everyone is born a hyper-focused productivity guru. Diann’s show is perfect for driven, high-achieving women who want to learn to improve how they manage their time and energy. Love her mission and message!” Sarah is an American expat, podcast consultant, and transformational coach who joined me on one of my podcast episodes titled “Staying Calm in the Midst of Chaos”. How to Keep Fear from Holding You Back with John Sovec
I am excited to share today’s guest, John Sovec with you. The Driven Woman Podcast is produced with the driven but distracted female entrepreneur in mind, so you might be surprised to see a man joining us as a guest. I invited John because he is a therapist and coach, a writer, an internationally recognized speaker. He is also a yoga and mindfulness teacher and one of my closest friends. One of the things that John is an expert in is how to move through fear, the subject of today’s podcast interview. If you have a goal and find yourself holding back out of fear, whether it’s fear of failure, fear of success, fear of being seen, imposter complex, or all of the above, this episode is for you! Idea Overload: Taming the Chaos and Taking Action
If you heard my last solo episode, the one I called Do the Thing, you’ll see that I am on a roll. You see, I work with creative female entrepreneurs and while each of them is unique, many of their struggles are far too common. This week, I’m going to share my thoughts about how having a super creative brain, which is always spouting one amazing idea after another is actually a problem. Not a problem as in you should feel sorry for me, boo hoo, #thestruggleisreal kind of way, but it does tend to lead to trouble knowing which one to focus on, trouble sticking with it after the shiny wears off, and trouble even thinking any of them is worth doing because the best idea ever is the one you haven’t had yet. In this week’s solo episode, we are going to talk about endless creativity, difficulty focusing, and struggling to recognize our own brilliance, and most importantly, what to do with all of it. Our Pod Praise (podcast review) this week comes from Gwendalyn, a serial entrepreneur listener, who writes: “Diann is an incredible speaker and gives great insight and information for the female entrepreneur. If you’re looking for a podcast to motivate you with your own business or adventures this is the one!” Thanks, Gwendalyn! Toxic Entrepreneurship with Casey Jourdan
I am excited to share today’s guest, Casey Jourdan with you. Casey is a business strategist and mentor who works with early-stage, primarily female entrepreneurs. Casey rejected the traditional life of the 9-5 so-called secure career path with benefits. This is not just because of the effects of the impact to her brain from having been blown up in Iraq while she was serving in the military, but also as a result of some residual PTSD, but because of her feelings about how entrepreneurship is being promoted on the internet, in particular, something she calls Toxic Entrepreneurship.Casey helps her clients craft the entrepreneurial lifestyle that meets their needs, takes their strengths and limitations into account, and suits the life they actually have, not the one the bro marketers are trying to sell them. Check out her website, follow her on IG and listen to her podcast, Steady She Grows.Mentioned in this interview: Article about gender and confidence: http://bit.ly/3s6skm4Course Casey is taking: https://www.kellydiels.com/culturemaker/This week’s podcast review, from Ashlee Braxton, life coach and host of The Happy Choice Podcast, writes: She's Wonder Woman!
