ADHD-ish
Diann Wingert
ADHD-ish is THE podcast for business owners who are driven and distracted, whether you have an “official” ADHD diagnosis or not. If you identify as an entrepreneur, small business owner, independent professional, or creative, and you color outside the lines and think outside the box, this podcast is for you.
People with ADHD traits are far more likely to start a business because we love novelty and autonomy. But running a business can be lonely and exhausting. Having so many brilliant ideas means dozens of projects you’ve started and offers you’ve brainstormed, but few you’ve actually launched. Choosing what to say "yes" to and what to "catch and release" is even harder. This is exactly why I created ADHD-ish.
Each episode offers practical strategies, personal stories, and expert insights to help you harness your active mind and turn potential distractions into business success. From productivity tools to mindset shifts, you’ll learn how to do business your way by
embracing your neurodivergent edge and turning your passion and purpose into profit.
If we haven't met, I'm your host, Diann Wingert, a psychotherapist-turned-business coach and serial business owner, who struggled for years with cookie-cutter advice meant for “normies” and superficial ADHD hacks that didn’t go the distance. In ADHD-ish, I’m sharing the best of what I’ve learned from running my businesses and working with coaching clients who are like-minded and like-brained.
Note: ADHD-ish does have an explicit rating, not because of an abundance of “F-bombs” but because I embrace creative self-expression for my guests and myself. So, grab those headphones if you have littles around, and don’t forget to hit Follow/Subscribe so you don’t miss a single episode.

Leadership & Perfectionism: a Client Success Story with Tracey Watts-Cirino
Some of my most popular episodes are the Client Success Stories, and I am sure that this one will be no exception. Today’s guest, Tracey Watts-Cirino, was a successful 20-year beauty industry leader and small business owner when she decided to hire me to help her figure out why she wasn’t reaching her next-level goals and her true potential. On the outside, Tracey appeared to have “all the things” - a long-term happy marriage, two thriving sons, a super successful business, and a book that was mostly written. But she was frustrated by the daily challenges of running a service-based business, often felt misunderstood by others, and couldn’t seem to create systems that were both easy and sustainable. And, what she didn’t understand about her brain works was really holding her back. Luckily for Tracey, that’s my zone of genius. Enjoy our conversation where we catch up on all the amazing changes she has made, how she completely transformed her business during a global pandemic, finished and published her business book, and launched her podcast. Some of the highlights: Is it perfectionism or giftedness that makes you so driven? Her lifetime habit of asking “does that make sense?” & how she was finally able to give it up Being a leader with ADHD means we need to show up differently The identity transformation from “I am too much” to “I am a force for good”This week’s podcast review is from Tanyi, who happens to be one of my clients, too. “Diann is truly a force to be reckoned with! She is second to none when it comes to truly understanding, working with, and transforming the lives of women with ADHD. I lost track of how many years of therapy, medication changes, misdiagnoses (and a whole ton trial by error) I experienced only to hit a dead-end in the middle of anxiety-depression. I first heard Diann on another ADHD podcast and I KNEW I had to hear more from this woman. Despite knowing how gifted I was, my challenges with ADHD (and my skewed perspective on it) left me feeling like an absolute failure in every area of my life, I felt like I tried everything under the sun- until Diann. Hearing her talk about radical self-acceptance challenges the way I saw myself. and it began to change my life faster than a set of falling dominoes. After becoming a client, the huge roadblocks in my life became little puzzle pieces I just needed to rearrange. It all starts with your mindset. I've made more progress with Diann in a few weeks than in all my years of trying to make things better on my own. Seriously if you haven't subscribed to this podcast yet, then you need to pull over at the next stop and hit the subscribe button! Better yet, create the opportunity to work with her. Your life will never be the same.” Can I just say I am feeling super grateful for clients and reviews like THIS one! Change, Habits & Fear, Oh My!
Lately, we have been talking a lot about fear. In last week’s guest expert interview with John Sovec, we talked about How to Keep Fear From Holding You Back. In this week’s solo episode, we will continue on the theme by discussing how it’s natural to feel that change is hard, how to deal with the fear of change, and the power of habit to make things easier. It’s all in understanding how the brain works, so I will help you understand how to put it to work for you. Overcoming your resistance and learning to accept change will ultimately make you feel good about yourself and acknowledging your fear will take you one step closer to your life goals. Our Pod Praise (podcast review) this week comes from Sarah Travel Gal, who writes: “For all driven women! Not everyone is born a hyper-focused productivity guru. Diann’s show is perfect for driven, high-achieving women who want to learn to improve how they manage their time and energy. Love her mission and message!” Sarah is an American expat, podcast consultant, and transformational coach who joined me on one of my podcast episodes titled “Staying Calm in the Midst of Chaos”. How to Keep Fear from Holding You Back with John Sovec
I am excited to share today’s guest, John Sovec with you. The Driven Woman Podcast is produced with the driven but distracted female entrepreneur in mind, so you might be surprised to see a man joining us as a guest. I invited John because he is a therapist and coach, a writer, an internationally recognized speaker. He is also a yoga and mindfulness teacher and one of my closest friends. One of the things that John is an expert in is how to move through fear, the subject of today’s podcast interview. If you have a goal and find yourself holding back out of fear, whether it’s fear of failure, fear of success, fear of being seen, imposter complex, or all of the above, this episode is for you! Idea Overload: Taming the Chaos and Taking Action
If you heard my last solo episode, the one I called Do the Thing, you’ll see that I am on a roll. You see, I work with creative female entrepreneurs and while each of them is unique, many of their struggles are far too common. This week, I’m going to share my thoughts about how having a super creative brain, which is always spouting one amazing idea after another is actually a problem. Not a problem as in you should feel sorry for me, boo hoo, #thestruggleisreal kind of way, but it does tend to lead to trouble knowing which one to focus on, trouble sticking with it after the shiny wears off, and trouble even thinking any of them is worth doing because the best idea ever is the one you haven’t had yet. In this week’s solo episode, we are going to talk about endless creativity, difficulty focusing, and struggling to recognize our own brilliance, and most importantly, what to do with all of it. Our Pod Praise (podcast review) this week comes from Gwendalyn, a serial entrepreneur listener, who writes: “Diann is an incredible speaker and gives great insight and information for the female entrepreneur. If you’re looking for a podcast to motivate you with your own business or adventures this is the one!” Thanks, Gwendalyn! Toxic Entrepreneurship with Casey Jourdan
I am excited to share today’s guest, Casey Jourdan with you. Casey is a business strategist and mentor who works with early-stage, primarily female entrepreneurs. Casey rejected the traditional life of the 9-5 so-called secure career path with benefits. This is not just because of the effects of the impact to her brain from having been blown up in Iraq while she was serving in the military, but also as a result of some residual PTSD, but because of her feelings about how entrepreneurship is being promoted on the internet, in particular, something she calls Toxic Entrepreneurship.Casey helps her clients craft the entrepreneurial lifestyle that meets their needs, takes their strengths and limitations into account, and suits the life they actually have, not the one the bro marketers are trying to sell them. Check out her website, follow her on IG and listen to her podcast, Steady She Grows.Mentioned in this interview: Article about gender and confidence: http://bit.ly/3s6skm4Course Casey is taking: https://www.kellydiels.com/culturemaker/This week’s podcast review, from Ashlee Braxton, life coach and host of The Happy Choice Podcast, writes: She's Wonder Woman! Do the Thing
I know I am not the only one who procrastinates on doing the thing, the really important thing that we just can’t seem to get around to. It’s usually the very same thing that we have been circling around for weeks, months, years, even longer. It’s the thing that will make us ever so proud to have done it, and also the thing that will be our biggest regret if we don’t. Oh, yeah. That thing. Everybody has one. At least one.In this week’s solo episode, I share about my relationship with writing and all the deceptively clever ways I avoided it until I finally realized what the real problem was and how that changed everything. Resources mentioned in this episode:App for creating a daily writing habit: https://750words.com/My favorite copywriter, Laura Belgray: https://talkingshrimp.com/Morning Pages, The Artist Way: http://bit.ly/3buPUTXOur Pod Praise (podcast review) this week comes from LostZelda, a creative artist and fan of the show who writes: “I love Diann’s straightforward approach! She is uplifting and gives practical advice that is easy to digest. I also love that the solo episodes are short so you can listen to them even on a tight schedule. I recently took a closer look at my business because of the “Unstuck” episode. I realized I was doing something other successful people were doing, but it just wasn’t working for me. I totally decided to PIVOT! And I feel less stressed out and excited to be going in a different direction. Staying Calm in the Midst of Chaos with Sarah Mikutel
Today I am joined by Sarah Mikutel, an American expat who has been living permanently in Europe for over a decade. Sarah is an inspiration to me, not only because she had the drive and the courage to choose a life of freedom, something many driven women dream about, but because she is also on the path of continuous personal evolution. This conversation is about how to use the ancient wisdom of Stoicism to create calm when life feels out of control. But, before we dig into this very timely topic, I’d like to share one of my recent podcast reviews, this one, from mscrobo who says” Inspiring Content! Diann, you are amazing! I love all the helpful information you provide and how you make the show worth listening to again and again. You are making the world a better place. Keep it up!” Thanks so much for this podcast praise, mscrobo! Reviews like this kick my drive into high gear and keep me going! Don't be an Advice ATM
Are you someone who has always been asked for advice? In this week’s solo episode, I tackled the issue of setting boundaries around when to actually give it. Many people will ask for your advice but they do not really need it, they just need someone to listen to them, so you can be empathic and let them know you want to support them, and that’s it. No need to give advice that you know they will never follow anyway. I used to dispense advice like an ATM, but I no longer believe I'm helping anyone by telling them what to do. Instead, I point out their strengths. I encourage them to think for themselves. I reflect evidence back to them that they are far more capable than they are giving themselves credit for at the moment. At the end of the day, we need to accept the fact that we cannot help anybody by solving their problems. Our Pod Praise (podcast review) this week comes from Christian R. Ward, a fellow podcaster, host of The Interesting Humans podcast:Not just for women;I know I am among a minority of men who regularly listen to Diann. But as a curious man, I have to know what the other side thinks, LOL. Diann’s command of and ability to zero in on important personal challenges makes her podcast worthwhile. I’ve interviewed Diann and knowing even more of her story makes her podcast even more valuable to me. Jen helps coaches, consultants, service providers, small business owners, and online entrepreneurs get off of what she calls the content creation “dreadmill.” The pressure to come up with something interesting, entertaining, or informative every single week for your blog, podcast, YouTube, FB Lives, can become overwhelming, but Jen Liddy is a former school teacher so she knows how to break things down for even the most overwhelmed and confused among us. Getting Unstuck
Have you ever gotten yourself into such a tangled mess that you have no idea how you got there or how to get out? Of course, you have! Feeling stuck is a common problem, especially for creatives and those of us who have trouble asking for help. Sound like anyone you know? In this solo episode, I break down the various reasons we get ourselves stuck and reveal that they are almost always a mindset issue, instead of a real problem. This is really good news, because mindset habits are learned, and what is learned can be unlearned. Our Pod Praise (podcast review) this week comes from Michelle Johnson: “The Driven Woman Podcast is for those of us who seek to align ourselves with our truest goals and aspirations. Diann's transformative approach to dealing with our pressing careers will convince you that you CAN work at a more focused pace and get BIG things done. I've learned that talent and potential don't mean a thing if we let fear (perfectionism) take us hostage. Diann's podcast is both fun and sassy with a dose of go get 'em, girl...you got this!”Remember, if you leave a review for The Driven Woman Podcast, Diann will read it on a future episode.
