Diann Wingert
ADHD-ish is THE podcast for business owners who are driven and distracted, whether you have an “official” ADHD diagnosis or not. If you identify as an entrepreneur, small business owner, independent professional, or creative, and you color outside the lines and think outside the box, this podcast is for you.
People with ADHD traits are far more likely to start a business because we love novelty and autonomy. But running a business can be lonely and exhausting. Having so many brilliant ideas means dozens of projects you’ve started and offers you’ve brainstormed, but few you’ve actually launched. Choosing what to say "yes" to and what to "catch and release" is even harder. This is exactly why I created ADHD-ish.
Each episode offers practical strategies, personal stories, and expert insights to help you harness your active mind and turn potential distractions into business success. From productivity tools to mindset shifts, you’ll learn how to do business your way by
embracing your neurodivergent edge and turning your passion and purpose into profit.
If we haven't met, I'm your host, Diann Wingert, a psychotherapist-turned-business coach and serial business owner, who struggled for years with cookie-cutter advice meant for “normies” and superficial ADHD hacks that didn’t go the distance. In ADHD-ish, I’m sharing the best of what I’ve learned from running my businesses and working with coaching clients who are like-minded and like-brained.
Note: ADHD-ish does have an explicit rating, not because of an abundance of “F-bombs” but because I embrace creative self-expression for my guests and myself. So, grab those headphones if you have littles around, and don’t forget to hit Follow/Subscribe so you don’t miss a single episode.

Leading with Limits: How to Set Boundaries and Succeed
One of the topics I am asked to speak about the most, whether it is as a speaker, podcast guest, or with my own coaching clients is boundaries. The subject of boundaries comes up so often because it might seem simple, but is actually quite complicated. There is no cookie-cutter, one size fits all situations solution. Boundaries are culturally determined, affected by our personalities, temperaments, stage of life, mental health, personal preferences, and whether or not we have a trauma history. See what I mean about being complicated? In this week’s solo episode, I am going to open up the topic of boundaries (we will have a few more episodes where we will dig deeper into various aspects of the subject…) by reflecting on the differences I observed visiting the homes of various friends as I was growing up in S. California from the families whose kids didn’t even have bedroom doors to those where the parents could not enter without the child’s permission and everything in between. Here are the episode’s highlights: What healthy boundaries look and feel like How to set boundaries like a boss if you don’t own a business The emotion that signals a boundary violation Boundaries while working from homeBoundaries are about access and expectationsHow to move the boundary needle from uncomfortable to comfortable Could you use some serious help with boundaries in your business and life? With 20+ years experience as a psychotherapist and 5+ years as a coach, I’ve never met a solopreneur, coach or consultant who couldn’t use a boundary boost. Balancing Passion & Profit with Heather Zeitzwolfe
Many of us start out with one goal in mind when we become an entrepreneur- creating a business around something we are passionate about. In fact “Follow your passion and build a business you love” is probably the most popular headline for a huge number of online business coaches nowadays. It’s a very seductive promise and a glamorous fantasy, but it is simply not enough to keep your business boat afloat. Now, don’t get me wrong, passion is important, and maybe even necessary, especially in the beginning when you are scared shitless and have no clue, but unless you also keep your eye on the bottom line and balance your passion with profit, your business just might sink instead of sail. That’s why I invited my Portland pal and host of the Get the Balance Right Podcast, Heather Zeitzwolfe to chat with me today. Heather is a certified public accountant, financial coach, and profit advisor who works with creative entrepreneurs and small agencies. We both have a sweet spot for first-time female entrepreneurs in their 50s because of our own personal histories. Her website lists her attributes as Rebel, Nerd, Activist, Entrepreneur, Goofball, Cult Film Afficianado, Vegan, and when I saw her name on the list of attendees for the She Podcasts Live conference I attended in October, I was determined to meet her. What you can look forward to hearing in this episode: Heather’s non-traditional path to becoming a CPA in her 40s & starting her first business in her 50sWhy she works with creative solopreneurs and small agencies Our lively discussion on money blocks and why so many women have them How she makes it safe for her clients to be honest about their numbers, dispelling money shame Connect with our amazing guest, Heather Zeitzwolfe! Stop People Pleasing to Boost Your Profits
I think it's really important as women and business owners that we understand how our culture has conditioned us to have certain beliefs, expectations, habits, and behaviors that interfere with our ability to achieve our goals and be successful. Most of us don't even realize all the things that we are doing that are killing our profits. So I'm willing to offend, to annoy, and even risk being a trigger because I think for those of you that are ready to hear the unvarnished truth and do something about it, you are going to be able to maximize your profits in your business without even having to hire me. You are welcome. We will cover a handful of obvious (and not so obvious) ways we leave money on the table, limit our income, impose our own internal glass ceiling, and take a pay cut in our business. We are going to dig into money mindset, imposter complex, avoiding the ask, pricing, discounts, bartering, raising your fees, and avoiding dealing with employees and contractors that are messing up your bottom line. We also confront some of the more insidious (aka sneaky unconscious beliefs so many of us have, such as beliefs about money and greed, getting paid for our talents, and whether or not it’s selfish to make money for something you enjoy doing, Like all of my solo episodes, this one is a cross between a kick in the ass and a warm hug. Hey, you don’t need me to flatter you, blow smoke up your skirt or polish your pinkies. My specialty is being the Speaker of Uncomfortable Truths because I want you to succeed. If you are serious about making a living while making a difference, you need to pay attention to the unconscious habits that get in your way, and most of all, what you can do instead. I am here to give you the straight talk, with a dash of sass! Changing Your Mind, One Thought at a Time
I often say that human beings only have two problems: We are always thinking and we always believe ourselves. While this may sound sarcastic (and it probably is) the underlying truth is that for many of us, our thoughts are just as much the source of our suffering as our actual circumstances. That’s not to say our circumstances might not need some changing, but plenty of us have everything we need to be healthy, happy, successful, and fulfilled and we aren’t, because of our stinking thinking. Over the course of the last few solo episodes, I have been talking about confidence, negative self-talk, and questioning your fear. Today’s solo episode is the next topic in the mindset series, how to actually begin to change your brain by changing your mind. I have been doing this mindset work for a number of years, starting with taking classes in meditation and mindfulness center, where I initially went seeking help from chronic pain. What I discovered over time is that mindfulness, meditation, cognitive therapy, and personal growth work all create transformation at the level of the mind and that unless we change our minds, we won’t find lasting results from changing other aspects of our lives (jobs, relationships, hair color….) What we will cover in this episode:The pressure to conform to the normThe nature of what we call ‘reality” Sleepwalking through life And, the three levels we progress through that allow us to transform our minds, one thought at a timeFreebie AlertIn order to transform the unconscious, habitual thoughts into ones that serve us, grab your copy of the handout that accompanies this episode:Change Your Mind One Thought at a TimeReady to Make a Serious Upgrade? If getting back into momentum & moving the needle in your business and life is how you want to start your 2022, Click here to schedule a free 30-minute consultation to see if my signature 12-week 1:1 coaching program is right for you. https://calendly.com/diannwingert/free-consultation/If you are the kind of entrepreneur who learns as much from others as you do when you and your business are the sole focus, my group coaching program is starting again soon and the first step is to get on the waitlist! Building Confidence: From Self-Doubt to Self-Assured
Today’s guest, Nicole Kalil is a speaker, trainer, and host of the This is Woman’s Work Podcast. She left a successful corporate career in the male-dominated industry of financial services and is now an executive coach for women in leadership positions in a variety of industries. As you will hear in this interview, Nicole is just as passionate about helping women to reach greater levels of confidence and success as I am. Nicole shares her favorite definition of confidence, the 5 limiting beliefs that derail our confidence, and the 5 beliefs we can replace them with that are confidence boosters. We also talk about our thoughts on the advice to ‘fake it til you make it,” whether she believes any woman can develop confidence and whether you can actually have too much confidence. This convo will not only motivate and inspire you, but you can put Nicole’s advice into practice today. One of the most heartfelt moments in the interview is Nicole sharing her mantra for when times are hard, in which she reminds herself that she is her young daughter’s role model. I must admit I teared up just a bit, right along with her. Question Your Fear
In the years I’ve been coaching bold, brilliant, badass female entrepreneurs, I have never once encountered one that was not capable of more than she was experiencing in her business success. Sometimes the issue was skill, occasionally it was will, but nine times out of ten, it came down to fear. Fear of failure, fear of criticism, fear of being envied, fear of embarrassment, fear of proving someone right, even fear of betraying their roots are just some of the possibilities. Fear is something we need to learn how to manage if we want to move to a higher level of influence, impact, or income in business. Until we do so, we will stay right where we are, and with the world moving forward at an ever-increasing pace, staying in place is falling behind. The lowdown on fear we will cover in this episode:What we are actually afraid of The 85% error factor Worst case scenario thinking & why we resort to it Fear and secondary gain The alternative to letting fear hold us back Freebie AlertIn order to transform our relationship with fear, we need to re-train our thoughts and reactions. Women & Money: It's Complicated with Melanie Lockert
The more women I talk to, the more I realize that almost all of us have “issues” with money. We either aren’t earning enough, are living beyond our means, are caught in the trap of student loan and/ or credit card debt, or are terrified to ask for what we actually need to float our boat. And this doesn’t even begin to cover the fact that most of us grew up hearing all manner of money nonsense from our parents that virtually guarantees we won’t be improving our relationship with money any time soon. Oh, yeah, it’s complicated all right. So, I invited speaker and writer, Melanie Lockert, author of the best-selling book ‘Dear Debt”, host of the Mental Health & Wealth Podcast, and a woman who has learned a thing or two about money, the hard way. She is also co-founder of the Lola Retreat which helps bold women face their fears, own their dreams, and be in control of their finances. Melanie is passionate about empowering women, helping others get out of debt, and mental wellness. Here are a couple of the highlights you are going to hear:Becoming known for something and growing into something else Being hired as a money mindset coach (when she didn’t think she was one…)Melanie’s thoughts on the word “expert” and how it’s being used How she accidentally doubled her rates overnight & got better clients overnight Want to connect with our guest, Melanie Lockert?Site: www.mentalhealthandwealth.com and www.lolaretreat.comPodcast: https://mentalhealthandwealth.com/podcast/Book: Dear Debt IG: @melanielockert Here’s how to connect with Diann: The Driven Woman Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/thedrivenwoman/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/coachdiannwingert/ Are you ready to take things to the next level and work with Diann? Negative Self Talk
One of the things that is so frustrating about the human brain is how often it cranks out negative self-talk, no matter how smart, capable, or successful we are. In this solo episode of The Driven Woman Podcast, I spill the tea on how the brain actually works, why there is nothing wrong with you just because you have negative thoughts about yourself (spoiler alert, just about everyone does….) but how simple it actually is to change them and think better thoughts. I even share some of the exact tools and techniques I share with my private coaching clients. Some of the things we will cover in this episode are:The brain’s negativity bias Thoughts vs beliefsThe path of least effort Cognitive dissonance Whether you are a total brain science nerd or your eyes glaze over when someone starts talking about neurobiology, I promise you will not only understand every word of what I am sharing in this episode, but you may just stop feeling bad about how nasty your self-talk is, and start to change it, once and for all. Authentic Networking with Juliet Peay
If you are a newbie entrepreneur, coach, or service provider, this episode is full of wisdom and inspiration for you. Our guest, Juliet Peay, who recorded this interview with me on her 28th birthday, is one of those people who have really good instincts and trusts herself enough to follow them. Most new entrepreneurs follow what everyone else is doing and this is one of many distinctions that set Juliet apart. She decided a few months ago that corporate life was not for her and took a leap into entrepreneurship. She had no connections, no referrals sources, and no portfolio and instead of venturing into journalism where she at least had a degree, she followed her intuition to copywriting for online coaches, helpers, and healers. Even though she is at the very beginning of her entrepreneurial journey, she is already making really good choices and setting herself apart from the masses. I predict this driven woman is destined for success and I’m thrilled to introduce her. Highlights from today’s podcast interview: Juliet’s strategy for marathon networking on LinkedInTrusting your gut, instead of following the crowdUnconventional offers that set you apartWhy vanity metrics don’t impress her How to network as an introvert who takes initiative Apologies for all the mutual fangirling in this interview, but Juliet and I became fast friends and fans of one another's work and you will hear a lot of that. In the often superficial world of online business and marketing, it is so refreshing when you find the kind of person who is actually the real deal.
