ADHD-ish
ADHD-ish is THE podcast for business owners with big ideas and busy brains, whether you have an “official” ADHD diagnosis, or not.
We have expanded our focus so regardless of your gender or whether you identify as an entrepreneur, soloist, small business owner, creative, independent professional, freelancer, etc) if you are driven and distracted, color outside the lines and think outside the box, this podcast is for you.
People with these traits are far more likely to start a business because we love novelty and autonomy. But, running a business can be lonely and exhausting.
Having so many brilliant ideas means dozens of projects you’ve started and offers you’ve brainstormed, but few you’ve actually launched. Choosing what to say "yes" to and what to catch and release is even harder. This is exactly why I created ADHD-ish.
Each episode offers practical strategies, personal stories, and expert insights to help you harness your active mind and turn potential distractions into business success.
From productivity tools to mindset shifts, you’ll learn how to do business your way by
embracing your neurodivergent edge and turning passion and purpose into profit.
If you're new here, I’m your host, Diann Wingert, a psychotherapist-turned-business coach and ADHD-ish serial business owner, who struggled for years with cookie-cutter advice meant for “normies” and superficial ADHD hacks that didn’t go the distance.
In ADHD-ish, I’m sharing the best of what I’ve learned from running my own businesses and working with clients who are like-minded and like-brained.
Note: ADHD-ish does have an explicit rating, not because of an abundance of “F-bombs” but because I embrace creative self-expression for my guests and myself.
So, grab those headphones if you have littles around, and don’t forget to hit Follow/Subscribe so you don’t miss a single episode. Oh, and if you love the show, reviews are appreciated and so is sharing ADHD-ish with others!

Women & Money: It's Complicated with Melanie Lockert
The more women I talk to, the more I realize that almost all of us have “issues” with money. We either aren’t earning enough, are living beyond our means, are caught in the trap of student loan and/ or credit card debt, or are terrified to ask for what we actually need to float our boat. And this doesn’t even begin to cover the fact that most of us grew up hearing all manner of money nonsense from our parents that virtually guarantees we won’t be improving our relationship with money any time soon. Oh, yeah, it’s complicated all right. So, I invited speaker and writer, Melanie Lockert, author of the best-selling book ‘Dear Debt”, host of the Mental Health & Wealth Podcast, and a woman who has learned a thing or two about money, the hard way. She is also co-founder of the Lola Retreat which helps bold women face their fears, own their dreams, and be in control of their finances. Melanie is passionate about empowering women, helping others get out of debt, and mental wellness. Here are a couple of the highlights you are going to hear:Becoming known for something and growing into something else Being hired as a money mindset coach (when she didn’t think she was one…)Melanie’s thoughts on the word “expert” and how it’s being used How she accidentally doubled her rates overnight & got better clients overnight Want to connect with our guest, Melanie Lockert?Site: www.mentalhealthandwealth.com and www.lolaretreat.comPodcast: https://mentalhealthandwealth.com/podcast/Book: Dear Debt IG: @melanielockert Here’s how to connect with Diann: The Driven Woman Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/thedrivenwoman/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/coachdiannwingert/ Are you ready to take things to the next level and work with Diann? Negative Self Talk
One of the things that is so frustrating about the human brain is how often it cranks out negative self-talk, no matter how smart, capable, or successful we are. In this solo episode of The Driven Woman Podcast, I spill the tea on how the brain actually works, why there is nothing wrong with you just because you have negative thoughts about yourself (spoiler alert, just about everyone does….) but how simple it actually is to change them and think better thoughts. I even share some of the exact tools and techniques I share with my private coaching clients. Some of the things we will cover in this episode are:The brain’s negativity bias Thoughts vs beliefsThe path of least effort Cognitive dissonance Whether you are a total brain science nerd or your eyes glaze over when someone starts talking about neurobiology, I promise you will not only understand every word of what I am sharing in this episode, but you may just stop feeling bad about how nasty your self-talk is, and start to change it, once and for all. Authentic Networking with Juliet Peay
If you are a newbie entrepreneur, coach, or service provider, this episode is full of wisdom and inspiration for you. Our guest, Juliet Peay, who recorded this interview with me on her 28th birthday, is one of those people who have really good instincts and trusts herself enough to follow them. Most new entrepreneurs follow what everyone else is doing and this is one of many distinctions that set Juliet apart. She decided a few months ago that corporate life was not for her and took a leap into entrepreneurship. She had no connections, no referrals sources, and no portfolio and instead of venturing into journalism where she at least had a degree, she followed her intuition to copywriting for online coaches, helpers, and healers. Even though she is at the very beginning of her entrepreneurial journey, she is already making really good choices and setting herself apart from the masses. I predict this driven woman is destined for success and I’m thrilled to introduce her. Highlights from today’s podcast interview: Juliet’s strategy for marathon networking on LinkedInTrusting your gut, instead of following the crowdUnconventional offers that set you apartWhy vanity metrics don’t impress her How to network as an introvert who takes initiative Apologies for all the mutual fangirling in this interview, but Juliet and I became fast friends and fans of one another's work and you will hear a lot of that. In the often superficial world of online business and marketing, it is so refreshing when you find the kind of person who is actually the real deal. Science Nerd to TikTok Star: A Client Success Story with Danielle Meitiv
I don’t often get to work with clients at the very beginning of their entrepreneurial journey, and it is very exciting when I do. When I heard from Danielle Meitiv she was just a few months into her business and even though she is a woman in her 50’s she built an audience of over 150k people in just a few months in a place you wouldn’t expect to find her, TikTok. Over the 3 months that we worked together, Danielle and I clarified her audience, her offer, her business model, her marketing platform, and her long-term goal of thought leadership in what she calls the next wave of health care. When you coach someone as smart as Danielle, getting them to understand that they are being hindered by the fact that they want to do everything and have the energy and bandwidth to do so. Danielle’s dramatic outcome from our work together was largely a result of her willingness to embrace intentional constraint, one of my key coaching concepts. I can’t wait to share this inspiring woman with you! Today’s guest and Client Success Story had already been successful in a previous career when she decided to start helping other people heal from thyroid issues. Planning for Success with Mridu Parikh
Far too many female entrepreneurs fail to reach their goals because they don’t plan for success. They think that passion, energy, and creativity are enough and may reject the idea of planning as unnecessary, irrelevant, or just too painful. I used to be one of them and gave myself every possible excuse for why I couldn’t plan when I was actually afraid I wouldn’t follow through. Today’s guest, Mridu Parikh, a former professional organizer turned productivity coach, author, podcaster and speaker is obsessed with planning and believes that not only does planning create freedom, but that we will never reach our most important goals without a plan. Mridu specializes in helping overwhelmed mompreneurs prioritize and systemize so they take control of their demands and distractions – at home and at work. Here are a couple of the highlights you are going to hear:Mridu says most women treat their brain like a warehouse, but we should think of it as a factory instead How to stay focused on your most important goal by anchoring to it every day with this simple technique Clarity comes from action, not thinking Want to connect with our guest, Mridu Parikh?Site: https://lifeisorganized.comPodcast: https://lifeisorganized.com/podcast/IG: https://www.instagram.com/lifeisorganizedLI: https://www.linkedin.com/in/mridu-parikh/Freebies: 21 Killer hacks To Stop Feeling Overwhelmed: http://lifeisorganized.com/resources/Mridu is the founder of Life Is Organized, author of the Amazon bestseller, Accomplish It, and the host of the Productivity on Purpose podcast. Better Boundaries-A Client Success Story: Kris Zarnoch
This week’s Client Success Story episode features Kris Zarnoch who is a podcast editor and producer, wife, and mom of a special needs son. Kris hired me to help her with productivity challenges related to being a creative freelancer, who was working from home, during the pandemic. She struggled with setting boundaries and establishing the value of her work.During our work together, Kris learned how to say no & leverage her time by:Hitting the pause button before answering when asked for helpKnowing you can revoke your ‘yes’ at any timeBoundaries are the ultimate self-care It’s OK to disappoint others so you don’t have to keep disappointing yourself No is a complete sentence, you don’t need to explain or apologize It’s better to do less and give people your full attention Better boundaries = a better business And was able to be more assertive in offering her services by:Establish what makes you & your service unique Share your offer without compromise or apologyConnect with those who place a high value on your offerOptimize and leverage your time to focus on revenue-generating tasks Don’t confuse your value with your worth (one may be negotiable, the other never is)Connect with Kris Zarnoch:https://kmzencreative.com/https://www.instagram.com/kmzen_creative/ Here’s how to connect with Diann: The Driven Woman Facebook Group:https://www.facebook.com/groups/thedrivenwoman/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/coachdiannwingert/ Are you ready to level up in your business and life? Something to Prove with Kellie Roy
Today’s guest, Kellie Roy, knew from the age of 18 that she wanted to be a casting director, even before she knew what it was called. She loved movies and had her favorite actors and actresses, often thinking “I wish this actress would get a chance to appear in bigger movies so more people would know how awesome she is.” Once she learned that there was a job where she could do exactly that, she was determined to follow that path and has never looked back. There are only about 2300 casting directors in the entertainment industry and Kellie knew that she would be one of them at an age and stage when most of us couldn’t figure out which lipstick to wear to a party. I was totally fascinated with her clarity and certainty and just knew she would be an interesting guest for the podcast. Kellie is an excellent example of how we can gain confidence by facing our fears, embracing failure, and developing resiliency along the way. Other fascinating things about Kellie:Being told “You're not that good” by her community college basketball coach motivated her to improve, resulting in a basketball scholarship at San Francisco State University. Being diagnosed and treated for a communication disorder inspired her to join the speech and debate team, after 6 years of speech therapy Her two older brothers excelled in sports and debate inspired her, instead of intimidating her Her relationship with imposter syndrome, in spite of her determination and successThe story Kellie told about the movie she was most excited to have made: The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then The Bigfoot: https://youtu.be/cFHJMBQIav0To see a list of films that Kelly has worked on here is her IMDb page: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm2689873/The article mentioned during this episode: Atlantic Magazine’s The Confidence Gap is the subject of episode #71 of this podcast. Building Boldness: Cultivating the Confidence Habit
I have been working with women for many years and one of the more perplexing things I have encountered is how often I witness bold, brilliant, badass women doubting themselves, settling for less than they really want, and holding themselves back from the level of success they deserve. I believe that all behavior is habit-forming, so in order to become more confident, women need to stop thinking so much and just act. We need to commit to doing work that is good enough, instead of striving for perfection. We must learn to act before we think we are ready. And, because moving away from comfort and toward fear is counterintuitive, we would do well to surround ourselves with other women who are committed to doing the same. Confidence is not just feeling good about yourself, and it is not a reward for good work, but a skill and a choice. Confidence is a belief in one’s ability to succeed, a belief that stimulates action. Taking action increases our belief that we can succeed and confidence accumulates. This is the essence of The Confidence Habit. Let’s connect on Instagram: Instagram: https://bit.ly/DWC-InstagramReady to Work with Me?You are serious about addressing your distractibility, procrastination, and perfectionism & their impact on your business and life, and going through the process with like-minded and like brained women is exactly what you need. So, that’s all for now, Driven Woman! See you next week, when my guest Kellie Roy joins us to talk about what drives her and how she became a successful Hollywood casting director.

Driven by Purpose with Kyra Mitchell-Lewis
My special guest today is Kyra Mitchell Lewis, who started Glow Up, Gyrl, an online membership community for women who are looking for balance and purpose in their lives, and Glow Getter University, with tracks for personal evolution and entrepreneurship. There’s a link to a free account if you scroll down in the show notes. If you have been listening to The Driven Woman Podcast for a while, you have heard me say that any woman can be an entrepreneur if she really wants to, and Kyra possesses many of the traits I believe entrepreneurs must have in order to be successful in the crazy world of online business. As you listen to this interview, you will readily see that her mindset is her biggest asset. Nothing is going to stop her, discourage her or slow her roll. She is probably one of the most positive, optimistic, and resilient women I have met since starting this podcast. We did two back-to-back recordings, for The Driven Woman and Kyra’s podcast, Glow Up, Gyrl, and had several tech challenges that interrupted the recording experience. Instead of getting frustrated or angry, each time we had to stop and start over, Kyra just laughed and picked right back up again. Key takeaways: Why Kyra started Glow Up, Gyrl & who she servesThe difference between Kyra and her husband as entrepreneurs How she leads from an attitude of gratitude When I connect with another female entrepreneur who is as driven, hardworking, and generous as Kyra Mitchell Lewis, I am eager to partner with her again, which is why I said YES to Kyra’s invitation to speak at her online summit on Thursday, October 28th. Whether you are an entrepreneur or just want to evolve to the next version of yourself, this summit is a must. The price point is very accessible, and the lineup of speakers includes confidence, mindset, success, and business coaches, including me! Radical Self Acceptance - A Client Success Story: Meet Tanya
One of my favorite things about Client Success Story episodes is that I get to share some of my favorite people with you. Today we are joined by my coaching client, Tanya, a project manager, wife, and mom who had already burned out once and was on the fast track to a second round. When she first decided to work with me, after hearing me being interviewed on a podcast, Tanya was feeling overwhelmed, defeated, and had lost confidence in her ability to manage her responsibilities at work and at home. Tanya made some really significant changes during our work together, including:Learned to say no, set limits and boundariesEmbraced radical self-acceptance, and let go of apology, guilt & shamePrioritized self-care & work/family balance More respect from both family & peersEliminated her need for anxiety medication She now refers to herself as Tanya 2.0!
