Talk Toomey with Joshua Toomey

Toomey and Akin are back this week to talk all the nonsense and rock n roll! The guys start the show with thoughts on paying for premium podcasts, Lars Ulrich talking about Metallica having a decade left and Toomey recaps his Florida trip. Joshua and Chris talk in depth about the Morbid Angel show and the tragedies that surrounded the tornado. The guys take a deep dive into the Ace Frehley vs Paul Stanley news. For recommendations this week, they talk about The Whale, the new Waco documentary and Gideon. 

Tyler Riley of Gideon joins the Talk Toomey Podcast to discuss their latest release, MORE POWER. MORE PAIN. Tyler talks about the fan reaction to the album and actually searching out comments online. The guys speak on sitting on the record for a year and having to stop tweaking the record. Tyler and Joshua talk about Tyler growing up in Nashville and they look back on classic venues and shows that came through town. He then talks about the newest members of the band and what they added to the band. The guys dive into writing riffs and the pain of bringing a riff to the band and getting rejection. Dani goes into his vocal inspirations and also talk some nu metal and how that is influencing new music. Dani talks about not touring the states in 13 years and the mystique around the band in America. They end the chat with some Music For Nations talk. 

Toomey and Akin start the show with an update on Chris' arm and the story of the Finnish Metal Doctor! Toomey then dives into the recent Life Of Agony 30th Anniversary Show for River Runs Red. Joshua talks about the setlist, crowd reactions and the band crushing the stage. The guys talk some OzzFest memories. Mudvayne is going on tour, Misfits and Megadeth to play together in Florida and Bret Michaels is releasing an inspirational book. Joshua and Chris then discuss Drowning Pool going back to an old singer and a little Saliva talk. The documentary on PornHub is discussed. 

Johannes Eckerström of Avatar returns to Talk Toomey this week to discuss Avatar's latest release, Dance Devil Dance. Johannes starts the talk with his recent trip to the dog park and talks about dressing up his chihuahua in metal clothes. The guys dive into the new album and Johannes speaks about starting their own label. He also addresses the "this is our horniest album" quote. The videos for the album are dissected and some great satanic panic discussion. The guys end with balloon animals talk, Orbit Culture and if the makeup changes him onstage. 

Toomey and Akin start the show with some Metallica talk and dive into the story of Cliff Burton joining the band. The guys talk some Suicide Silence and Toomey's interview recap. Louder Than Life lineup is out they go over the festival and who they would like to see. Lars Ulrich says Lulu has aged well, Robb Flynn has some thoughts on the 100 Greatest Metal Songs list and Vio-lence played a show with zero original members. Ripper says he would fill in for Phil Anselmo if needed, Morgan Lander says it's time for new Kittie music and Tony Campos says it's up to the fans if they want new Static-X music. The guys gives some tv and music recommendations. 

Mark Heylmun of Suicide Silence joins Joshua Toomey and Talk Toomey to discuss their latest album, Remember... You Must Die. Mark and Joshua dive into the Suicide Silence writing process, where all the riffs originate and the Alter of Self video. The guys talk about the uplifting album title and how heavy the record needed to be. Mark talks about playing the first Pantera show back and the feelings around the bands on the topic. Joshua and Mark finish with talk about album cover artist, David Van Gough, and the cover art of Remember...We Must Die. 

Toomey and Akin start the show recapping their respective interviews from the week. Akin spoke about Mikkey Dee of Motorhead interview and having to record with him at 6am. Toomey then talks about his interview with Burton C Bell and the takeaway from all the metal sites running with his comments on the new Fear Factory news. Morgan Lander of Kittie has given her two cents on the Pantera celebration. Dave Lombardo will be releasing a solo album. Shavo Odadjian of System of a Down is also releasing a solo album and the guys talk about the upcoming DevilDriver single. Jeff Scott Soto weighs in on his bandmate Dave Ellefson. The guys discuss the latest Chris Rock special and gives some music recommendations.

Burton C Bell returns to that Talk Toomey Podcast to discuss his upcoming photography exhibition, Paradise Found. Burton and Joshua talk about his history with photography and his love for taking and developing photos since elementary school. Paradise Found revolves around abandoned industrial buildings and the guys discuss how these buildings are remnants of another time. Burton speaks on the Dye Sublimation process on aluminum and how it is the perfect platform for these prints. He then talks about meeting Vincent Castigilia and getting the exhibition together for his gallery. Burton talks about his current musical projects and drops how he is doing vocals on a Rammstein tribute record and tells a story of hanging with Rammstein in a shared dressing room. Burton does answer a few Fear Factory questions. Burton finishes with more details on his exhibition. More Info on the exhibit:The series features twenty original, full-color photographs of abandoned industrial buildings taken in darkness and fog from 2002-2003. BELL's images are printed on aluminum using the Dye Sublimation process - an approach BELL calls "celluloid impressionism." The photographs are representational of BELL’s industrial and science fiction aesthetic.The Vincent Castiglia Gallery, which opened in 2022 to showcase Castiglia’s tattoo designs and selection of limited-edition painting prints, will be premiering BURTON C. BELL’s work on March 11th.
