How to Make Running Sustainable for You, the Community, and the Planet, with Tina Muir and Zoë Rom

When we hear the word “sustainability”, we immediately think that word just has to do with taking care of the planet. But as a runner, it means so much more than that. It also means taking care of you and your community, all while supporting the planet that supports us in our running goals. And in this episode, we’re joined by elite athletes Tina Muir and Zoë Rom who share practical advice on how to be a more sustainable runner in these three areas. That way, you can continue to run at your very best while also taking care of the planet along the way. Tina and Zoë Rom are both elite runners with impressive resumes in the running world. And they are also authors of the new book: Becoming a Sustainable Runner: A Guide to Running for Life, Community, and Planet. Tina is a former elite runner, and host of the Running for Real podcast. Since retiring from racing professionally, she approaches running in a way that sustains her physically, mentally, and emotionally, and has discovered that that means getting out on the trails for long distances. She ran her first ultra a few weeks ago, the Bryce Canyon 50 Mile, and finished first female and third overall. She also devotes herself to her other passion, environmentalism, and has worked with the United Nations on campaigns related to climate change and humanitarian affairs. Zoë is an elite trail runner and award-winning journalist who specializes in science, environmental, and adventure journalism. Her ultras include first place finishes at the Crested Butte 100k and Athens Big Fork Trail Marathon, and two consecutive wins at the War Eagle 50k.
