3082 Much or Little?

Are you feeling overwhelmed by the constant demands of your busy schedule? Have you ever wondered how to fit in more of what you truly want or need to do? If so, it's time to start asking yourself, "Much or little?" It's easy to get caught up in the pressure to be productive all the time. But if we're always on the go, we risk neglecting our mental and physical health. Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? We live in a society that idolizes productivity and multitasking, but at what cost? It's essential to evaluate how much we can realistically take on without sacrificing our mental and physical health. Sometimes, we need to ask ourselves, "Is it worth it?" or "What are the consequences of saying yes?" Remember, you have the power to choose how you spend your precious time. Don't let the fear of missing out or society's expectations dictate your schedule. Instead, prioritize what really matters to you and block out time for those activities. The object of all work is production or accomplishment, and to either of these ends, there must be forethought, system, planning, intelligence, and honest purpose, as well as perspiration. It emphasizes the need for preparation and planning in order to truly accomplish something meaningful. Our kids complain at school that the only thing they get is busy work from their teachers. Why are we doing this to ourselves after we grow up? (Well, that can be for another episode.) But when you're feeling overwhelmed, take a deep breath and remind yourself that less is often more. In fact, slowing down is speeding up. So take those breaks to help you be more productive in the long run. Practice self-care, delegate tasks, and avoid distractions to stay focused on your goals. Whether it's pursuing your passion, spending time with loved ones, or simply taking a few moments to relax, make it a priority. 3081 Wanna Be Happy?

The world can seem cold and dark. You might be stuck in the pain, and all you can do is blame. But why give in and complain? Take heart to who matters; you wanna be happy. Happiness is one of those things that when you aren't feeling it, you want to feel it. Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? You take yourself down memory lane (usually too often and too far), and take inventory of all the things where you felt lost, disconnected, unsure of yourself; just questioning everything about everyone, especially yourself. Fear jumps up, front and center, and all you can do is coward back to the corner of rejection and your foolish ways of discounting all that you have to offer the world. Sound all too familiar? Sound a little too close to home? Happiness is not felt, it's created by your actions, thoughts, words; how you communicate with the world you touch. But the first communication has to start inwardly. You have to see the happiness within to be able to give it to others. You know everyone wants to be happy. It's a common thread that runs through all of us. But as you know, happiness is not something that comes naturally to everyone. It's not something that you wait for or hope for. It's not something that falls into your lap. Happiness is a choice, and it's up to you to make it happen. The old saying, "Do what you love, and you'll never work a day in your life," is true. You have to work within your calling, your passion, your gifts and talents, and your interests to be truly happy. When you do what you love, you feel fulfilled, energized, and motivated. You are more likely to create that feeling of bliss, the happiness in your everyday tasks and challenges that come your way. Life comes with a lot of changes. Change is a constant. But one thing that doesn't have to change is how to make a choice and choose to be happy when you create your now. The K.I.S.S. ~ Create your now! You wanna be happy! Your life doesn't have to resemble calm, cool, and collected to be in a happy state. There are many days that I run around going from one project to the next, hoping to keep my mind in place, but happiness still abounds. Happiness is not a choice of when, it's a matter of perspective. 1. Be present Presence conquers fear that lingers in the hallways of your heart. You don't have to have all the money in the world to be happy. But you do have to present in order to use it. Right? You can't interject the feelings of warm snuggles and smiles unless you're present. It's easy to get caught up in worries about the future or regrets about the past. Instead, try to focus on being content in the moment. This might mean taking a few moments to appreciate the beauty of nature, connecting with loved ones, or engaging in a mindfulness or meditation practice. You have to slow down to speed up. Presence also invokes the simplicity of balance. All seems right with your world when you feel like you're in control. Life may be throwing curveballs, yet you're catching everyone of them. Not much has to throw you off base. Be present. 2. Be grateful When you focus on what you are grateful for, it sets the stage for acceptance and genuine compassion for what's to come. As much as you think you're in control, you so are not. You only control yourself. But what you can control is the environment you create around who you are. If you feel welcomed in your own space, imagine how someone will feel welcomed by your grace. So when you step out of your comfort zone with gratitude, the fear of the unknown fades, which makes way for better days. Identify what you want in this season of your life. Break them down into smaller, actionable steps. Don't try to do everything in one day! You're fooling yourself. But you can borrow Arnold's movie quote, "I'll be back.". If you did everything in one day, what would you have to look forward to tomorrow? As you take A.I.M. in your every day, you master your life in every way. But don't forget the most important step. In all that you do, do it for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31). This is the beginning of choosing to see life in a unique manner, not expecting something from your success or failure, but recognizing that with each step you take, happiness is homemade. The world can seem cold and dark. You might be stuck in the pain, and all you can do is blame. But why give in and complain? Take heart to who matters; you wanna be happy. "Be present. Be incredible. 3079 Ready for an Upgrade?

Marriage is a beautiful bond between two people. But maybe you're ready for an upgrade, thinking the grass is always greener on the other side when it comes to your spouse. Often, the best way to upgrade your relationship is to upgrade yourself. When you think about it, as two people come together, each with their own set of beliefs, values, and habits, there will inevitably be disagreements, misunderstandings, and hurt feelings. So instead of viewing the difficulties of marriage as a sign that something is wrong with our spouse, we should consider it as an opportunity for growth and self-improvement. By upgrading ourselves, we can improve the overall quality of our relationship and experience deeper love and connection with our partner. Now one reason why you should consider upgrading yourself in your marriage is that you have the most control over yourself and your actions. It's easy to blame your spouse for the problems in the relationship, but if you take responsibility for your own growth and improvement, you can create positive changes that will benefit you both. Yet, if you keep doing things the same way, you can't expect different results. Coming from this perspective, too, upgrading ourselves can lead to greater satisfaction and happiness in our own lives. When we take the time to work on personal growth and development, we cultivate a sense of calling, fulfillment, and inner peace that can have a positive impact on all areas of our lives, including our relationships. Ask questions, listen to their responses, and respond with empathy and compassion. Communication is about comprehension. Understand to the fullest. 2. Show appreciation unexpectedly It's easy to take your spouse for granted and only focus on their faults. You knock them down more than you build them up. But if you want to upgrade your relationship, it's important to appreciate the things your spouse does well. Take the time to acknowledge and thank your partner for the things they do for you. 3. Prioritize intimacy daily Marriage is more than just a friendship or companionship. Physical intimacy is a crucial aspect of a healthy relationship. Make time for intimacy, whether it's a date night or just cuddling on the couch. When we prioritize intimacy, we deepen our emotional connection with our spouse. 4. Work on your personal development and growth When you work on your personal development, you become better a person, which translates into becoming a better spouse. Take time to work on who you are becoming, know where you fall short, prioritize self-care, and challenge yourself to be better today than yesterday. When you take care of yourself, you bring more to the relationship table. 5. Practice forgiveness for yourself and let go of grudges that you hold Forgiveness is essential in any relationship, but it's particularly critical in a marriage. Holding onto resentment and grudges can hinder growth and progress in yourself. If you can't let go of things for yourself, you will not be able to let go of things done to you. Practice forgiveness, especially for the smaller things. All of this leads to loving your reflection. The more you love yourself, the more love you have to give away. Marriage is an ongoing journey. Love grows where love is planted. There are always new ways to upgrade and improve. But by focusing on your reflection, you will experience deeper love and stronger connections. 3078 How Many Summers Do You Have Left with Your Kids?

Summer is a season that brings joy and memories to many of us, and it's especially important for parents who have children. Stop and think. How many summers do you have left with your kids? The reality is that you only have 18 summers with your children before they grow up and leave the nest, or at least they're more on their own and less dependent on you. But sometimes, life gets in the way. Between the laundry and dishes, you've got education and tires to replace. That's what I found myself working on the last few days. Two vehicles, 8 new tires. However, we can't get entangled with only the mundane things that pull us away from the little things that matter most in the long run. Your children need you!! And believe it or not, you need your children. My children have taught me so much about myself that, at times, it's pretty scary. Just look in the cute mirror you brought into the world. How are you spending your summers? Just a couple of days ago, it was the summer solstice; the longest day of the year and the first official day of summer. How did you spend that day? What I am finding is that families are being challenged in what they do together, because so much is brought to us at our fingertips. Look at our technological advancements. So if you want to be a part of your child's life more so than just a disciplinarian, you have to be intentional about how you spend your time together, especially your summers. You only have a total of 18 and counting. Now, I get that you will still have summers together after they move out. But it's not the same. Your greatest influence is created in the four walls you live in. And that comes from their formative young child-rearing years. So, what can you do to create memories, build strong relationships, and raise your kids well every summer? You've gotta come together to stay together. The K.I.S.S. ~ Come together! It doesn't have to break the bank. I really want you to think about some out-of-the-box ideas. Go beyond the norm. Because that's where your memories will be born. 1. Create a Summer Bucket List: Sit down with your kids and create a list of things you all want to do over the summer. This can include things like visiting a new museum or theme park, camping, or trying a new restaurant. 2. Plan a Family Staycation: You don't need to travel far to have a great summer vacation. Explore your city, plan a day trip, or even just have a movie marathon at home. The important thing is to spend quality time together as a family. 3. Get Outside: There's no better way to enjoy the summer sun than to spend time outdoors. Take a hike, go for a bike ride, or have a picnic in the park. Take a cooking class, learn how to paint, or start a new sport together. 5. Volunteer Together: Volunteering as a family not only helps others in need, but also teaches your kids valuable life lessons. Help out at a local food bank or animal shelter, or participate in a beach clean up. Summer is great for memories to be made. It's usually a time of calm and adventure. So create an environment where your children can thrive and grow up to become productive adults. Every summer provides an opportunity to build strong relationships and create lasting memories with our children that will last a lifetime. Don't take the summers you have with your kiddos for granted. Embrace every summer and make the most of the time you have together. 3077 Hold the Line

Even when life becomes a little rocky, you are called to utilize your gifts and share your talents. Don't worry about a thing. When the going gets tough, hold the line. Life is always going to have ups and downs. Maybe yesterday was one of those days. If you had young children, the longest day of the year is not always the best. You can't control the weather, what happens to you, or what happens around you. However, you can control your response. Hold the line. The K.I.S.S. ~ Hold the line! Believe it or not, you are stronger than you think you are. You can handle much more than what you think you can. Think of it this way. When you feel like giving up, it means persevering. It means staying in the game even when you want to quit. It means refusing to give up because you believe in yourself, and you believe in your dreams. Holding the line isn't always easy. It requires you to keep moving forward, even when you feel like you're not making any progress. But the truth is, every step you take is one step closer to achieving your goals. You have the opportunity to learn and grow. Look at it this way. As my good friend, Dan Miller says, "What does this make possible?" You get to choose to those experiences to become stronger and more resilient. "Resilience does not happen because life is easy. No matter how small it may seem, it is a step in the right direction. Then, be present. We don't worry about what's next or what's behind you. Stay in the present and be intentional about making the most of every opportunity. Peter Gabriel said, "I hold the line, the line of strength that pulls me from the fear." Now Gabriel is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He rose to fame as the original lead singer of the progressive rock band Genesis. What I found very interesting is his early influences. And he said, "Hymns played quite a large part. They were the closest I came to soul music before I discovered soul music. There are certain hymns that you can scream your lungs out on, and I used to love that. It was great when you used to get the old shivers down the back." Take a page out from Peter Gabriel. 3076 Are You Afraid of the Scale?

It's easy to become obsessed with the number on the scale, especially when you've been taught to associate your worth with your weight. Are you afraid of the scale? Losing weight and living a healthy life is challenging, especially for those of us who are afraid of the scale. Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? While it's important to know where you stand in terms of your weight and overall health, it's equally important to focus on the lifestyle you're creating over time with consistent actions. How long has it taken you to get to where you are today? If you're talking about a decade, then why do you want to lose weight in 3 months? Come on! Let's use a little common sense so we don't become obsessive over the number on the scale. Now, you've probably heard the basics of reaching your desirable weight. Set realistic and achievable goals Track your progress Focus on the benefits Don't compare yourself to others Patience is key All of that sounds wonderful. But in a practical sense, it's a bunch of hogwash! How many times have you found yourself in that position, yet not reaching what you were going after? Healthy living is beyond tough. And there are so many temptations that lure you in the wrong direction. So let's take a different approach. Extinguish all temptations! The K.I.S.S. ~ Extinguish all temptations! And that might be getting rid of the children. Just kidding!! We love them, but we do cook for them. However, I want you to look at your environment. What needs to change that you can control? Now that's an important factor. We can want to go away for months or a year, and do our own thing. But realistically... not gonna happen! Kitchen - What can be tossed away or cleaned out? Maybe you create your own cabinet or area. Get rid of the stuff in the pantry that doesn't serve you. Replace it with only what you need for a week, at most 2 weeks at a time. Game Room or Movie Theatre or Family - Do you have snacks readily available? Maybe you have a small fridge that needs to be stocked differently. Bedroom - Where are your mirrors? Maybe you can strategically place them so you are NOT obsessed with the process of healthy living. Move the full-length mirror to another room and use it only when absolutely necessary. Closest - How many clothes are hanging up that you can't wear; too small or too big? Clear out the clothes that don't fit. You can choose to donate some if you want. Or pack them away for 6 months. You will know when your body is changing. Then you can go shopping in your own storage area. Patio - Is the furniture comfortable for you now? Depending on your size, you may not want to sit where you used to hang out. So change up the area. Don't spend a lot of money, but get a chair you want to be in. Who doesn't need to be outside for some Vitamin D? Refrigerator - What can you replace for your easy grabs? Bedroom - How does your bedroom make you feel? If you are one who doesn't sleep well and there is extra tension, that in itself can lead to stress and an increase in cortisol. Extinguish the temptations! Get rid of what's not serving you. It might be a forever goodbye. Or it might be a "See ya later, alligator." Doing what seems obvious might be the most challenging of you reaching your goals. And keep in mind. You are looking at a lifestyle. This is a long-term commitment. Don't rush what needs to be built over time. You got this! "Train for life. 3075 Start the Next Chapter
