3855 Knowing Your Father's Heart
Life pulls us in every direction—good things, bad things, urgent things, distracting things. Even blessings can become blinders that keep us from the most essential relationship we have: the one with God. How often during your day do you pause and come to Him? How often do you look up from your to-do list, your worries, your wins, to simply be with the Father, knowing your Father's heart? Scripture calls us to this daily, intentional closeness. Psalm 46:10 commands, "Be still, and know that I am God." Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at the Kairos FREE Online Community. https://createyournow.com This stillness isn't passive; it's a choosing, a turning your eyes off the noise and onto the One who holds your heart. How different would your day be if you leaned in fully to that moment instead of chasing the next distraction? Consider Jesus' words in John 10:14-15: "I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me—just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep." The depth of intimacy here is staggering. Jesus doesn't just know us by name; He knows us completely, and we're invited to know Him fully—and through Him, to know the Father's heart. Look back at the story of Mary and Martha in Luke 10:38-42. Both women welcomed Jesus into their home. Martha busied herself with preparations, distractions of "good things" that pulled her away from the heart of the matter. Mary chose the better part—sitting at Jesus' feet, listening, learning, being present. Jesus affirmed Mary's choice, saying that it would not be taken away from her. This story isn't just about hospitality but about what really fills and sustains the soul: knowing God. The K.I.S.S. ~ Know your Father's heart! What would it look like in your daily life to "sit at your Father's feet?" What if you started every morning in quiet conversation with Him? What if, instead of rushing straight into your agenda, you paused to ask, "Father, what do You want me to see today? What part of You do I need to trust more?" Imagine releasing anxiety, frustration, even insecurity—all because you've acknowledged, "My Father knows me first. He holds my best interest in His heart. I am not alone." When you know your Father's heart, you carry peace into the middle of chaos. You let go of the compulsion to control and the fear that you have to figure it all out yourself. God knew you before you took your first breath (Psalm 139:13-16). He knows the winding paths of your life, your deepest fears, your secret joys. He is not the distracted parent who only occasionally checks in; He is the constant, loving Shepherd who laid down His life for you because you mattered to Him first. So today, ask yourself: How much of my life am I really living with my Father? How often do I come to Him and just know His heart? This is not a one-time decision—it's a daily posture. It's choosing Mary's better part over Martha's busyness. It's keeping your eyes on God, not just in crisis, but in every breath. When you practice knowing your Father's heart, your life changes from frantic striving to peaceful abiding. It's the place where strength is restored, burdens are lifted, and your soul is truly satisfied. So pause. Look up. Come home to the One who loves you more deeply than you could ever imagine. "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you." (James 4:8) Keeping your eyes on God isn't optional—it's everything. "Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!" #SweetSpirit #CreateYourNow #SoulfulSunday 💍 The Christmas Ring by Karen Kingsbury: (https://karenkingsbury.com) 🔔 Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? 3854 Embrace the Uncharted
Marriage is the union of two imperfect people coming together to build a life that's uniquely theirs. It isn't a smooth, predictable journey—it's a voyage filled with unexpected twists, turns, and new territories neither partner has navigated before. When you say "I do," you make a commitment not just to love but to embrace the uncharted together. Here's the truth: in marriage, differences in opinion, dreams, and desires will surface. That's inevitable. If you want a marriage that lasts and thrives, you need more than shared goals—you need the willingness to embrace the unknown, to welcome changes and challenges as part of your shared journey. Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at the Kairos FREE Online Community. https://createyournow.com But there's a catch—it can't be about serving yourself or forcing your agenda. Marriage demands a shared vision and teamwork. It requires trust in each other's intentions, respect for each partner's hopes, and a heart that chooses unconditional love every single day. Imagine marriage as a ship sailing across vast oceans. On calm days, the voyage is pleasant, but far off, storms may brew without warning. You don't get to pick the weather, but you do get to choose how you respond. Together, you navigate—whether that means steering through the storm, finding new routes around it, or simply holding tight together until it passes. The key to weathering these unknown seasons is commitment. Not just to a person, but to the partnership—the promise that neither of you will face the turbulent waters alone. You get married to do life together, to share the sails and the struggles, the victories and the hard lessons. The K.I.S.S. ~ Embrace the uncharted! So how can couples build that unshakable bond, especially when facing the unknown? Here are three essentials to hold onto: 1. Communicate Without Walls When the path isn't clear, honesty is your compass. Share your fears, hopes, and uncertainties openly. Don't let disagreements turn into silent battles. Speak your truths with respect, and listen not just to respond, but to understand. 2. Anchor in Trust Trust isn't given—it's earned and reinforced every day. Believe in each other's intentions, even when the road gets tough. Trust that you're both committed to steering the marriage forward, even if you don't always see eye to eye on the direction. 3. Choose Love in Action Love is more than a feeling; it's a daily choice to prioritize each other's well-being. Even when the journey gets rough, showing up with kindness, patience, and grace keeps the relationship afloat. It's in those actions that love anchors the ship. Marriage demands energy and effort—like adjusting the sails against changing winds. But the reward is a shared life that's resilient, vibrant, and worth every challenge. So when you face seasons you haven't encountered before, don't shy away. Lean in. Embrace the uncharted, because that's exactly where true growth and deep love reside. You didn't get married to do life alone. You got married to face whatever comes—together. "Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!" #RelationshipBuilders #CreateYourNow #LoveAndMarriage 💍 The Christmas Ring by Karen Kingsbury: (https://karenkingsbury.com) 🔔 Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? 3853 Get Louder With The Truth
Brace yourself—parenting is not all sunshine and rainbows. If you're expecting an easy road, think again. Most parents start with hope in their hearts and dreams of perfect moments. But the reality? It's a wild mix of heartbreaks and breakthroughs, chaos and calm, frustration and joy. All the more reason to get louder with the truth. Life as a parent is like a complex recipe: a dash of sweetness tangled with a pinch of saltiness, some sour moments, and unexpected bursts of sugar. It's messy. It's unpredictable. And it's real. Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at the Kairos FREE Online Community. https://createyournow.com So how do you make it through the tough parts when everything feels overwhelming? How do you survive the chaos long enough to soak in the blessings that come with parenting? Maybe it comes to survive is to soak. The K.I.S.S. ~ To survive is to soak! How many times have you actually thought about getting through your day as a parent and the blessings you've seen for just a moment with your children? Not many of us do that. We are too busy, too frazzled, too tired. Enough is enough, because in our reality, we are not enough. But my friend, that's not the truth. So it's time to get louder with the truth. Here are three hard truths every parent needs to own to understand the crucial role you play in your child's life: Your Best Is More Than Enough You will have days when you feel you're failing. When the exhaustion wants to win, and shortcuts seem tempting. But showing up in love, even imperfectly, shapes your child's world in ways you can't see yet. Your effort is not invisible. Remember, consistency beats perfection every time. Your Voice Shapes Their Identity Every word you speak echoes inside your child's mind. Encouragement builds confidence; criticism chips away at it. When life throws curveballs, get louder with the truth that uplifts—remind them they are worthy, capable, and deeply loved, no matter what. Faith and Strength Aren't Optional Parenting demands courage—courage to face tough conversations, to set boundaries, and to keep going even when hope feels scarce. Prayer (or your chosen form of grounding) can anchor you. Complaining won't move you forward, but a relentless belief in your purpose will carry you through the darkest storms. So, Mom and Dad, when you feel drained, don't quit. Don't settle for the easy way out. Keep pushing with the love that only you can give. Be fierce. Be brave. Lean on your faith when the weight feels too heavy. The truth is loud, bold, and unshakable. Make it your anthem. Because your child needs to hear it—over the noise, beyond the doubts, straight from your heart. God's got you. Now go get louder with your truth. Get Louder with the Truth by Kristianne Wargo When midnight whispers doubt and fear, And silence seems the safest cheer, Remember this: your voice must rise— A beacon burning through the skies. The days are long, the path unclear, Yet love is louder than the tear. No tired heart goes unheard or lost, Each sacrifice outweighs the cost. Speak truth in storms, in moments bleak, A stronger voice your child will seek. Your courage is their anchor deep, The promise held when nights won't sleep. So stand again, though worn and torn, Your love's a light that will not mourn. Pray loud, stand firm, when hope feels thin— You're fighting battles born within. In every word, in every deed, You plant the seeds your children need. Get louder with that truth today— And lead their hearts along the way. "Be present. Be incredible. 3852 Held By Your Breath
All of a sudden, the winds begin to shift. The wet and cold weather starts to settle in, signaling that the season is changing. With this change comes challenges—the unknown rises up, knocking on the door of your life. And there you sit, held by your breath. Life doesn't always make sense. You face what comes at you without invitation. You hold tight to what you desire, only to watch it slowly slip away. You ask yourself, "Now what? Where do I go from here?" The uncertainty can be paralyzing. Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at the Kairos FREE Online Community. https://createyournow.com But sometimes, the breakthrough isn't in rushing forward—it's in simply knowing that you're held by your breath. It's the pause, the stillness, the moment where everything feels like it's waiting on a prayer. In that moment, regardless of your circumstances, your presence matters. You are here. You are becoming. Even while you wait in the wings, God is working in unseen ways. The K.I.S.S. ~ Held by your breath! Psalm 46:10 says, "Be still, and know that I am God." It's in stillness—when you're held by your breath—that you recognize you are not alone. Your breath, your pause, your presence—these are not signs of weakness but the quiet strength that will prepare you for what's next. Make time to know who you are and who you are becoming during this fragile season. The waiting isn't wasted time. It's part of the process. God's got you. His timing is perfect, even when the winds shift and the weather turns cold. So breathe. Hold steady. Your next step is coming. Held By Your Breath by Kristianne Wargo The winds shift—quiet, insistent, a harbinger of change, cold and wet upon my skin, but deeper still, within. I sit—held by the breath between what was and what's to come, the fragile space where hope and fear wrestle, neither won. Desires slip like shadows, fading just beyond my reach, and the question haunts the silence— "Now what?" it dares beseech. But here, in stillness, I discover a truth both simple and profound: Though the road is lost in mist, my presence holds the ground. For in the quiet, I hear a whisper, steady, tender, sure— "Be still, and know I'm watching," a promise I can endure. So I breathe—deep, slow, unwavering— held by breath, held by grace, waiting not in vain but purpose, embracing this sacred space. "Be present. Be incredible. 3851 In Preparation for the Season
Life never really slows down, does it? No matter how much we want to hit pause or catch our breath, the demands just keep piling on. Saying "no" more than "yes" might buy us some space, but it won't stop the noise or the push of everything that needs our attention. And yet here you are, standing in the doorway of change, in preparation for the season. Maybe you're still hoping to nail that health goal you set at the start of the year. You're telling yourself there's still time to make it happen by year-end. Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at the Kairos FREE Online Community. https://createyournow.com But in this moment, you're also wondering: What's next? How do I get through tomorrow? When will the results come faster? And how do I get from where I am to where I want to be without losing myself in the process? Why do we tie healthy living to the seasons—the coming and going of time marked by holidays, events, and "big moments"? There's the pressure to show up with the perfect smile, the "right" outfit, relaxed eyes, and a body you're proud to reveal. It's exhausting and unfair. We chronically set ourselves up for failure before we even start by insisting, "This is my time." And then when the scale or the mirror doesn't reflect our hopes, it feels like nothing is working. Here's the hard truth nobody tells you: Healthy living is not a finish line marked by a number on the scale, a size on the hanger, or the portions of your meal. It's a journey that begins with confidence—the kind that lifts you up the moment you step into a room because you respect and love the person you are right now. Not who you'll be someday, but who you are today. So how do you move beyond the surface results? How do you find that kind of beauty—a deep, fierce glow that comes from the inside out? The K.I.S.S. ~ Grab your glow! Here are three actions you can take to get there: Make Healthy Living a Lifestyle, Not a Goal Forget the quick-fix mentality. Focus on daily habits that honor your body, mind, and spirit. Drink water, move in ways you enjoy, sleep enough, and give yourself permission to rest without guilt. Lifestyle over results means your worth isn't tied to how fast or how much you change. Live for Quality, Not Quantity Measure your days by moments that matter, not by calories or workouts logged. Savor meals, meaningful conversations, and time outdoors. Prioritize self-care practices that refill your energy rather than drain it. Quality living feeds your soul and sustains your well-being. Own Your Purpose, See Your Sparkle You are made for more, created on purpose for a purpose. Think of it as being crafted intentionally, designed for a calling beyond the scale or mirror. Recognize the unique light you carry—the resilience, kindness, and power that already make you beautiful. Let these strengths bloom into the woman you're becoming, one who radiates confidence whether she's dressing up or waking up on an ordinary day, because every day is extraordinary. In preparation for the season, reclaim what healthy living really means. Not the fleeting image you chase, but the real, strong, vibrant YOU that no season can dim. Own your journey. Love yourself. Love who you are now and who you are becoming. And the rest will follow. "Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!" #WellnessWednesday #CreateYourNow #HealthAndWellness 💍 The Christmas Ring by Karen Kingsbury: (https://karenkingsbury.com) 🔔 Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? 3850 One More Yes
In life, we can sometimes have the idea that saying yes to everything is the way to live. But then, when life happens and you're in a season of more chaos than calm, no becomes the easier way out. Yet, what happens when you get that call; the one that connects with who you are and who you are becoming--your purpose and passion with your presence. Will it be one more yes? No one has magical moments, except for the immediate seconds when the magic happens. Every time something extraordinary occurs, it all starts from the ordinary. Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at the Kairos FREE Online Community. https://createyournow.com The ordinary schedule you held for yourself. The ordinary practice that proved the progress over and over. The ordinary daily regimen to keep you healthy and in check. The ordinary devotion to you growing into what's next. You don't stumble onto who you're meant to be—you choose it. And every choice is a fork in the road, an invitation to add one more yes or fall back into comfort zones. Think back for a moment. Remember a time when an opportunity knocked so close you could almost reach out and clasp it. But instead of stepping forward, you ducked. You took the well-worn path many take when the climb looks too steep, too risky, too much work. Now imagine if you'd said yes. Just one more yes. The K.I.S.S. ~ Just one more yes! How different would your story be today? Don't let that question spiral into regret. It's not a "shoulda, coulda, woulda" trap. It's a spark meant to light your future steps, not chain you to past stumbles. Because sometimes, one more yes is exactly what the moment demands. Remember Episode 3849 Just By Chance and the Shanghai Masters story? Two cousins, both tennis players, meet on the court for the final. And only a few days before the Masters started, Valentin Vacherot got a phone call saying he qualified and asking if they could expect him. So his thoughts were, "Let's give it a chance and see what happens." On Sunday, he won his first ATP title at the Shanghai Masters, defeating his cousin, Arthur Rinderknech. This was a historic win, moving his ranking from 204th to 40th. That's the power of one more yes. So what's your Shanghai Masters? What's the call you're hesitating to return? Maybe you're more like Jake Moody with the Chicago Bears, who was released after the first week by the San Francisco 49ers. He was added to the practice squad and then put on the roster the afternoon of Monday Night Football (MNF). Moody won the game with the final kick at about 38 yards, giving the Chicago Bears the win 25-24 against the Washington Commanders. What opportunity, passion, or challenge might be waiting for your yes? This is your nudge. Don't leave it behind until the doors are closed. Explore. Do what you need to do with one more yes. 3849 Just By Chance
Think back to the time when your dreams took center stage; it's all you could do not to chase them. But then life happens, and you begin doing all the things, only to realize that life isn't made up of all your dreams, yet you're still weaving in and out of those you care for. It's quite messy. But then, you find yourself accomplishing the one thing—just by chance. Or is it just by chance? Every day, you're deciding. You use what you know, what you've experienced, and what you're willing to risk to move forward or hold back. Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at the Kairos FREE Online Community. https://createyournow.com Every choice alters your path—sometimes subtly, sometimes dramatically. Your dreams don't just come in a neat package handed to you with a pretty little bow. They arrive through the twists and turns of decisions you make, overlaid with new beginnings and old endings. And in those moments, your dream resurfaces, asking, Is now the moment? Is success just by chance? Or by choice? You can't control everything life throws at you. But what you can control is how you show up, how you feel in your days, and how you respond to each challenge or opportunity. That's not just by chance. That's by choice. The K.I.S.S. ~ Choose wisely! Your choices create your daily journey. And that journey can be one with joy, even when hard choices need to be made. Or it can become a time of fear where no choices are made. Regardless of where you are, choose wisely! 3 Ways to Choose Wisely While Going After What Your Heart Desires Slow Down to Reflect Before You React When an opportunity knocks or a problem arises, your gut might urge you to leap or shut down. Instead, build the habit of pausing. For example, say you're offered a new project that promises growth but demands a huge time commitment. Don't say "yes" immediately. Take a moment to reflect on how it aligns with your bigger goals. Does it move you closer to your dream? Or just distract you? This pause creates space to choose with intention, not impulse. Set Boundaries That Protect Your Priorities Your dream isn't going to live in the nooks and crannies of your day. It needs space—mental and physical. Consider a single parent working a full-time job who dreams of launching a business or going back to school. Saying "no" to extra shifts or social invitations lets her guard that sacred time to write and plan. Protect your time like currency. What you say "no" to determines what you say "yes" to. Seek Out Mentors or Trusted Voices Choosing wisely doesn't mean going it alone. For instance, an aspiring artist might struggle between accepting commercial gigs fast or waiting for gallery representation. A mentor who has navigated that path can offer clarity grounded in experience. Mentors challenge your blind spots and inspire courageous, informed decisions. Don't just listen to anyone—choose who reflects the kind of success you want. Nothing ever unfolds solely by chance. 3848 Bring Your Junk to Jesus
Some days, life feels like a relentless storm—nothing goes right, nothing is under your control, and despair feels heavy on your chest. On those days, the hardest thing to do is to let go of the chaos swirling inside. But here's your lifeline: bring your junk to Jesus. When you have those days where everything is out of your control and nothing seems to be going your way, bring your junk to Jesus. When you feel defeated and in despair, bring your junk to Jesus. When you are struggling in your situation, bring your junk to Jesus. Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at the Kairos FREE Online Community. https://createyournow.com This isn't about pretending things are fine or putting on a brave face. It's about honesty with the One who already knows every piece of your mess and still loves you unconditionally. No one promised this life would be easy. Pain, hardship, confusion—they are part of the journey. But what is promised is something far greater: eternal life and a peace that surpasses all understanding. Choosing to let your circumstances dictate your mood or your faith is dangerous territory. Instead, choose what 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 commands: "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." Notice the power in those words. The charge to rejoice always does not ignore pain. It acknowledges pain and insists that joy is available beyond it. To pray continually means you keep an open line to God through every triumph and trial. Giving thanks in all circumstances isn't naivety; it's recognizing the hand of God even when your eyes can't yet see it. The K.I.S.S. ~ Bring your junk to Jesus! There is no part of your life that Jesus wants you to hide or carry alone. We are often the ones who try to fit God into neat little boxes—limiting His power, His comfort, His presence to only the "good" parts of our lives. But God refuses to be boxed in. He is big enough for your mess, your confusion, your anger, and your brokenness. So why keep Him on the sidelines? When your world is crumbling, look for the blessings hidden in the rubble as you bring your junk to Jesus. Maybe it's a lesson, maybe it's hope, maybe it's a hand reaching out in unexpected ways. That's the relationship God wants with you—not a surface-level connection but raw, real, and authentic. You can't build that kind of relationship by only sharing your wins. Let your walls down. Give Him your junk—the doubts, the pain, the fears you can't put into words. There's nothing God doesn't already know. Stop pretending. Bring your junk to Jesus, and watch how He turns it into peace and purpose. Lay it all down at the foot of the cross. Let Jesus carry what you simply can't handle. Then, if even just a little, start to rejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances. That's not just advice; that's God's will for your life (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). The junk isn't too much. You're not too broken. Jesus is enough. So bring your junk to Jesus—right now. Bring Your Junk to Jesus by Kristianne Wargo When shadows press and hope feels thin, When losing feels like where you begin, Don't bury pain or wear disguise— Bring your junk to Jesus' eyes. No need for masks, no need to hide, He knows the storms you're trapped inside. He's not confined by earthly rules, No boxed-in love, no guarded tools. The broken pieces, heavy loads, The tangled paths and weary roads, Lay them down at mercy's throne— He'll turn your junk to healing stone. Rejoice in dawn though night is long, Pray your grief in steady song, Give thanks through tears, through doubt, through pain— For grace and hope will rise again. Bring the mess, the ache, the fear, Jesus listens—always near. No junk too ugly, no shame too deep— In His arms, your soul will keep. So when the world feels off and cold, When you're weary, worn, and sold, Bring your junk to Jesus' feet— There lies peace you can't defeat. "Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!" #SweetSpirit #CreateYourNow #SoulfulSunday 🔔 Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? 3847 The Apology Trap
In marriage, saying "I'm sorry" can feel natural and even healing in the moment. It often seems like the right thing to say—a quick fix to tension, a peace offering, a balm for hurt feelings. But have you ever noticed that sometimes, your apologies don't land with the weight or meaning you expect? Sometimes "sorry" becomes filler—something said to smooth over a disagreement without real change or understanding. Welcome to the apology trap. The apology trap is when you slip into the habit of saying you're sorry out of routine or pressure rather than genuine remorse. Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at the Kairos FREE Online Community. https://createyournow.com When that happens, "sorry" loses its meaning and power. It no longer builds connections; instead, it creates invisible walls. But these invisible walls can become your indestructible brick walls. Your words might even breed resentment—because on the receiving end, they sound empty or scripted. Your apologies need to do the opposite. They should build bridges, not burn them. They should create space where healing, trust, and intimacy can grow deeper, not fester into more confusion or frustration. So how do you make your "sorry" carry the impact it should? The K.I.S.S. ~ Build a bridge! Here are three ways a spouse can build a bridge so that "sorry" truly counts: 1. Own Your Impact, Not Just Your Intent It's tempting to justify our actions or highlight how we didn't mean to hurt our partner. But "I'm sorry" isn't about your intentions. It's about acknowledging the effect your words or behavior had on your spouse. Owning impact means saying, "I see how what I did hurt you," not "I didn't mean to do that." This subtle but crucial shift shows you're tuned in to their experience and validates their feelings—which is the foundation for real, authentic connection. 2. Show the Willingness to Change An apology that stops at words feels and sounds empty. If you truly want to build a bridge, your "sorry" must be backed by a sincere commitment to do better. This means following up with behavior that proves the apology wasn't just a band-aid, but a step toward fixing the problem. Maybe it's agreeing on new boundaries, improving communication, or getting help when needed. Words alone won't heal; actions do. 3. Give Your Apology Room and Time Sometimes, the urge to say "I'm sorry" quickly is to end conflict right away. But effective apologies allow for space. Your spouse might need time to process their feelings before they can accept your apology. Rushing the fix risks diluting it. Instead, say your "sorry" clearly, then lean into patience as the other person works through it. Respecting this emotional pace builds trust and shows respect for their experience. Getting trapped in hollow apologies is tempting and easy. But your marriage deserves better. Your "sorry" should never be a reflex word tossed around to smooth over without thought. In other words, don't make your "sorry" a burp; it should be a bridge—solid, sincere, and built to last. If you want your apologies to resonate and repair, own the impact, demonstrate your commitment through change, and give your partner the time they need. That's how "sorry" becomes more than a word—it becomes a pathway to healing and deeper connection, strengthening your marriage. "Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!" #RelationshipBuilders #CreateYourNow #LoveAndMarriage 🔔 Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? 3846 Make What Is Old New Again
Parenting in today's world feels like a nonstop race to keep pace with the latest toys, gadgets, and trends. Every week, there's something new promising to be the must-have for your kids—a whoosh of digital this, a flashy that, flashing lights and beeping sounds filling every room. But you don't need to buy into the buzz— More stuff won't make family life smoother or your kids happier. In fact, chasing every new fad can complicate life and even harm your children's growth and relationships. So, make what is old new again. The endless competition to have the newest whatever sets kids against each other in ways that stunt their development. When children constantly compare what they have with what their friends have, jealousy creeps in. Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at the Kairos FREE Online Community. https://createyournow.com That jealousy breeds resentment and can fracture friendships and sibling bonds. Instead of focusing on learning, playing, or growing, kids get trapped in "who has more" or "who's cooler" contests. This distracts them from curiosity, collaboration, and creativity—skills they desperately need. Take sports for example. If your child is so caught up in beating others at every score or owning the trendiest sports gear, they risk losing the joy of the game and why it matters: improving themselves. Or think about academics. Competition based on grades alone can crush a child's willingness to learn for the sake of understanding. And socially? Kids might exclude peers who don't have the latest tech or toys, reinforcing harmful divisions based on material things. But what if there was another way? What if parents flipped the script and made what is old new again? Instead of adding more "stuff" to the mix, why not use what you already have—reignite the magic in classic toys, games, and simple activities? The K.I.S.S. ~ Reignite the magic! Here are three ways parents can do exactly that: Reimagine Classic Play Pull out those board games tucked away in the closet. Dust off puzzles or bring out building blocks and Legos. Challenge your kids to create stories or build worlds from scratch with what's on hand instead of relying on apps and screens. Turn an old cardboard box into a spaceship or fort. When kids reengage with these timeless toys, they're using creativity and problem-solving muscles that no screen can replace. Create Tech-Free Family Traditions Reintroduction of simple rituals like family game night, backyard camping, or cooking recipes handed down through generations makes old experiences fresh and meaningful. These traditions encourage togetherness, conversation, and laughter. They give kids a break from comparison culture, reducing anxiety and distracting conflicts. Involve Kids in Upcycling and DIY Projects Instead of buying new, get crafty with your kids. Turn old T-shirts into tote bags, repaint furniture, or even make your own simple toys. This teaches resourcefulness and pride in making something valuable from what most would toss aside. More importantly, it shifts the focus from consumption to creation. When parents stop chasing the latest trends and start rekindling interest in what's already around, kids learn there is immense value in imagination, relationships, and resourcefulness. Making what is old new again is not about limiting your child; it's about giving them the tools they truly need to grow—tools that don't require an upgrade every season. There is hope here. Being creative and intentional with what your kids have—and what they actually need—makes space for real growth through every stage of childhood. So next time you feel the pull to buy the latest toy or gadget, pause. Ask yourself: What can we rediscover together? The answer might be sitting right under your nose, waiting to be the new old favorite. You've got this. Let's make what is old new again. "Be present. Be incredible.
