Build Your Business through PR with Gloria Chou | Ep. 196
Today I'm excited to welcome our guest Gloria Chou to the show. We get to talk about getting started with PR, how to reach out and get noticed, and we'll dive into personal branding as well. Gloria Chou is a US diplomat turned PR guru who helps early-stage thought leaders get recognized by earning them press placements. Her mission is to make PR more accessible so that everybody can learn how to gain traction and build credibility for their businesses without hiring an agency to do all of that pitching for them. HIGHLIGHTS: Find out why PR is important for your personal brand Discover the best method for cold calls or emails Learn why follow-up is so critical for success QUOTES: "In the saturated market, we need more than just eyeballs." "I think for us as consumers, we're more discerning than ever. We don't just buy something because of its value proposition. We want to know about the founder's story. We want to know if we're aligned in our mission and values." "Throughout years of cold calling and cold emailing, I started to pick up on patterns on when the pitch would be actually opened or actually responded to." While it seems intuitive, it can also feel overwhelming. Where I see a lot of people struggle is they just don't get started." "If you tell yourself or other people that you're going to do a thing, and then you don't do it, you begin to build distrust with yourself, like your word doesn't mean anything to you." The Future of Time Management with Joe Sanok | Ep. 194
Today I have a captivating discussion with Joe Sanok about a new time management philosophy. Joe just released a new book in October called "Thursday Is The New Friday", which examines a four-day workweek and its benefits. His podcast is one of the top 50 podcasts worldwide. He's been featured in Forbes, Good magazine, and Smart Passive Income podcast. Joe also hosts the Practice Of The Practice Podcast. HIGHLIGHTS: Understand why the 40-hour workweek was important at the time Learn how Joe used the 4-day work week for his own time management Be inspired to evolve beyond the status quo! QUOTES: "We have an opening right now for a handful of years to say, 'How do we want to reinvent society? How do we help ourselves to be the most creative, the most productive to address these future challenges?'" "The average person thinks that the more they work, the more they're going to get done. Unfortunately, the research just doesn't support that. There's a diminishing return at a certain point." "Why would we spend that extra time at work instead of investing in our communities, investing in our children, doing fun things, and having a higher economic return for all of that?" Build Your Coaching Reputation with Lindsay Dotzlaf | Ep. 193
Today I'm excited to talk to Lindsay Doztlaf about how to build a coaching reputation. She is the owner and founder of the Coaching Masters mastermind, the host of the podcast, Mastering Coaching, which is how I found her, and she is a coach of coaches. Lindsay is here to discuss everything from how she built her personal brand, how she thinks about getting out there, and how she found her first few clients, as well as her thoughts on building your reputation, identity, and your message. HIGHLIGHTS: Why Lindsay thinks relationships are critical for reputation How she finds places to network What pitfalls to avoid when starting your coaching business QUOTES: "It's like the very first step for me was identifying as a life coach and just being able to tell people that that's what I did." "I didn't look specifically for entrepreneur groups or marketing groups, things like that. I was just going to meet other business people to talk about my business." "What I teach is, "But don't forget to also be a really good coach" because that helps with all of it. If you know, "My clients get results. I am really good at what I do," it's going to affect everything. The 3 Mistakes to Avoid for Podcast Growth | Ep. 192
This week, we're talking about the three mistakes to avoid when growing your podcast. I have taken a look at what the best brands in the world do when creating content, what YouTubers are doing when they are growing their shows, what Bloggers are doing when they are growing their blogs, and all content creators out there. These are lessons that they've been implementing in their businesses and in their content that podcasters could learn from now. HIGHLIGHTS: Learn how using the wrong words is keeping you from getting discovered. Understand why planned content ideas are better than random content. Hear why focusing on just one channel is holding you back. QUOTES: "This all works together as an ecosystem. The podcast is not your one marketing channel, it is your creation hub." "You have to find your niche in terms of keywords and try to show up in the search for those things." How to Get Your Podcast Discovered | Ep. 191
This week we're talking about getting your podcast discovered. I know most of us want a bigger audience. We are creating this great content and we are hoping the right people can find it. The way I see it, podcasters are artists. Unfortunately, getting discovered as a podcaster is not easy, just like musicians, artists, and actors. A lot of artists have realized that if they truly want to make it in this business, they've got to create that path themselves. I'd give you that same advice as a podcaster. HIGHLIGHTS: - Discover specific ways others have created their path - Find out what skills you need to develop - Know that you can succeed and be discovered QUOTES: "The way I see it, podcasters (like a lot of other people that are out there building something from scratch) are artists." "As an artist, you can't just be a creator. You also have to be someone who studies media, who studies marketing, and who studies branding." "Not everyone blew up overnight in either of these spaces. A lot of them had to keep on putting in the time and trying different things, getting better and better, and building an audience over time." "If you're a personal brand, what's different from you and a business is that you are the brand and you need to be the face of it."
