Ep: 181 – Lions Look To The Chicago Bears – The Detroit Lions Podcast
In this episode of The Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris and Case get together to talk about the Lions loss to the Minnesota Vikings, the new Friday show with the Riz, Jim Bob Cooter, Teez Tabor, Golden Tate, Matthew Stafford, the media and a whole lot more.
This week, we set “Put ’em on Blast” aside and go right into the loss to the Minnesota Vikings. This one really took the wind out of the sails of a lot of Detroit Lions fans, but we’re here to help put things into perspective without pouring Kool-Aid that is too sweet. Chris does something he tends not to do and has an “I told you so” moment when he discusses Teez Tabor’s game. The boys break down that breakdown and also talk about Matthew Stafford and what the hell happened there. Can’t talk about that without bringing up Kelly Stafford’s Instagram interactions. On this topic, Chris finds a little nugget that no one else is talking about…
Detroit Lions Podcast Welcomes Zach Zenner Back
A Detroit Lions Podcast favorite, Zach Zenner, is back! We discuss his role now that Ameer Abdullah is gone. We also chat about the signing of Bruce Ellington and what he brings to the team.
From there we go into the Detroit Lions firing of special teams coach Joe Marciano. We breakdown why it happened and what it means for the Lions in a broader sense.
It feels like it’s time again to address the terrible state of the sports media in the city of Detroit. Chris and Case call it like they see it and take many of the members of the media to task. Of course, we also talk about one beat writer who does an excellent job.
From there the boys of the Detroit Lions Podcast go into the upcoming game against Chicago. We try to help predict what you might see and what to expect. This is a critical game for our Lions, no doubt.

Ep: 180 – Detroit Lions & Minnesota Vikings Postgame Show – The Detroit Lions Podcast
In this live episode of The Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris is joined by Sandman and Mike the Ambling Bastard to conduct a live postgame therapy session for Lions fans after the Detroit Lions lost to the Minnesota Vikings today. It was a tough game that has a number of implications. Also, the boys discuss what it means and take your calls.
This was a game that the Lions needed to win. Their division record is going to be pivotal in their run to make the playoffs this year. This loss makes their path to the playoffs very narrow, and Chris, Sandman, and Mike discuss what that path might look like. Rest assured, it includes winning out against their divisional opponents for the rest of the season.
Detroit Lions Podcast Discusses Lions Offensive Struggles
We also spend some time discussing Jim Bob Cooter and his future with the team. His time here has not been marked by massive success and we describe what keeping him and canning him might look like. There are a number of issues involved with replacing an offensive coordinator, and we highlight the most important ones.
Also, we take your calls and conduct our standard post-game therapy session to help you cope with the upcoming work week and bitter taste that comes from a loss like this. Definitely a needed prescription.
A hearty thank you to everyone who took the time to join us for the live post game version of the Detroit Lions Podcast!

Ep: 179 – Quick Takes: Off to Minnesota – The Detroit Lions Podcast
This week we start a new show on the Detroit Lions Podcast that we plan on bringing to you every Friday. Jeff Risdon and Chris will be reviewing the big stories of the week and previewing the upcoming game.
This week we talk about the Golden Tate trade and what it means to the Lions. We discuss how they may adjust and which players are going to need to step up. There’s a lot of angles to this, and Jeff doesn’t leave you wanting – he never does.
The Detroit Lions Podcast With A Full Court Press
The room formerly known as the “Dungeon of Doom” makes news again. This time Matt Patricia has to correct one of the beat writers’ posture. Very disrespectful. Actually, we discuss the situation and break things out much further than that individual story.
From there we discuss the news about A’Shawn Robinson and his tirade in the locker room today. The info came from one of our favorite writers, Justin Rogers, and we think about some of the implications.
Lastly, we take a look ahead to the game against the Vikings and tell you what to look for and how the Lions could win, and what might cause them to lose.
This is a great opening episode if I say so myself (I do).

Ep: 178 – Lions Look To The Vikings – The Detroit Lions Podcast
In this episode of The Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris and Case get together to talk about the Lions loss to the Seattle Seahawks, a new show that’s kicking off, Kerryon Johnson, Jim Bob Cooter, and of course, Golden Tate.
This week, we start with some good “Put ’em on Blast” calls from a few of our listeners. Good content and a few hot takes in there that we discuss during the show. From there we go back and look at what we saw in the game against Seattle. Case doesn’t think the team played as bad as many do, while Chris tries to help people understand that the fact that the other teams in the division doing so poorly this week means the Lions squandered a real opportunity. It was a week in which we didn’t capitalize in a division that no one seems to be able to own as their own.
The Detroit Lions Podcast Talks Golden Tate
The boys then break into the Golden Tate trade situation. There are a lot of opinions here and there are a number of ways to analyze it. Chris decides that it comes down to a situation where you can fall on either side of the conversation depending on if you are thinking with your heart or your logical mind. Case makes a number of great points (as he is known to do), in the end the team moves onward and hopefully forward.
From there the Detroit Lions Podcast goes into Jim Bob Cooter – we take a look at his performance, what it means for his future with the team, and we give him a grade. No need to hide behind rhetoric – we etch our opinions in stone and discuss Jim bob’s future with the team.
We also spend some time talking about Kerryon Johnson and one of his key strengths over the Lions committee of backs, including LeGarrette Blount.
From there we go “Around The Division” and let you know what’s happening in the NFC North and what it means to the Lions.

Ep: 176 – Detroit Lions & Miami Dolphins Postgame Show – The Detroit Lions Podcast
In this live episode of The Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris is joined by Sandman and Punk Rockin’ Trev to conduct a live postgame celebratory session for Lions fans after our boys beat the Miami Dolphins today. It was a great game with a bunch of takeaways to talk about.
Detroit Lions Podcast Breaks It Down
After 6 weeks of football, the Lions have recovered from their abysmal start and have come around to be right in the thick of the race for the lead of the NFC North. There’s still a lot of football to be played, but the Detroit Lions trajectory is definitely heading upward, their divisional record, and their record against common opponents is very strong. This team is quietly setting themselves up for a late season run at the divisional title and who knows what else beyond that.
The team played extremely well in all phases of the game. They were able to overcome a few shoddy calls that may have derailed them historically and show the world that they “have the right stuff” to beat good football teams. Matthew Stafford, Kerryon Johnson, Jim Bob Cooter, and Matt Patricia are all trending in the right direction for this team according to the Detroit Lions Podcast.
In the end, the scoreboard would tell you the game was closer than it really was, but there were another 8 points that very easily should have been up there had the zebras been a little more consistent in their calls. Nevertheless a win over the Miami Dolphins (who took out the Chicago Bears last week) is a good strong win in the Lions record book.
A hearty thank you to everyone who took the time to join us for the live post game version of the Detroit Lions Podcast!

Ep: 175 – Lions Look To The Dolphins – The Detroit Lions Podcast
The Detroit Lions Podcast Returns
In this episode of The Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris and Case close out the Lions bye week and look ahead to the game against the Miami Dolphins.
This week, we give “Put ’em on Blast” a bye week, but open up with a hilarious opening line for a new segment called, “This Week In Unnecessary Censorship”. Derived from the Jimmy Kimmel bit, our first foray into the realm is an instant classic.
From there we share our frustration with the appropriation of organic culture by rent seekers who tend to ruin everything. Yes, the Turkey Hole makes another appearance.
With the bye week shenanigans out of the way the Detroit Lions Podcast breaks into more direct Lions news. We discuss the offensive line and the great job they are doing and follow that up with a discussion about Jamal Agnew’s injury and who we would like to see stand in his place (Hint: Ameer Abdullah and Brandon Powell make an appearance).
From there we do an in-depth “Around The Division” segment in which we analyze the Packers situation and how they found official help yet again. Also, things aren’t looking great for Aaron Rodgers. Chris and Case disagree on the Vikings trajectory. The Detroit Lions Podcast crew end with a “we’ll see” stalemate. We also use the Chicago Bears’ debacle in Miami to discuss what to look for when the Lions visit. The Bears seem like the biggest load of fool’s gold yet…

Ep: 174 – Lions Rockin’ Into The Bye week – The Detroit Lions Podcast
In this episode of The Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris and Case are joined by Jeff (The Riz) Risdon to break down this week in Detroit Lions news. Coming off a big win over the Green Bay Packers and heading into the Bye week at just the right time shows that things are finally starting to align in the Lions’ favor.
We start the show with more listener calls, not nearly as much heat as in the past, but good stuff from our listeners nonetheless. These calls give voice to Lions fans, and we will continue to allow our listeners to put *anyone* on blast every week. You call (929) 33-Lions, we’ll put it on the air. Go ahead and vent, it’s the only way to clear the air.
The Lions Beat The Green Bay Packers
From there we go into game review mode. Any time the Detroit Lions prevail over the Green Bay Packers (FTP) is a great time and this one was no different. We talk about whether this was a Lions win, a Packers loss, a little of both, and whether or not that conversation really even matters. No matter your thoughts on this, it was a great win.
From there we talk about the Lions sack numbers and the pressure generated by the front seven. Do coverage sacks count as sacks? Should they? How should we think about this Detroit Lions Defense? The Detroit Lions Podcast will talk about all that and peer into the Lions’ future to see how things are lining up for Free Agency and the Draft and how that might help this team. Make sure to take the names of those who say that Bob Quinn can’t draft – it will be fun to rub their noses in it in the future.
Kenny Golladay. Does he need a nickname? Why are people trying so hard to put a label on him? These things need to happen organically. Case just about loses his shit when we work through some of the nickname suggestions that have popped up recently. In the end, Chris likes to think he’s got the best names so far. Make sure to listen closely to the show – the names “Smash” or “Punch” are likely the best that have popped up so far. Its related to Haha Clinton-Dix comments about Golladay after last week’s game.
We also discuss Ziggy’s injury situation, and Case takes us ‘Around The Division’.
Dean Blandino Joins The Detroit Lions Podcast
After all that, longtime friend of the Detroit Lions Podcast, Dean Blandino joins the boys for a heck of a chat. We cover a lot of really good content about the rules, calls that have been made, bad calls that have affected the Lions, and fan the flames of a new Twitter beef between Dean and former NFL official and Rules Analyst for NBC, Terry McAulay. We expect a total blood feud here. Fox vs. NBC – Game On!

Ep: 173 – Lions Look To The Packers – The Detroit Lions Podcast
In this episode of The Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris is joined by Jeff “The Riz” Risdon for a look at the 1-3 Lions, their performance against the Dallas Cowboys, a breakdown of the game, and a look ahead at their next match-up against the Green Bay Packers.
We start the Detroit Lions Podcast with calls from our listeners again, this time they put the team and the officials “On Blast”. There isn’t a whole lot to argue with in here, Lions fans again have some difficult pills to swallow. These calls give voice to Lions fans, and we will continue to allow our listeners to put *anyone* on blast every week. You call (929) 33-Lions, we’ll put it on the air. Go ahead and vent, it’s the only way to clear the air.
The Detroit Lions Podcast Looks Back
From there we go into game review mode. We dissect the Lions and Cowboys game and discuss what went wrong, and why. While it was a loss, we played the Cowboys to within two points on their home field. It was a game we could (and should) have won, but let slip through our hands.
We also talk about the development of a few players. Specifically, Kenny Golladay and Jarrad Davis. There’s a lot to feel good about here. While Davis has some issues, he’s shown a great deal of growth just since training camp, much less year over year. We predict where his ceiling might be before we get giddy about Kenny Golladay. The Riz laments our lack of usage of Kenny in the red zone – and yet again, he’s right.
After that, the Detroit Lions Podcast looks ahead to the upcoming game against the Green Bay Packers. We discuss the Lions current injury situation and what it will take for the Lions to beat the Pack.

Ep: 172 – Lions & Cowboys Postgame Show – The Detroit Lions Podcast
In this live episode of The Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris is joined by Mike ‘The Ambling Bastard’ to conduct a live postgame therapy session for Lions fans frustrated by the loss that the Detroit Lions suffered at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys today.
Coming off of their big win against the Patriots, hopes were high for a big win this week. Unfortunately the Cowboys, Lions, and the officials did their best to ensure the even Matthew Stafford and his late-game heroics wouldn’t be enough.
Detroit Lions Podcast Postgame Breakdown
Highlights of the game include Matthew Stafford’s play, Golden Tate, and Kenny Golladay. Low point were the performances by Jamal Agnew, and the Lions run defense. I’ll have to add that there was some highly questionable officiating on the field today – something Lions fans have become all too accustomed to.
In the end, it was a close game that had the Lions in the lead until a last second kick put the Cowboys over the Lions by two points. Heartbreaking, yet still a winnable game.
A hearty thank you to everyone who took the time to join us for the live post game version of the Detroit Lions Podcast!

Ep: 171 – Lions Look To The Cowboys – The Detroit Lions Podcast
In this episode of The Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris and Case break down this week in Detroit Lions news. Game three saw a shocking turn around for the franchise and turned the pessimism surrounding the team on its head. We discuss the whether or not this was a fluke or a sign of things to come. Jeff Risdon of course joins us for his insight as well.
We start the Detroit Lions Podcast with more listener calls, this time in response to the Pats game. “Put ’em on Blast” had a record number of call ins, which we hope continues. These calls give voice to Lions fans, and we will continue to allow our listeners to put *anyone* on blast every week. You call (929) 33-Lions, we’ll put it on the air. Go ahead and vent, it’s the only way to clear the air.
The Detroit Lions Podcast Breaks Down The New England Patriots
From there we go into game review mode. Looking at how the win against the New England Patriots exceeded expectations. It wasn’t perfect, but it was damned near close, and we break down everything that went right for the team.
Credit goes out to guys like Theo Riddick, who has not always gotten the benefit of the doubt from us, and Kerryon Johnson. Big credit to Darius Slay, Quandre Diggs, and the rest of the secondary, who truly were the stars of the game as well. More praise is also due to Matt Patricia for a well called and well-played game.
A specific emphasis is put on the rest of the season and expectations for the team. We look at continued injury issues for upcoming opponents, both in the NFC North and league-wide.
On that topic, the Dallas Cowboys poor performance against the Seattle Seahawks is discussed. We also consider the effect of the loss of starting LB Lee as the team goes on the road to Dallas next week.
After all that, it’s time for Riz’s wisdom with Jeff Risdon on the Detroit Lions Podcast. He talks Lions offensive line, the reputation of the team around the league, and what the game against Dallas holds.
