The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 390 – Lessons From The Vault: Overwhelm & Bright Shiny Object Syndrome

https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_390-Lessons_From_The_Vault-Overwhelm_Bright_Shiny_Object_Syndrome.mp3 In order to bring wealth into our life, we need to focus on the end result. It’s often said that if we focus on something, we’ll either attract it to us—or we’ll manifest an opportunity to get it. While that’s true, we also need to have a “vehicle” (such as a business) through which to bring in wealth. Without some kind of vehicle in place, wealth can’t come in.  In today’s episode you’ll learn:   Why you can’t count on random money to consistently show up “out of the blue” You have to have a vehicle (e.g., a business) in order to create wealth—and you have to be entirely focused on growing that vehicle Why the feeling of overwhelm shows up, and what it’s an indication of How to prioritize what needs to be done and remove the drama and emotion from whatever you’re dealing with Why a so-called “easier path” is often bright, shiny object syndrome in disguise—and a distraction that creates more problems One question to ask yourself whenever you’re getting distracted    To reach a specific end result, you need to move forward within the “vehicle” you’ve chosen to grow. Bright, shiny object syndrome attacks you where you’re weak. It’s often your subconscious mind trying to get you to go a different way, when you already have a sound plan in place. The distraction protects you, so that you don’t have to grow. It promises to be easier—when really, you’ll be headed for disaster if you go in a different direction. All it means is, it’s showing you where you need to grow in your current place.   Links & Resources The Successful Mind Podcast on YouTube – Episode 390 – Lessons From the Vault:  Overwhelm & Bright Shiny Object Syndrome More from the VAULT by David Neagle and The Successful Mind Podcast: Episode 369 – Lessons From The Vault: Developing Self Confidence & Self Control Episode 373 – Lessons From The Vault: You Don’t Want It Bad Enough Episode 288 – Lessons From The Vault: Gratitude for What Is and Lessons Learned If you enjoy the show, would you please consider leaving a short review on Apple Podcasts? The Successful Mind Podcast – Inside Episode 389 – We Live In Truth

https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/Inside_Episode_389-We_Live_In_Truth.mp3 Growth is a moving target that we never fully reach, and this makes a lot of people uncomfortable. Most people would rather avoid growth than go through it. Change and growth are threatening for many people. But if we’re not growing, we’re dying.  If you want to set yourself free (from an awareness perspective) in this lifetime… then you have to WANT to change, and you have to WANT to know the truth. We need to face the truth of why we’re here, and what we were created to be. Today BT and I are going deeper into what it means to “live in truth.” We discuss:   How I discovered the work of Sterling Sill (he wrote the book, The Laws of Success and comes from the LDS community) Thurman Fleet’s background as a chiropractor (he was involved in the healing arts and taught his students about how the mind works) Fleet’s philosophy on how higher consciousness can heal the body, and how we can stay in the right vibration Why you should “test” all information for yourself to see if it’s accurate (and this strengthens your belief in it) Why it takes so long to get out of negative programming and replace it with accurate thinking How to strengthen your focus—and not be distracted by outside influences or be reactive to circumstances that pop up   Plus, I share a story I’ve never shared before about an old friend whose wife was threatened by the possibility of him changing his life for the better. The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 389 – We Live In Truth

https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_389-TEM90A_MDM_10-03-20-We_Live_In_Truth.mp3 We all have a spiritual energy that’s moving to and through us—and it becomes an exact replica of our outside world. Whatever is going on inside of us, is also what we see outside of us—whether we’re conscious of it or not. Just like a computer can only do what it’s been programmed to do—your mind operates based on however it was programmed to operate. That’s why we must pay close attention to what we’re feeding our minds,, what we’re “ingesting” on a regular basis, and what we’re being programmed by. Today I’m teaching on the idea of “living in truth.” I’m drawing upon the wisdom of Sterling Sill and Thurman Fleet (from manuscripts that are unavailable to the general public). You’ll learn:   Our eyes see whatever our perception tells our eyes to see We’re constantly being inundated with a verification of whatever we’re programmed to believe How the mind becomes susceptible to the ridiculous  What it means to create a “split of consciousness”—separating your mind’s reactions from universal consciousness, Christ consciousness, Krishna consciousness, etc. How many people are “molding themselves into a deformity and shifting away from the divine” by focusing on criticism and hate We model our mind into whatever we’re focusing on (even if it’s the crazy political situation) Our judgment about what we’re observing unconsciously carries over into our business   Plus I’ll share some gems and quotes that can help you deepen your understanding of the truth…like Fleet’s idea that “When one acts as though he wants to be a nobody, nature assumes he is in earnest and grants his wish.” Or Confucius’s line, “Jest not over holy matters.” Or what it means to “Love your enemies” (as Christ said). The truth is… if you want to change your opportunities and results, you must first change how you SEE things—so you can make different choices, to create the life you want. The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 388 – The Common Denominator of Success

https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_388-TEM90A_MDM_7-26-20-Part_II-Common_Denominator_of_Success.mp3 In 1940, Albert E.N. Gray gave an incredible speech to life insurance salesmen at the National Association of Life Underwriters (NALU), in which he spoke on “the common denominator of success.” The common denominator of success is a belief that eliminates chaos, brings order, guides you on what to do, and shows you what to focus on.  In today’s episode, I’m reading Gray’s speech and highlighting some of his biggest gems…which include:   The secret of success isn’t hard work alone—many people work hard without ever succeeding, and many people succeed without working hard Successful people are influenced by the desire for “pleasing results”—while failures are influenced by the desire for “pleasing methods”  Successful people form the habit of doing things that failures don’t like to do Success is “unnatural” and isn’t achieved by following our natural likes and dislikes—nor by being guided by our natural preferences and prejudices Supporting your family isn’t a sufficiently strong purpose to make you form the habit of doing things you don’t like to do—because it’s easier to adjust ourselves to the hardships of poor living than it is to adjust ourselves to the hardships to make a better one   Gray says every business person must get good at 4 habits to be successful—prospecting, calling, selling, and working. If you master the first three, the fourth one (working) will take care of itself. Ask yourself: “How can I embrace the things I don’t like doing, do them with enthusiasm, and make them fun?” Links & Resources The Successful Mind Podcast on YouTube – Episode 388 – The Common Denominator of Success Embrace the things that set you apart with more thought provoking episodes from The Successful Mind Podcast: Episode 339 – David From The Stage: The Common Denominator of Success Episode 127 – How Bad Do You Really Want Success? The Successful Mind Podcast – Inside Episode 387 – Know Thyself

https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/Inside_Episode_387-Know_Thyself.mp3 Today BT and I are going deeper into what it means to “know thyself.” Knowing yourself—and understanding why you want the things you want (i.e., your motives) is everything. By NOT having this understanding, you risk blindly going through life, reacting to everything without understanding why. In today’s episode we discuss:    Why it’s important to know yourself and understand how you’re perceiving things You’re the center of your own universe—and nobody else is observing things in the same way YOU’RE observing them You either see yourself as a victim life…or you don’t (and the difference between the two) Your perception is based on the meanings that were given to you about the things you’re perceiving What we can learn about truth versus falsehood from the movie, “The Silence of the Lambs” Why Vernon Howard was such a huge influence on my own personal growth—and how he helped me learn more about my behaviors, my ways of thinking, and my judgements (which I had no clue were there) Good books to read to understand stoic philosophy and how to keep things simple   There’s an old stoic saying: “Know the truth and the truth will set you free.” There’s a very different energy about the truth…versus a “story” you’re convinced is true. Do you know yourself and why you do the things you do? The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 387 – Know Thyself

https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_387-TEM90A_MDM_9-27-20-Know_Thyself.mp3 The early Greeks instructed us to “know thyself.” This maxim is the key to self-improvement and self-enlightenment. Knowing yourself is about knowing who you are, what you do, your tendencies, your weaknesses, your strengths, and uncovering the hidden things about you that control you. When you know yourself, you know everyone else. You understand their motives, intentions, and what they’re doing. Vernon Howard is one of the best authors and teachers I know of who can help you study yourself. In today’s episode I’m covering many of his ideas, along with Marcus Aurelius’s principle of simplicity. You’ll learn: How to look at complex problems  and break them down to each separate part Truth cannot and will not force itself on anyone who’s not ready to see it—we have to actually WANT to see the truth before we can see it The truth is simple; lies and falsehood are complicated To understand the truth, you have to know yourself What it means to “see the wrongness” (i.e., ignorance or misunderstanding) in what you’re doing Every obstacle exists within ourselves There’s only one “true gate” and a thousand false gates The higher the barrier, the greater opportunity is for advancement Why you should let your higher self think for you   When you see the truth in any situation, the suffering goes away. When you shine a light on the darkness, the darkness goes away. But you have to be willing to see the truth. You’ll see it when you’re ready to see it. The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 386 – David From The Stage: The Subconscious Shift Needed For Sales Mastery

https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_386-David_From_The_Stage-The_Subconscious_Shift_Needed_For_Sales_Mastery.mp3 Being in sales gives you a way to earn far more money than the average person, because it’s all based on YOU and how much you sell. In the late 1980s I began working for Metropolitan Life Insurance. A guy named Rick started outselling everybody, even the rockstar salespeople at the company. I observed him, trying to understand what he was doing to sell so much. In today’s episode I share: What it takes to become a master salesperson and the subconscious “shift” you need to make in order to sell more Why inserting your subconscious “financial issues” into a sales conversation is never a good idea (don’t ever assume other people are viewing money the exact same way you are) How I improved my sales overnight and went from making $50,000 a year to $50,000 a month—by doing two specific things Why confidence is so powerful in sales—because it gives you the ability to change someone’s energy You must not be afraid to ask really personal questions or go to “sensitive” topics during a sales conversation Why you must learn to “ask for more”  Understanding what your sales prospect’s goals are (i.e., what they really want and why they want it) is the key to sales   Plus, I share how to identify your own internal “buying strategy” and your internal stories about money and sales, so that you can recognize when these show up with someone else. If you want to change anything in your life—including your ability to sell—you must realize just how powerful your subconscious mind is at trying to stop you from changing it. You must become aware of what you’re currently unconscious of.   Links & Resources The Successful Mind Podcast on YouTube – Episode 386- David From The Stage: The Subconscious Shift Needed for Sales Mastery Kickstart your own subconscious shift with these previously released episodes from The Successful Mind Podcast: Episode 020 – How Money Moves Episode 194 – David From The Stage: Sales Mastery Series – Sales is an Art Episode 333 – The Psychology of Sales If you enjoy the show, would you please consider leaving a short review on Apple Podcasts? The Successful Mind Podcast – Inside Episode 385 – Study Where You’re Going

https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/Inside_Episode_385-Study_Where_You_re_Going.mp3 If you’re going through your life, experiencing the same problems over and over again, not getting the results you want —chances are, your parents and your grandparents also had those same problems. We’re all programmed to be a certain way, and unless you take the time to study a new way of being and doing things, you’ll stay stuck in the program. If you want to advance your life , make it better, and become a success, you have to study. Specifically, you have to study where you’re going. In this episode you’ll learn: Human beings are supposed to learn from their mistakes, get better, and move forward—and when we don’t do that, something else is driving our behavior If you keep repeating the same problems over and over again, you most likely have a core wound at play There’s something you can take away from every successful person’s story that will make your life better—and if you’re not interested in a particular lesson, you could be shutting yourself off and avoiding going to some place inside of yourself The idea of “life isn’t fair” comes from a cancerous sense of entitlement growing in our society We’re not entitled to anything—if you want something in this life, you have to work towards it to become it You must accept yourself for who you are, how you want to live, and what you want to believe in, regardless of what other people think Consciously, we always have a choice as to how we feel   If you don’t study, you’re never going to know any of this. I’ve always had a process of studying. It always comes back to answering these two questions: “Where am I going in my career?” and “What is it that I’m doing?” Links & Resources The Successful Mind Podcast on YouTube – Inside Episode 385: Study Where You’re Going The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 155: The Edge of Uncertainty The Beautiful Fall – Alicia Drake The Revolt of the Public – Martin Gurri The Evolution of Desire – David Buss More episodes that add purpose to your personal growth journey from The Successful Mind Podcast: Episode 078 – Seven Years of Study Episode 278 – How to Choose Beyond Your Programming – Part I Episode 279 – How to Choose Beyond Your Programming – Part II If you enjoy the show, would you please leave a short review on Apple Podcasts? The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 385 – Study Where You’re Going

https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_385-TEM90A_MDM_9-26-20-Study_Where_Youre_Going.mp3 Successful people have put in thousands, tens of thousands of hours, in mastering what they do. Our brain often wants to find a “hack” so we can reach our end result faster. But there’s no secret hack. It’s all based on cause and effect. You must BECOME the person who does it by studying where you’re going. That involves experiencing constant change, growth, and making adjustments. Many people can’t change, won’t change, or get tired of changing, so they drop out of whatever they’re doing. They look for a magical transformation that never happens. If you want to achieve anything in life, you need to make a lifelong study out of that thing. In today’s episode you’ll learn: Understanding someone’s journey—what they had to overcome, how they overcame it, and what they learned—can help you reach your desired end result Why looking only at the end result of success can be an “illusion” that doesn’t show the process it took to get there—or the mistakes successful people made along the way Why getting the end result won’t solve all of your problems—and the idea of “short-cutting” your way to success is often based on unconscious programming and core wounds How your subconscious mind gets you to avoid doing the things necessary to get you where you want to go (so you can avoid experiencing your core wound) Why so many people adapted poorly to COVID My own process of studying everything that stands out to me, including biographies of people who are in completely different fields   By making a study out of where you’re going—you’ll get to see, understand, and hear about the work, the transformations, the hard times, the failures, the mistakes, and the adjustments successful people made along the way. The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 384 – Lessons From The Vault: Raising the Bar

https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_384-Lessons_From_The_Vault-Raising_The_Bar.mp3 Increasing your income is largely a matter of changing your mindset around how much money you’ll tolerate earning (as part of your “bottom line”). My specialty is in helping people make that mental shift, so that they can increase their wealth consciousness. In all my years of coaching, I’ve found that most people engage in a similar pattern: when they try to have a quantum leap in earning more money, they struggle. They navigate between two invisible “lines” that were literally programmed into them. In today’s episode you’ll learn:   Why most people who were raised middle class, working class or below, spend a lot of time bouncing back and forth between their “need line” and their “bottom line” Everyone’s “bottom line” is different—and it’s based on the amount of income they’ll tolerate earning What you’re comfortable with tells the whole story What “survival” and “toleration” have to do with your income What it takes to “raise the bar” in your income and create a new set point (or a “new normal”) for yourself How to permanently increase your income   Plus, I’ll walk you through an exercise to show you how you’re programmed around money.]  Until you learn how to raise your bottom line, you’ll never raise the top one (i.e., the amount of money you dream of earning). Our programming is geared towards what we “need” and what our bottom line is—so if you want to increase your income, you have to increase your bottom line. This is the greatest abundance lesson I could ever give you.   Links & Resources The Successful Mind Podcast on YouTube – Episode 384 – Lessons From the Vault:  Raising the Bar Want more income?
