The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 429 – Full Throttle Thursday – Dishonorably Discharged: Mandates & Our Military
https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_429-Full_Throttle_Thursday-Veterans_Day.mp3
In the United States, it’s our right to openly disagree with our government, without consequence. People have fought and died to protect this right. Veterans Day was turned into a national holiday by President Eisenhower on May 26th, 1954, to honor those who have served in our great military, both past and present.
In today’s episode, BT and I discuss what the Biden administration is trying to do to dishonor these very important people. President Biden has apparently said that anybody who’s active military who declines to get the COVID vaccine, will be dishonorably discharged. I served in the military many years ago, and I find this inappropriate, disturbing, and completely wrong.
A dishonorable discharge is the equivalent of a felony. It ruins your life. You lose all military privileges and benefits. You lose your right to vote in most states. You lose the right to carry or own a gun in the United States, just as if you were a regular felon.
When you go down the road of punishing people who disagree with the government, that sets a dangerous precedent. World history shows what this kind of mindset leads to. The Nazis didn’t become the Nazis overnight—it all slipped away gradually, over time. Germany slipped away one mandate, one idea, at a time. Russia slipped away a little bit at a time. All the communist countries and those with totalitarian regimes slipped away—until the people couldn’t do anything anymore.
We can’t tolerate that in the United States. If we tolerate this, we’ll start turning into a totalitarian government. That’s how these things start. Our government does not get to say, “You have to agree with this, or you’ll be punished.”
I want to state for the record: I’m not an anti-vax person. I’m an anti-mandate person. There’s something about the Covid vaccine mandate that concerns me and is extremely wrong to me. In my opinion, it’s a dangerous mindset. It can cause us to risk losing our rights and our beloved country.
We wish all of our veterans out there a “Happy Veterans Day.” We honor you and thank you for your commitment to keeping us safe and doing what you do.

The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 428 – The Inner Game of Sales – Part V
https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_428-The_Inner_Game_of_Sales_Series-Part_V.mp3
Are you looking for ways to boost sales in your business? Listen in its entirely this 5-part series titled, “The Inner Game of Sales.” You’ll learn tips and tricks to boosting your income in a short period of time. These tips will make selling easier, more profitable, and more fun. To get the best results, be sure to listen to and study all 5 episodes. This is part 5 of 5.
To get really good at sales, you need to have courage during your sales conversations. This means you need to be in control of what you’re doing, you need to be able to ask questions that might not seem very “nice,” and you need to be able to sit in the uncomfortable silence after you’ve asked a question. You need to be able to challenge people’s deeply held personal beliefs, and then ask for a commitment. All of that takes courage.
One of the fastest ways to become amazing at sales is to get over your own resistance. You must first overcome any challenges you have within yourself—including any limited beliefs you have around money, time, boundaries, or other things. You have to get a lot of things straight with YOU first, before you can influence someone else.
In this episode you’ll learn:
A sales conversation is NOT the place to have casual talk about anything unrelated to the sale
A person’s mind is highly reactive to any stimulus, so talking about something casual is a distraction
In a sales conversation, your job is to ask for the commitment
Questions you can ask to get a person to make a commitment to go after what they want
What it means when somebody tells you, “I don’t have enough money” (hint: it has to do with urgency)
Why having a value conflict in your own mind about money (or other things) will cause you have a “double binding message,” which will kill the sale
You must always convey the “impression of increase” during a sales call, so that people feel like YOU have the answer to their problem
Why you should never try to get the other person to “like” you (they’ll think, “If this person’s like me, then they can’t really help me”)
To influence someone else, you must first be able to influence yourself. How much do YOU go after what you really want (versus just what you “need”)?

The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 427 – Mindset Monday’s – Create Your Own Destiny
https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_427-TEM90A_MDM_8-14-20-Create_Your_Own_Destiny.mp3
In As a Man Thinketh, James Allen teaches how our thoughts play a role in our ability to achieve anything. Everything we achieve—and fail to achieve—is the direct result of our own thoughts. Once you understand this, you realize YOU’RE responsible for everything in your life, including the successes and the failures.
Many people believe their achievements and failures are based on something outside of them. That’s simply not true. They often tighten up around the idea of taking “responsibility” for their own life. If you’re doing that, then you’ve linked that word—responsibility—to something you’re judging negatively.
In today’s episode you’ll learn:
In a just and orderly universe, individual responsibility must be absolute; it has to come first above all else
Responsibility is one of the most freeing things—it gets rid of shame and guilt, and removes the BS from your thinking
Your greatest power is your ability to choose: “I can choose to think something different”
When you have a genuine desire for something, pursuing that thing is often essential to your next level of growth
A strong man cannot help a weaker man unless the weaker one is willing to be helped—and even then, the weak man must be strong himself
Before you can achieve anything, you must lift your thoughts above “slobbish animal indulgence” (i.e., survival thinking)
There can be no progress or achievement without sacrifice (i.e., letting go of something of a lower nature, in order to gain something of a higher nature)
Every one of us has the ability to create our own destiny. We’re not held down, held back, or underpaid by any other person, unless we allow that to happen. We don’t have to change society to be free. We need to step into our freedom, regardless of what society thinks, because society won’t change in order to fix your problem.

The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 426 – Full Throttle Thursday – You CAN Always Get What You Want: The Rolling Stones & The Power of Music
https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_426-Full_Throttle_Thursday-You_CAN_Always_Get_What_You_Want-The_Rolling_Stones_The_Power_of_Music.mp3
The Rolling Stones have created some of the most amazing music the world has ever known. They’ve been rocking since 1962—for nearly 60 years, thanks to their insane work ethic, unparalleled commitment to their craft, and professionalism. Their longevity is rare in the music world. No matter what their age is, they keep going at a high level. They’re not doing it for the money—they’re doing it because they love doing what they do. You won’t find a more prolific band than that. I recently got to see them in concert, and it was so fun.
In today’s episode, BT and I chat about some of the bands, singers, and songs we’ve fallen in love with over the years, and how music has a deep impact on people—because it can transport you to the past, and to other worlds.
We discuss:
How I was exposed to many types of music growing up (my parents loved Motown, and my dad grew up with the Buckinghams on the south Side of Chicago)
My earliest memory of being deeply moved by a song (for BT, “Time in a Bottle” by Jim Croce brings him instantly to his past)
How music has evolved from albums to eight tracks, cassettes, CDs, and beyond
How going to the record store was like a rite of passage as a teenage boy or girl
Some of our favorite bands and singers—including the Beatles, The British invasion, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, Ginsburg, and many others
How different genres of rock music have changed between 1980 and 2000
How weird it is to see people age (especially when you’re the same age as them)
All of the musicians and bands we’ve loved have gone through the same human struggles that you and I go through. They’ve just found a way to persevere—and they did it through music. Here’s to all the great musicians out there who just won’t quit.

https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_425-The_Inner_Game_of_Sales_Series-Part_IV.mp3
Are you looking for ways to boost sales in your business? Listen to this 5-part series titled, “The Inner Game of Sales.” You’ll learn tips and tricks to boosting your income in a short period of time. These tips will make selling easier, more profitable, and more fun. To get the best results, please listen to and study all 5 episodes. This is part 4 of 5.
Sales conversations can be fun and seriously life-changing for people, as long as you really believe in what you’re offering to someone. The key to selling is get people to buy into what THEY want to do—and to tap into THEIR reasons for wanting to do it (not your reasons why you think they should buy).
Given that you’re in control of the sales conversation, you can guide the process of creating urgency for the other person to go after what they truly want.
In today’s episode you’ll learn:
Amazing salespeople understand how the mind works, and how to lead the mind
How to bypass psychological resistance on a sales call by asking the person, “What do you really want?”
How to get people to think deeply in the moment, so they can answer your questions (and why you shouldn’t rush in to “save” a person from answering a really deep question)
How thinking about consequences of NOT doing something creates urgency, which moves the conversation into a buying conversation
What causes a person to say “yes” during a sales call(they became aware that there’s something important in their life that they need—and want—to change)
People who have a barrier up and don’t want to share anything aren’t your ideal clients (your ideal clients WANT to engage with you)
How to limit refunds, lawsuits, and unhappy people talking about your product or service on the internet—by having great customer service
Plus, I share how I recognize where a sales conversation goes bad. (Hint: it has to do with “telling” versus “asking questions.”)
Very few people have relationships in their life where somebody really cares about what they want—so when you actively show up and passionately ask the person what they want, they become fully, emotionally engaged in the question. This is what ramps up your sales!
Stay tuned next week for the final episode in this 5-part series!

The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 424 – Mindset Monday’s – Keep The Truth In Front of You
https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_424-TEM90A_MDM_8-13-20-Keep_the_Truth_in_Front_of_You.mp3
Many people have created their life out of fear, ignorance, or insecurity. As they start to wake up to who they are and what they truly desire, they’re like, “What the hell have I created?” Their life is a big problem, like the Titanic. They’re wondering, “How do I turn this thing around and get everything moving in the right direction?”
If you want to start pursuing your desire, there will be a transition phase as you move in a new direction. This transition can spark more fear. The tendency is to hold onto something to try to feel better, more secure, or grounded. In order to move forward, you have to hold onto the truth—and keep the truth in front of you as you take action.
In today’s episode you’ll learn:
The higher side of yourself wants something different that’s not based in fear or insecurity
Everything you secretly desire in your heart is also seeking you—but it can’t see you until AFTER you make the decision to step into it and trust it
When you get tired—emotionally tired, physically tired, or psychologically tired—it’s easier just to accept “what is” than to take a stand for what you truly want
No matter what you’re facing, you should always ask, “Who am I?” and, “Am I coming from fear or desire?”
Whether you make a decision based in fear or desire—either way, it has to grow
When you put yourself in the right state of mind and alter your thoughts toward things and people—those things and people will alter the way they show up for you
Law, not confusion is the dominating principle in the universe
To create what you want, you’ll have to let go of certain things to make space for what you really desire.

The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 423 – Full Throttle Thursday – Beam Me Up Bezos! William Shatner & The Final Frontier
https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_423-Full_Throttle_Thursday-Beam_Me_Up_Bezos_William_Shatner_The_Final_Frontier.mp3
Captain Kirk just went to space! At the age of 90, William Shatner, best known for his famous role in Star Trek, went to space aboard Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin New Shepard rocket. He was only up there for 10 minutes (and it’s debatable whether it was really “space” or just the edge of space)—but doing that at his age broke so many paradigms about what’s possible.
Ten years ago, Shatner turned down an offer from Virgin Galactic to go into space, due to his fear of flying. He eventually overcame his fear, then blasted into space with Bezos’ rocket.
In today’s episode BT and I discuss:
William Shatner’s trip to space, his emotional reaction to it, and my thoughts on space tourism as a business
How things that were once “science fiction” a few decades ago (like the flip phone) are now a real part of our everyday life
The drama around Shatner and some of his co-workers (like George Takei) on Star Trek
How the Pentagon admitted they have the footage of “unidentified aerial phenomenon” (a.k.a. UFOs) in San Diego and on the east coast
Humanity’s tendency to tell stories about aliens being hostile towards us (as if we assume other lifeforms won’t have advanced emotional maturity)
How strange it is that we haven’t gone back to the moon, because we apparently “lost” the information on how to get back
Why some intellectuals and scientists can’t enjoy science fiction, due to their need to be right
The billionaire rivalry between Richard Branson, Jeff Bezos, and Elon Musk and the race to get humanity into space
Going into space is an act of risking your life. It’s not something I personally have on my bucket list. But I find it very interesting how people are exploring and using their imagination to bring new things into the world.

The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 422 – The Inner Game of Sales – Part III
https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_422-The_Inner_Game_of_Sales_Series-Part_III.mp3
This is part 3 of 5.
Understanding how to take control of a sales conversation makes you a much stronger salesperson. During a sales call, it’s more effective to ask questions than to “tell” a person anything. People are programmed to answer questions—and if you understand this, you can greatly improve your sales.
Two of the most important questions to ask during a sales call are:
“What do you want?” (And understanding why they want it)
“Why do you think you’re not getting it?” (This gives you some perspective on how they view the world. Do they see themselves as a victim? Or as responsible for their outcomes?)
You also need to determine the “perceived value” the prospect has in their mind—i.e., why they see your offer as valuable (or not). Their perceived value is based on their perception, not your perception. The prospect isn’t buying the features and benefits you think they’re buying
In today’s episode you’ll learn:
How to maintain control of a sales conversation and ensure the person is focused (not distracted) during the call
You don’t have to “create rapport” on a sales call—instead, people will follow your directive if it’s presented the right way
Whenever you tell somebody the price of your offer, it causes a psychological reaction in every person—and they immediately compare your price to something else
Why you should never be in a rush during a sales conversation
Why you must pay close attention to your tone of voice when you’re asking someone a question (like “what do you want?”)
Why “zero noise” should come out of your mouth after you ask the questions
You should treat sales calls as important—because what you’re offering is important, and these aren’t just casual conversations at a bar. You should feel deep in your soul that your product or your service changes someone’s life and makes it better in some way.
Stay tuned next week for part 4 of this 5-part series!

The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 421 – Mindset Monday’s – Mind is the Master Power
https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_421-TEM90A_MDM_8-10-20-Mind_is_the_Master_Power.mp3
In As a Man Thinketh, James Allen writes about the power of your mind. Through your mind, you can literally shape your entire world. You create everything in your life—including what you want and what you DON’T want.
“Mind is the master power that molds and makes,” he writes. You can “bring forth a thousand joys” or “a thousand ills.”
Your thinking may be done in secret, but as Allen demonstrates—whatever you continually manifest in the exterior world is a clue as to what you’ve been thinking about for a long time.
In today’s episode you’ll learn:
A man is literally what he thinks
You’re the master of your own life, even in your weakest state—and even if you misgovern your own household
Your character and who you are is the sum of all of your thoughts
People create drama in their life, because they don’t have any another option in their consciousness
Whenever someone does something that appears to be “bad,” remember this phrase—“I understand that they don’t understand”
Nobody intentionally destroys another person or themselves from a conscious perspective; it’s always an unconscious belief that’s causing them to do that
So much of what we do (and how we react to others) is completely unconscious
When we judge things in our life, this makes our experience more difficult. Judgment not only destroys our self-esteem, but it keeps us locked into our “story,” which is difficult to break out of. It blocks us from seeing the truth.
No matter what’s going on in your life, you can remove the judgment from it and say, “This is interesting—why am I creating this in my life?” Remember that your mind is creating your circumstances; not the other way around.
Once you’re aware of this, you can then begin to change the patterns of thought that are causing things to show up that you don’t want.

The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 420 – Full Throttle Thursday – Finding TRUTH In the Joe Rogan vs Sanjay Gupta Interview
https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_420-Full_Throttle_Thursday-Rogan_vs_Gupta.mp3
The internet is buzzing over Joe Rogan’s recent podcast interview with CNN head doctor, Dr. Sanjay Gupta. For three hours they discussed COVID, vaccinations, and how the media has been handling the pandemic.
I’ve been watching Rogan for many years—he’s a very curious human being with a wide range of guests from all different landscapes. I was excited to hear that Gupta would be on the show. I thought, “This will make sense. This will bring some real answers. There will probably be a good debate here.”
But what happened during the podcast—and what happened after—caused so many questions in my mind about what Gupta’s real agenda was…I had to share my take on it.
Like many others, Rogan is simply trying to find the truth. But it’s apparent that we’re not allowed to have that conversation, because it keeps getting shut down. The narrative is, “Don’t talk about it. Our way is the only right way.”
In today’s episode, BT and I discuss what we saw and heard in that interview. My hope is that we shed some light on what actually happened. I highly recommend you watch the JRE interview for yourself and be your own judge. We’ll leave it up to you to decide where you stand.
I also want to encourage everybody to have open, honest conversations without fear of anybody, or fear of any repercussions. Say what you want to say instead of hiding behind it. You have an opinion that matters. This isn’t about “wins and losses” or “my side is better than yours”—it’s about coming to an understanding, having civil conversations, and being able to voice your opinion even if you think you may get canceled.
