HEALTHY BITE | Sleep and 4 Key Questions

"If you ask your patients the right questions, then often they’ll not only tell you what’s wrong with them, but they’ll sometimes even tell you how to fix it. If you’re listening carefully enough.” I had a mentor 30 years ago, Dr Janet Travell, who said this to me and I still remember and value it to this very day. This week I had the absolute pleasure of talking with a sleep physician, Dr Dave McCarty. Today we are further highlighting the topic of sleep which is a big and important topic and is always worth revisiting. Join me as we speak about the 4 key questions to ask your patients, sleep-disordered breathing conditions, micropore tape, and many more. ----  You can also watch this episode at https://drronehrlich.com/  ----- TIME TO TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR HEALTH? Dr Jim Bartley: Breathing & Vitamin D Matters

Every time I speak to somebody about breathing, I learn something new. And as the world we live in becomes increasingly more complex, the theme of this podcast is that many of the solutions to enjoying good health are remarkably simple, cheap, accessible, and, most importantly, effective. And what can be more accessible than focussing on breathing? Dr Jim Bartley is an ear nose and throat specialist with more than 30 years of experience. He is an honorary associate professor in surgery at the University of Auckland. He’s based in New Zealand. He’s written over 60 articles in refereed journals, he’s contributed chapters to 17 books and wrote two books himself. “Breathing Matters” and “Healing Headaches”.   CREDITS:   Host: Dr Ron Ehrlich Guest: Amelia Navascues Producer: Amelia Navascues ----  You can also watch this episode at https://drronehrlich.com/  ----- TIME TO TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR HEALTH? ARCHIVE | James Nestor Revisited: Breath - The New Science of a Lost Art

Why do we breathe? How often? How much? Should we breathe through our nose or mouth? How important is this?   Hello and welcome to another Healthy Bite, although this week it is also an Unstress episode. I spoke to Dr Theodore Belfor, a true pioneer in the dental world about epigenetic orthodontics and the role of breath.   Today, I wanted to stitch in and replay for you a very important episode that we did with James Nestor, who authored the book Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art. James’ personal story was the case study that Theodore shared with us. I hope you enjoy this week’s episode. ----  You can also watch this episode at https://drronehrlich.com/  ----- TIME TO TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR HEALTH? HEALTHY BITE | Social Media, Validation & Clitoracy

On today’s Healthy Bite, I reflect on my conversation with Jessica Pin, her experience with labiaplasty, societal ideas around “normal”, the role of social media, the lack of medical education around female anatomy (which is shocking) and the importance of really listening to our patients. ----  You can also watch this episode at https://drronehrlich.com/  ----- TIME TO TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR HEALTH? Jessica Pin: Clitoracy and Labiaplasty

Jessica Pin had a labiaplasty at 18. The surgeon went on to perform an extra part of the operation that she did not consent to…..and things went wrong. Rather than listen to what she was experiencing post-operatively and explore what might have gone wrong, he denied anything physically had occurred and suggested her symptoms were purely psychological. This led Jessica to question many things; the information she had been given about our ideas around “normal” available to us all on the internet; the medical profession listening to patient real problems; a lack of validation that her symptoms were indeed physical; the medical education system in general and superficially how much does a specialist gynaecologist/obstetrician (even a female specialist) know about the female anatomy. The answers may shock you. This is an important conversation that also addresses cosmetic surgery, the influence of the internet and social media, the scope of basic anatomy and its role in medical training and clitoracy, a subject every adult, male and female should know about. HEALTHY BITE | The Art of Branding a Condition... But We Could Do Better

This week on the Unstress podcast I was fortunate enough to speak to Dr Phillip Altman, whom has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over 40 years.   In today’s Healthy Bite I reflect on our conversation and the topics we talked about including what Dr Altman recognised as the three types of science, the role of the pharmaceutical industry, PCR tests, marketing and a story that is easy to miss but difficult to ignore once you hear it. ----  You can also watch this episode at https://drronehrlich.com/  ----- TIME TO TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR HEALTH?
