AP 409: 4 Keys to a Supported (+ Awesome!) Summer
I'm coming to you live from day two of summer break in this episode where I want to get real about navigating this time of year so you can have fun and feel like your best self. But first, this is not an episode about 100 awesome things to do with your kids over the next 2 months (although I have some help for that here!) These are my 4 keys to helping you feel supported throughout this season, so you can be awesome with your family and for yourself. During the summer you are managing a lot more, you're managing more needs, you're managing more interruptions, and you are managing less routines. I will show you that by prioritizing your self in some ways, you will feel more successful in providing care to those around you. And I'm keeping this really simple with 4 straightforward tips that you can start working on right away to enjoy this summer instead of just surviving it. Full Show Notes + Transcript NEW!! AP 408: Go On A Meditation Walk || Growth Spurt
Wait! Before you think this episode is not for you, let me explain the simple "how" (and why) I meditate almost every single day. If you've been part of this community for even a short while, you've likely seen me share my daily walk or hike. In this episode I'm diving into that special part of my daily routine, so you can see how to simply start a meditative walk for yourself. This practice has allowed me to process some really difficult things, and just give me clear time and space to think. With the chaos of external influence and business of our responsibilities, taking the time to yourself in some introspective way can be truly beneficial. Full Show Notes NEW!! AP 407: You Need to Have More Fun (+ HOW!) || with Catherine Price
If you had an hour totally to yourself, what would you do? Author Catherine Price explains in today's interview that when faced with that exact situation she found herself signing up for a guitar class. That choice spiraled into what she now knows as true fun. When was the last time that you had fun? Maybe you're wondering what fun even is. Catherine compiled her research into her book "The Power of Fun," which she shares about in this episode along with some powerful personal anecdotes. By taking care of ourselves in this way and giving ourselves the opportunity to let go and have fun, it makes us better at our responsibilities. If you are capable of having fun then you bring it to other people, and it’s a gift to give others that comfort, joy, and lightness. It's time to take having fun more seriously and see how rewarding that can be. Full Show Notes + Transcript NEW!! AP 406: Backyard Updates, Our Short Lived Camping Trip, Summer DSL Goals, Plans to Travel Abroad || Messy Middle June 2022
In this monthly series I'm sharing what real progress (including real, imperfect, messiness!) looks like for me. May was a whirlwind, and I'm feeling extra grateful for the "highs" and less focused on any so-called "lows." Our attempt at a camping trip is particularly amusing, and a true glimpse at doing something instead of only all-or-nothing. Tune in to hear what I have planned for this month, including the things I want to cross off my Do Something List and the important habit I have been able to establish to help my daughter. I am also throwing out a pretty big dream right now to travel abroad as a family. I hope these episodes encourage you to pursue your life more messily, and to find purpose and fulfillment in the realness. Full Show Notes + Transcript NEW!! AP 405: "How can I reliably carry out tasks when I feel stuck with overwhelm?" || Coaching Call with Sarah
“I never thought I could make space for something that is fulfilling, but can also be stressful and uncomfortable.” That is just one of the a-ha moments Sarah uncovered in today's coaching call. Many of you will relate to some aspect of her life, whether it's her season of motherhood, balancing full time work, or her grapple with perfectionism and fulfillment. Sarah's initial concern is how to reliably carry out her tasks when she feels stuck with overwhelm, but as we dig deeper we uncover all of the things at play in this struggle. As I guide Sarah to look at the practical, as well as deep, changes she can start to make, you can apply the same to your circumstances. From this episode you can take away the permission to be human and do things imperfectly. Plus, create a practical habit that will help you refocus in those moments of overwhelm that we all experience. Full Show Notes + Transcript NEW!! AP 401: How we are overhauling our family culture with a year of FUN! || with Monica and Brad Packer
I can't imagine we are alone in feeling like after the last couple (very stressful) years, our family was in need of some healing. Even our young children were feeling the same increasing strain that we felt as individuals, and parents. In this episode, my husband, Brad, details how schedules, bedtimes, and cleaning the house had taken precedence over enjoying one another's presence. And I share what came to me from the passenger's seat during our New Year's Day drive: this needed to be our year of FUN! We want to encourage you to identify your family's values (with tips on how to do that!) so that you can change the culture in your home to be one that serves you, rather than scares you. From small steps, to the bigger picture we're getting personal in hopes of showing you what a similar overhaul may do for you, too. Full Show Notes NEW!!
