After years of experience and the willingness to learn, he worked his way up the ladder to his position today as our Production Manager. In fact, one thing Daniel really enjoys about working at SIE is that any person can go from knowing next to nothing about electrical, to participating in the training program that allows them to become a full-fledged electrician in a relatively short amount of time. In addition to the training program, Daniel enjoys the group and atmosphere of the company. He finds that each person is in good spirits and ready to get the job done every day, which he, as a manager, has undoubtably helped shape. In ways similar to Daniel’s ability to lead and create a positive space for our electricians, he finds the most interesting part of electricity to be how we have managed to be able to harness it and use it to create work that would otherwise be impossible. Evolution of Leadership in Construction - Construction Champions Podcast 2-11 Kevin Britz

In this episode of the Construction Champions podcast, host Ron Nussbaum talks with Kevin Britz, CEO of Leadership by Design, about the evolution of leadership in the construction industry. They discuss the critical skills necessary for the future of work and how leaders can adapt and evolve to create a more effective and successful work environment. Topics discussed: - Introduction and passion for human behavior- The evolution of leadership in the construction industry- Critical skills for the future of work- Leadership philosophy and creating boundaries- Importance of self-management and attention management- Evaluating one's own leadership style- How to follow and connect with Kevin Britz Key takeaways:- The construction industry needs to adapt and evolve its leadership to meet the changing demands of the future of work.- Critical thinking, creativity, social intelligence, self-management, and attention management are essential skills for effective leadership in the modern workplace.- Creating a well-defined leadership philosophy and setting boundaries can lead to a more cohesive and productive work environment.- Evaluating and understanding one's own leadership style is crucial for personal and professional growth.- Kevin Britz's book "The Future of Work is Human" and a free downloadable PDF for evaluating leadership are valuable resources for further exploration. About Kevin My philosophy - The Sovereignty and Agency Philosophy of Leadership Sovereignty refers to an individual's inherent right to self-governance and autonomy. Agency, on the other hand, is the capacity to act independently, make choices, and exercise one's own free will. Together, these concepts form a foundational philosophy for exceptional leaders. At the heart of leadership is the belief in an individual's potential to identify, navigate, and shape their own path. By recognizing and respecting people's sovereignty, leaders create a space where individuals feel valued and heard, fostering an environment of mutual trust. This empowers people to openly share their desires, concerns, and aspirations. Furthermore, by emphasizing agency, exceptional leaders reinforce the idea that while they provide guidance, tools, and resources, the ultimate power to enact change lies within the people. This encourages a proactive mindset, where everyone in the organization takes responsibility for their actions and decisions, leading to more sustainable and authentic growth. In essence, prioritizing sovereignty and agency promotes a leadership relationship built on partnership rather than hierarchy. It shifts the narrative from the leader being a directive expert to one of a collaborative ally. This not only enhances the effectiveness of effective high-performing teams but also ensures that the transformations achieved are deeply resonant and self-directed. This has been written and rewritten several times to find what I believe to be a perfect execution of my philosophy on leadership.
