Many people contact me because their prior therapy just felt like chatting with a friend. To the extent that a listener even asked me, "Is it possible to be too similar to your therapist, and this is why they just validate you and say they have the same issues?" In this episode, we differentiate between therapy and friendship, discuss reasons related to you, the therapist, and other factors that may be limiting your growth in therapy, and what to do if you feel stuck but still really like hanging with the therapist.

It isn't. This can be as bad for you guys as never talking. Also, if you do it in front of your kids, they are not learning anything except how to be uncomfortable and sad at home. Today we discuss the overcommunicating phenomenon, why it occurs, how to reframe it, and what to do instead.
