Chloe McKenzie is a financial artist and wealth justice activist whose work is at the intersection of education, finance, social justice and the visual and performing arts. She has become one of the leaders on wealth justice and financial education, namely through her organization BlackFem®, a nonprofit with the mission to transform school-based learning so that Black girls and girls of color have the skills, habits and resources to build and sustain wealth. ChloeB came from an affluent household in Prince George’s County Maryland, where she learned the power of the money the hard way, went on to work on Wall Street as a trader, burnt out to the point of illness, and left it all behind to make her life’s mission to close the wealth gap for women of color. Alisa and Cristal Ramirez, Katie Henderson, and McKenna Petty: The Aces
Get to know my new favorite band: The Aces. Comprised of sisters Alisa and Cristal Ramirez, Katie Henderson, and McKenna Petty, The Aces grew up in Provo, Utah where they started the band in their early teens in Katie’s garage. After one of their moms cold-called a recording agent by finding his number on Google, they signed with Red Bull Records where they released their debut album When My Heart Felt Volcanic in 2018, and later joined 5 Seconds of Summer for their Meet You There Tour. They’ve also gone on their own North American headlining tour, where they performed on Seth Meyer's Late Night Show and SXSW. This May, they announced the release of their second studio album, Under My Influence, which dropped Friday July 17th. In this episode, The Aces and I talk about what it was like to grow up in one of the most conservative Mormon towns in the United States, our everlasting love for Haley Williams, how they’ve set out to re-define the idea of the girl band, and why this new album is a step in a more honest and real direction for the band. Ezinma: Violinist
Ezinma is a classically-trained violinist, composer, and model, who’s captured the hearts of thousands through her genre-bending covers that have gone viral. Known on Instagram as “Classical Bae,” Ezinma’s sound combines her classical background with the beat of today’s greatest hits, and can often be found sharing her sound on the streets of New York or with her electric violin in a nightclub.
