Cristin Milioti: Actress
Cristin Milioti has seen it all in Hollywood. She’s a musician, singer/songwriter, musician, and actress who got her start on Broadway in 2011, where she played the lead in Once, a breakout role that garnered her a Tony Award nomination and won her a Grammy. She went on to star in roles in How I Met Your Mother, Black Mirror’s USS Callister, The Wolf of Wallstreet, and Fargo, and most recently in Hulu’s summer hit movie Palm Springs alongside Andy Samberg. Milioti and Samberg play two disaffected characters named Sarah and Nyles who meet at a wedding and later get stuck in an infinite time loop, forced to relive the same day over and over again. Sounds just like quarantine, right? In this episode, Cristin and I cover all the shows we’re binging during quarantine, being a multi-discipline artist, and how she prepared for her role in one of the best movies of the summer. Alisa and Cristal Ramirez, Katie Henderson, and McKenna Petty: The Aces
Get to know my new favorite band: The Aces. Comprised of sisters Alisa and Cristal Ramirez, Katie Henderson, and McKenna Petty, The Aces grew up in Provo, Utah where they started the band in their early teens in Katie’s garage. After one of their moms cold-called a recording agent by finding his number on Google, they signed with Red Bull Records where they released their debut album When My Heart Felt Volcanic in 2018, and later joined 5 Seconds of Summer for their Meet You There Tour. They’ve also gone on their own North American headlining tour, where they performed on Seth Meyer's Late Night Show and SXSW. This May, they announced the release of their second studio album, Under My Influence, which dropped Friday July 17th. In this episode, The Aces and I talk about what it was like to grow up in one of the most conservative Mormon towns in the United States, our everlasting love for Haley Williams, how they’ve set out to re-define the idea of the girl band, and why this new album is a step in a more honest and real direction for the band.
