133. Three Rebels and an Upholder [The Four Tendencies] | Replay

What's the best way to motivate yourself? Through her research, Gretchen Rubin came up with The Four Tendencies, four different ways people respond to internally and / or externally motivation. Sammie for example, is an upholder, and will often complete a task if she decides to do it or if someone like her boss needs her to do it. Michelle, a rebel, listens to know one, including herself. Obligers respond to external motivation and suffer if they have to hold themselves accountable. Questioners need to know they why behind the task, and that will determine whether or not they do something.  Sammie and Michelle loved revisiting this fan favorite episode. 132. Lifestyle Inflation | When to Embrace it vs How to Avoid It

Lifestyle Inflation or Lifestyle creep is something that can surprise any of us. Sammie and Michelle are thinking of moving from a low cost of living small to town to a bigger city somewhere else and know that it'll be easy to inflate their lifestyle cost. Lifestyle Inflation is when you start to spend money on everything because you are making more money, the people around you are spending more or moving to a higher cost of living place. Sammie and Michelle share their framework for working to fight Lifestyle Creep. 1. Think very hard about the BIG things2. Start with your priorities and projects over the next few months 3. Beware of lifestyle creep traps, those "treats" like a chocolate croissant in the morning for making it from the train to your office. Those can become every day treats and small additions that add up over time. Check out our new newsletter at buildawealthyspirit.com!
