Today on the podcast is Ted Volz, Founder of Clean Energy.  Ted graduated from The University of Notre Dame in 2004 with a B.A. in Accountancy. He then went to work with PwC from 2004-2020 before starting his own company, Clean Energy. Clean Energy is a clean-label, certified organic smoothie that has changed the paradigm for on-the-go sports nutrition. It has been recognized by Runner's World as a "Best Food to Eat Before a Run" and is used by many of the top collegiate athletic programs across the NCAA.  In this conversation, Ted goes through his passion for athletics, the challenges of creating a company, his dream for Clean Energy, how he handles rejection, and much more! Woody Kincaid Shares His Journey: From Skater Shoes To American Records & The Olympics

The podcast I've been wanting to make happen for months: The Woody Kincaid Special.  Woody Kincaid is a passionate competitor who has accomplished many incredible things in his career. The first time I remember hearing Woody's name was on September 10, 2019, when he became the eighth man in American history to break 13 minutes in the 5k by clocking 12:58.10. Since that day on a brisk and rainy evening in Portland, Oregon, Woody has gone on to etch his name further into the history books. As his Instagram boi alludes, he has literally won the U.S. Trials 10k. He also made the U.S. World Championship team last year in the 5k. Woody ran a new American Record time of 12:51.61 in the 5k this past January, signaling to the world that he's not messing around in 2023. In the words of Woody from this conversation, "The job is never done."  This conversation with Woody was wide-ranging and full of serious topics, such as the lessons he's learned from being in this sport to more comical subjects like putting too much pepper on a Banh Mi sandwich for Gordon Ramsay. We dive into his upbringing in the sport, the 12:58 race, and the special camp that led into it, winning the U.S. Olympic Trials, dealing with negativity and outside noise, what he thinks he can accomplish before he hangs up the spikes, and more.  Woody is a very perspicacious speaker who is incredibly thoughtful about his responses. This trait made this conversation particularly fascinating and impactful. I'm confident you'll walk away from this conversation a better version of yourself and a bigger fan of Woody Kincaid.  You can listen wherever you find your podcasts by searching, "The Running Effect Podcast." A Thoughtful Conversation With Olympian & American Record Holder Shelby Houlihan

Back on the podcast is the one and only Shelby Houlihan!  For those who aren't familiar, Shelby made the US Olympic Team in 2016 and holds the American record in both the 1500 meters (3:54.99) and 5000 meters (14:23.92). She also was part of a team that set a World Record in the women's 4x1500 meters relay with a time of 16:27.02. Prior to her years as a professional with Nike's Bowerman Track Club, Shelby was a 12-time All-American at Arizona State University.  Today's podcast with Shelby is, quite frankly, just catching up since we last talked! In this episode, Shelby takes us through her recent pursuit of getting a master's degree in Sports and Performance Psychology as well as her recent training. We also dive deep into many interesting and even philosophical questions, such as the importance of presence, the power of conversations, the biggest lessons Shelby has learned from life, treating others how you wish to be treated, surrounding yourself with positive people, and much much more! We also discuss the monotony of post-race interviews, the best BTC kit of all time, and how Miko and her new dog are doing.  Shelby is always so full of wisdom, knowledge, and ebullience. I know you'll find deep value from listening to this conversation, and hope you enjoy it as much as we did recording it.  You can listen wherever you find your podcasts by searching, "The Running Effect Podcast." NXN Champion Aaron Sahlman Shares His Story, Winning NXN, Plans On Breaking 800m Record, & Committing To NAU

You asked, and we delivered. Aaron Sahlman comes on the podcast today.  Aaron is fresh off of a remarkable season where he won his first-ever cross-country race... the only catch is that that race was the national championship. Not only did he win in stunning fashion, but also broke his former teammate Nico Young's course record. Aaron also helped his team Newbury Park win their second-ever national team championship. On the track, Aaron is a 4xmile (HS) national record holder and holds PRs of 1:48.91 (800m), 4:01.34 (mile), and 8:48.28 (3200m). Olympian & Newly Minted American Record Holder Yared Nuguse Recaps His Historic Indoor Season + Reading, Dogs, & Sneaking A Pet Tortoise Across The Country

Yared Nuguse. A name you've heard time and time again over the past few months as he's cemented his name into the history books. It all started in Boston, where Yared ran a new American Record in the 3k, clocking 7:28.24. He followed up that performance by running yet another American Record (and the second fastest time ever) with a 3:47.38 at the Millrose Games Wanamaker Mile. Lastly, Yared flew to Europe, where he won a 1500m against a world-class field. Needless to say, Yared is on fire, and I had to get him back on the podcast.  Yared runs for the OAC (On Athletic's Club), is a graduate of The University of Notre Dame, where he won NCAA Championships and set an NCAA Record, and was an Olympian for the US in 2020.  This conversation was insightful, impactful, hilarious, and a ton of fun. Yared documents his last seasons at Notre Dame and how he overcame setbacks and failure, signing with OAC, training with "heavy hitters," breaking two American Records this season, future goals for the rest of the year, sneaking his pet tortoise Tyro across the country, and who has the best dog on OAC (sorry, Gus.)  Needless to say, through listening, you'll be inspired, motivated, and have many laughs along the way.  You can listen wherever you find your podcasts by searching, "The Running Effect Podcast." Today on the podcast, I gladly welcome Drew Hunter. This is a podcast I've wanted to make happen since the origins of the podcast. Drew became the eighth-ever high schooler in high school to break the illustrious four-minute barrier clocking 3:58.25 (a national record).
