Inside The Life Of A D1 Runner At The University Of Notre Dame With CJ Singleton

Today on the podcast is the one and only CJ Singleton! CJ runs for The University of Notre Dame, where he has progressed into a top runner for them. CJ took 14th at NCAA Regionals in the steeplechase (8:51.96), finished sixth in the steeplechase at Outdoor ACCs with a personal best time of 8:43.85, and 19th in the mile at Indoor ACCs (4:08.06). Earlier that season, CJ ran a PR of 4:04.55 in the mile at the Wisconsin Windy City Invite.  CJ also excels in the classroom, making the 2023 All-ACC Outdoor Academic Team & 2023 All-ACC Indoor Academic Team.  In high school, CJ was dominant in the state of Pennslyvania. He ran for Butler High School. He holds 10 school records, 5 state titles, was a 3x All-American, and a National Champion. If you're not familiar with Carley, she is a standout middle-distance runner hailing from Sydney, Australia, who has established herself as a formidable force in collegiate track and field. With a remarkable list of achievements, including being the 2023 Pac-12 800m Runner-Up and a record-holder in the NCAA Distance Medley Relay, Thomas has consistently showcased her prowess on the track. Notably, she secured the 2022 Pac-12 800m Championship and has been a multi-time All-America Second Team honoree for events such as the 800m and Distance Medley Relay. Thomas overcame a challenging setback in 2020, rebounding from a leg fracture to earn the National Women's Freshman of the Year title.  Her success extends beyond the track, as she has been recognized for her academic achievements, earning a spot on the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team multiple times and consistently making the Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll. Graham went undeafted all of the 2023 Cross Country season culminating in him winning the 2023 NCAA XC Title. He won in a time of 28:37.7 on Panorama Farms in Charlottesville, Virginia. He became the first-ever Ivy to win the men's cross country individual national title. Just two short weeks later, Graham lined up for his first race of the indoor season against a historic field, and ran a breathtaking 13:03.78 to win the race and set a new Collegiate Record. Waking Up At 5:00AM To Get Training In Before Her Full-Time Job With Mica Wood

Today on the podcast is Mica Wood! Mica was one of the greatest runners in Utah State history. She set two school records, ran 16:00 in the 5k, & 32:57 in the 10k. Not only was Mica excelling individually, but she also was a massive leader on her team. She led her team to a runner-up finish at the Mountain West XC Championships and to their second-ever NCAA nationals appearance.  Mica decided after graduating that she wanted to continue to pursue her goals in the sport and see how far she could go. Despite working a full-time job, Mica makes time to run 75-mile weeks and chase after these goals under the guidance of her coach and husband, Adam Wood.  Mica also has a big presence on social media where she documents these pursuits! Italian Record Holder Sinta Vissa On Getting Faster, Moving Countries, & Ambitions For 2024

Today on the podcast is Sinta Vissa! She represented Italy at 2023 & 2022 World Athletics Championships competing in the women's 1500 metres. Sinta is the 2022 NCAA 1500m Champion. She is also the Italian indoor record holder for the mile. Sinta was born in Ethiopia and raised in Italy. She moved to the US in 2019 to run in the NCAA, and that led to her joining the OAC and running track professionally. She started running after watching the Ethiopian teams at the 2008 Olympics.  In today's episode, Sinta takes me through her story, moving countries twice and what those transitions were like, going to the NCAA, her progression at Ole Miss, choosing OAC, her amabitions for 2024, and so much more! Back on The Call Room Rising Stars, to close out this series, is the champ himself, Drew Griffith! Drew won the 2023 HOKA Foot Locker National Meet in dominate fashion, winning by over six seconds in a time of 15:06.90. This comes after placing 8th at the meet the year prior. Drew has also had an incredible season winning his first XC State Title in the great state of Pennsylvania. He also ran 14:21 on the grass making him the 11th fastest ever at the distance. Drew currently holds PRs of 4:07 in the Mile, 8:48 in the 2-Mile, and is committed to run for The University of Notre Dame next year.  In today's episode, Drew goes through his National Championship performance, his season as a whole, the performance of his future Notre Dame Teammates, what this race does for the expectations for the rest of his career, where the trophy is going, and so much more! Liam Murphy On His Ascent To The Top Of The NCAA: Insights On Running 3:55 Mile & 13:21 5k

Today on the podcast is a top NCAA runner, Liam Murphy! Liam, a standout runner at Villanova, has left an indelible mark on the track and field record books. His most recent achievement includes shattering the indoor school record in the 5000 meters with a remarkable time of 13:21.20 during the 2023-24 season, surpassing Villanova's previous mark and coming within six-tenths of a second of the absolute school record that has stood for over 40 years. This accomplishment follows his stellar performances during the 2023 cross country season, where he claimed individual championships at both the BIG EAST Championships and the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional. Notably, Liam earned All-America honors with a 14th-place finish at the NCAA Championships and was named the USTFCCCA Mid-Atlantic Region Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive season. His exceptional track record includes being the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional cross country champion, achieving the fastest NCAA season 3000 meters in school history indoors, reaching the final of the 1500 meters at the NCAA Championships outdoors, and contributing to a school-record performance in the distance medley relay indoors. Additionally, Liam set records at the BIG EAST Championships and Villanova Stadium in the 5000 meters outdoors and anchored a Penn Relays Championship of America title in the 4xMile relay. His versatility is evident in various championships, where he secured individual titles in the 3000 meters indoors and the 5000 meters outdoors, as well as playing key roles in conference champion relays. Currently ranking among the top in school history in multiple events, Liam's stellar collegiate career is complemented by his academic achievements, earning him two selections to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team and recognition on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll. Inside The Remarkable Story Of Ashley Jones: How She Fell In Love With Running Amidst Loss & Grief

Today on the podcast is the remarkable Ashley Jones! Ashley's story is second to none and inspires me to this day. Ashley tragically lost her beloved father at the young age of 14. Just a few short months after that, she lost her right arm in an ATV accident.  Her story is one of faith, trust, perseverance, and belief, and today I have the privilege of diving into all of it with her.  To make the story even better, Ashley is an unbelievable runner.  She led her team to a historic 6th place team finish at the 2023 NCAA XC Championships with her finish of 42nd place in a time of 20:07.1. The week prior, she placed seventh at the NCAA South Regional in a time of 18:52.9. This season, she also placed 10th at a stacked SEC Championships.
