S3 Episode 1: Believing Me with Dr. Ingrid Clayton, Psychologist

Dr. Ingrid Clayton is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, an author, singer, a mom, a wife, content creator, she holds a Master's in transpersonal psychology, and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology. As a psychotherapist and writer, she is interested in emotional sobriety, holistic health, and authenticity. Since 2004, she has been working in diverse clinical settings including inpatient and outpatient dual-diagnosis treatment centers for alcoholics, addicts, and their families. Ingrid's expertise in addiction led her to conduct research on spiritual bypass (the use of spirituality to avoid dealing with one's reality or emotional experience) in 12-Step recovery. She is the author of Recovering Spirituality: Achieving Emotional Sobriety in Your Spiritual Practice (Hazelden, 2011) and her memoir, Believing Me: Healing from Narcissistic Abuse and Complex Trauma, which uncovers her personal experience of childhood trauma from a psychologist’s perspective. Even though Dr. Clayton has a clinical background, she feels there is no theory, diagnosis, or therapy that can replace the power of shared experience. S2 Episode 26: Trauma and Trauma Recovery with Bobbi Parish, Trauma Recovery Coach

Bobbi Parish is a Trauma Recovery Coach and one of the kindest human beings you'll ever meet! After enduring decades of trauma as both a child and adult, Bobbi struggled with depression, disability and homelessness – bouncing in and out of psychiatric wards seven different times. As she tried to get help within the mental health system she was labeled as a “difficult patient” because she didn’t improve in the retraumatizing non-trauma informed hospitals and clinics who treated her. After deciding to try to help trauma survivors more compassionately and with her lived experience, her graduate school program told her she had “no potential to contribute to the field” due to her mental health struggles. It took her two decades to shed that belief because it so accurately mirrored what her childhood abusers taught her. But in 2017 she founded The International Association of Trauma Recovery Coaching, which has trained more than 600 Trauma Recovery Coaches around the world, disrupting the Western mental health model’s current treatment of trauma survivors. Over the past five years Bobbi has written and developed five different coaching certification programs where more than 90% of the students entering the coursework are trauma survivors themselves. The Association has the only Code of Ethics, Safety Protocols and Supervision for Trauma Recovery Coaches worldwide. Bobbi also maintains a coaching practice using Internal Family Systems, Trauma Informed Stabilization and HeartMath in service of both individuals and couples with trauma histories.
