Leading with Authenticity with Sabrina Horn

Fake it until you make it. This may work to help you overcome some insecurities, public speaking, for example. However, if you fake it too long, whether this is your experience, next quarter’s numbers, etc., the truth will come out. Sabrina Horn tells Kevin that integrity is not optional. She is the author of Make it, Don’t Fake it – Leading with Authenticity for Real Business Success. She acknowledges it can be lonely at the top and even if you are making all the decisions, you don’t have to know it all. When you can admit what you don’t know or that you made a mistake, you level the playing field for your team and build a culture of trust and growth. In this episode, Sabrina discusses: The good and bad of faking it. Leadership authenticity. Leadership loneliness. Leadership self-care. This episode is brought to you by… From Manager to Remarkable Leader, Kevin’s Flagship workshop based on his proven leadership model. Do Your Traditions Feed You? - Thoughts from Kevin

When I think of the word tradition, I instantly think of the song “Tradition” in one of my favorite plays The Fiddler on the Roof. And while when we talk about traditions, we are often talking about them in the context of holidays or celebrations and the things we do to commemorate them, in the context of this video, I’m talking specifically about traditions at work. As many of us transition back to the workplace or adjust to a hybrid scenario or are looking at a completely unknown future, re-evaluating your traditions is a really useful exercise. In this episode, I’ll provide some questions to ask and some ideas to consider to help ensure that the traditions you are either returning to or are continuing to observe are useful and actually feed you. Are You Willing to Ask? - Thoughts from Kevin

Awhile back, I wrote a post on LinkedIn and had a blinding flash of the obvious. I asked a question at the end of the post and the post got more engagement and comments than ever before. I went back to see how often I ended with a question. And as I suspected, it wasn’t very often! This was a major lesson for me and I’m talking about it in the podcast episode because I think it’s an important lessons for all leaders as well. From This Episode: Learn more about the art of asking from this video. Jonathan is the author of Good Authority: How to Become the Leader Your Team Is Waiting For and joins Kevin to discuss the mindset shift leaders at all levels need to make. Opportunities Have Expiration Dates - Thoughts from Kevin

Opportunities have expiration dates. I saw this quote recently, and I wish I could remember who/where to attribute this quote to because I instantly loved it. There is a lot of truth in it. Let’s think about opportunity for a minute… Have you ever missed an opportunity because you were unaware of it? Have you ever missed an opportunity because you let it fall down your priority list? Have you ever missed an opportunity because you delayed, or were stuck in analysis paralysis? At least one is a yes.. guaranteed. While there are many opportunities that we know about, there are many that we don’t notice…because we aren’t looking. In this episode, I’m sharing two big ideas to help you take advantage of all of the opportunities that come your way. Tweet it out: Waiting has implications because opportunities have expiration dates. @KevinEikenberry From This Episode: Get a short, inspirational email tip every Monday – Friday by signing up for Kevin’s Daily Email here.

How Being Yourself Makes You a Better Leader with Minter Dial

Good leaders take away the “me” factor. Yet, before you successfully lead, you need to know who you are. Minter Dial suggests we take the time (and it takes time) to recognize our strengths, weaknesses, fears, and triggers. When you have this information, you can supplement yourself. Minter’s latest book is You Lead, How Being Yourself Makes You A Better Leader. He suggests that you cannot control how you are perceived, but you can control your awareness. When you show your whole self at work, you encourage your team they can be themselves leading to more trust and success.
