To take responsibility for what we do. To get up every day and look at things with eyes wide open. To care. This is how we approach things. This is the practice. To receive direct coaching from us and to explore our work further please visit: https://josephbartz.deDer einfache Weg um mehr Bewegung in dein Leben zu bringen:https://josephbartz.de/bewegung/This podcast is also available on the following platforms: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1qCn20TaI4BRK4EmugecIt?si=3ad4412091ac40edApple Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/de/podcast/lebenspraxis-life-practice/id1608524324?l=en

Focus and the importance of our environment

In this episode Joseph is introducing and commenting on passages of the book "Stolen Focus" by Johann Hari. Talking about focus and making changes is our daily life, we are mostly forgetting the influence of our environment on our daily life. Diet books as well as digital diet manuals are mostly completely ignoring the socio-cultural surrounding of the reader. As humans we are in constant interaction. We should have a look at it, to address the deeper causes of our problems and to create a sustainable change. To protect our focus, we have to communicate our ideas to the outside world and develop a certain standing. Further on Joseph takes a look at the phenomena of ADHD and children, inspired by Harris writing. ADHD is often treated badly and especially when children are diagnosed with it, there should be a closer look at their surrounding.  An impossibility to concentrate is often linked to a super active nervous system, which is scanning the environment out to a state of fear.  What could help to create an environment, which is encouraging children to learn and stay present in a super polluted world? What do we need as humans, to be able to get interested in something and tune into it?For full show notes and more information, please visit: https://josephbartz.de/youtube/podcast11.html

Practice and Family

Episode 10 - Practice and FamilyIn this episode, Joseph talks about the connection of family and practice. Having a family doesn't necessarily mean not having time for your own practice anymore. Being present in the life of his children is very important to him and taught him a lot about effectiveness and good organisation, but also not to be too much concerned about his own growth. It is a lot about connecting the parts of your life, instead of separating them. For full show notes and more information, please visit: https://josephbartz.de/youtube/podcast10.html

Being busy is not a virtue

Being busy and doing good and effective work are two completely different things. This is the subject of this episode of Lebenspraxis. Joseph questions the culture of hard-working and the positive attributes associated with it and brings up examples of why working more is not necessarily good. He also introduces the concept of Minimum Effective Dose (MED), explains why showing up is not enough, and claims that devoting time to effective work and to resting and digesting information are both essential to progress in any endeavor. The calm and focused practitioner

In this episode, Joseph reads the email from a listener and discusses how focus and calmness are related. He talks about patience as the courage to endure; being alert and the ancient state of hunting; and the jumping harlequin mind. Joseph also raises some questions that can be related to a focus and calmness practice: Where does the sense of urgency come from? What does it mean to be a calm grown-up? How to get in touch with the magic of things that are not available? For full show notes and more information, please visit: https://josephbartz.de/youtube/podcast5.html

What are the different parts of the Lebenspraxis?

What are the different parts of the Lebenspraxis? If you have been to any of our seminars, you probably got in touch with the physical aspect of our work. However, this is just one element of the Lebenspraxis, an example of something to be approached as a practice. In this episode, we will focus on the big picture. On practice as an approach to life in general. Life is not a thing that happens to us but a verb, something that we need to involve our whole being with. I will tell you why this is a good thing and how anything can be approached as a practice, meaning: it is not about what you do but how you do it. We will delve into what it means to live in reciprocity with the world around us and how caring is imperative to live a good life. I also share with you what my life vision is and how this sense of focus informs all aspects of my Lebenspraxis. Ideas to practice your focus

This podcast is a continuation of the second episode. Here I introduce the following 3 ideas to practice your focus: reading a book; listening to a whole music album without doing anything else; practicing SROMP. For each idea, I give suggestions on how to build up your focus ability slowly. I also talk about the importance of resting and how showing up is not enough if you are not sharp anymore. Other topics I approach in this episode are: the difference between using and training your focus; where strength training and focus training meet; the difference between boredom and fatigue of concentration; finding a balance between controlling and following impulses and how this can also apply to your calendar.
