Episode 608: How The Unconscious Heals Trauma with Dr. Melanie Salmon
Melanie Salmon is a medical doctor, gestalt psychotherapist, trauma specialist and teacher, and she’s committed her life to the exploration and practice of healing.During her 40-years in medicine, Melanie became increasingly frustrated with the limited ability for pharmaceutical drugs to treat the cause of health issues including psycho-emotional conditions in her patients. To Melanie, it became clear that these problems were related to a dysfunctional nervous system caused by unresolved and unhealed trauma. This understanding led her to leave medicine to seek out a better way.In 2008 she found it. Combining the best from many modalities including Gestalt psychotherapy, neuroscience, and epigenetics – drawing inspiration from both the traditional and modern – Dr Salmon created Quantum Energy Coaching (QEC), revolutionizing the way we approach healing. A simple, yet profoundly effective method that works with the subconscious mind, QEC is a clinically usable tool that heals the effects of past trauma and changes limiting beliefs rapidly and safely. In This EpisodeDr. Salmon’s websiteBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-trauma-therapist--5739761/support.

In the early days he used muscle testing, flower remedies and guidance from the spirit world to support people wanting better health.Over the first 15 years of his practice, he observed that some people got better but many people were not getting much better at all.For 25 years he searched for the roots of suffering and disease. Over those years he studied Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, energy healing, among other modalities, and he explored and practiced a multitude of spiritual paths7 years ago, he became a Relational Somatic Therapist through Mariah Moser's Relational Somatic Therapy course, Opening to Grace, and between that and parenting, he is thrilled to claim that he has found the Holy Grail of healing. Most of what he practices and teaches he did not learn through school, rather, he learned it through sitting with people, in the trenches for 25 years, not knowing what he was doing, but sitting there with an earnest desire to get to the bottom of it!Now he trains therapists, facilitates retreats, and has a thriving private practice in Kaslo BC.In This EpisodeHold on to your kids, Gabor MateSharon Stanley’s bookSasha’s Physiology of Trauma classBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-trauma-therapist--5739761/support.
