Lies My Doctor Told Me, Diabetes and the Ketogenic Diet, Thinking Outside The Medical Box – Dr. Ken Berry KKP 006

Today, I am lucky to have here with me a profound and highly-driven keto advocate from the medical field, Dr. Ken Berry. Although his practice is not yet warmly accepted in our society today, he is firm on his stand when it comes to the ketogenic diet. Dr. Berry is the first physician in the family. It was always his childhood dream. At the age of 13, he started having severe migraines and thought he would not be fit for a medical doctor’s lifestyle. However, his condition got better during his college days and hoped that he could finally fulfill his dream. He was determined to change his way of eating when he was obese and became prediabetec at the age of 35. He knew his stressful lifestyle coupled with unhealthy eating habits contributed to his condition. Dr. Berry was further challenged to make a change in order to help his critically ill patients. His goal is to spread the truth about the ketogenic diet. Dr. Berry had already published a book entitled, “Lies My Doctor Told Me” and is increasing his reach with the help of social media channels. In this episode, Dr. Berry and I talked about ketogenic diet, type 2 diabetes, the 3 pillars of health and nutrition, exercise and more. He shared his journey with living his best life starting with the paleo diet then transitioning to low-carb diet and finally the ketogenic diet. He also shed some light as to why ketogenic diet doesn’t work for other people. Moreover, tips and strategies were shared on how to get the most out of the keto diet. Tune in! [07:56] The 3 Pillars of Health and Nutrition He want back to dig up his medical books and lecture notes to refresh his knowledge on his nutrition training. After reading up on the materials that he was able to retrieve, he was reminded that the foundation of health is knowledge and understanding of human nutrition.  The 3 Pillars of Health and Nutrition:  1. Eat lots of whole grain 2. Don’t eat any saturated fat. 3. Jog. [09:32] The Unexpected Weight Gain He has an exceptional training background when it comes to parenteral nutrition. However, he admits that, when it comes to feeding a healthy human being in a disease-preventive way, he was clueless. Dr. Berry guided himself with the 3 pillars and applied it in his daily life.  Despite his consistent hard work for 2 months, he still gained 5-10 pounds. [10:25] Thinking Outside The Medical Doctor Box  Read different works on nutrition: Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution by Robert Atkins The Paleo Diet by Loren Cordain The Primal Blueprint by Mark Sisson He tried this new knowledge on himself starting with paleo and transitioned to a low-carb diet which got him better but still far from his health goal. Immediately felt better, lost weight, decreased inflammation. He then finally tried ketogenic diet and after 2 months he thought to offer it to his morbidly obese patients, many of which are scheduled for a gastric bypass which is a risky procedure. His patients started noticing his transformation and were curious about what he was doing. He finally recommended the ketogenic diet to his patients with the worst case of morbid obesity and they all started getting better. [12:43] Dr. Berry’s Patients on Keto Diet He monitors his patients closely since the diet was presumed to be dangerous. After 1 month, his patients would come back asking if they could do it for a longer period of time. They loved the diet and was very happy with the results Many patients, who cancelled their bariatric surgery, were coming to him because they wanted to lose fat naturally. He was very glad he found a tool that could help many others when the only option most of them had before was a bariatric surgery. He only recommended it to his sickest patients [16:28] Type 2 Diabetes and the Ketogenic Diet Type 2 Diabetes is not a disease. It is one of the many ways how poison in your diet can manifest itself. Poisons:  Sugar Grains Industrial seed oils Removing these poisons from the diet results to type 2 diabetes going away. [18:42] Truth about EBM: Evidence-Based Medicine or Eminence-Based Diet American Diabetes Association (ADA) claims their diet recommendation is based on zero research and it’s based on expert consensus. Dr. Berry, on the other hand, believes in true evidence based medicine (EBM) but oftentimes, no meaningful research is done on a topic which makes EBM mean something else, “Eminence Based Diet” Leading authorities in the medical field decide what is considered EBM as standard of care and there are many instances in history wherein these EBM, such as lobotomy and provision of Valium to premenopausal women, have been further proven to be dangerous and ineffective. [22:10] What Led Him to His Life Mission Dr. Berry knew he was called to reverse type 2 diabetes and obesity. His wife, Neisha, an active social media user, asked him, “How many patients do you help a day in the clinic?” and “How many patients can you help on social media?”. He had no social media presence back then other than Facebook. His wife’s question made him realize he had a big goal social media can give him a bigger platform. Dr. Berry started with creating a YouTube channel and other social media accounts [26:28] Elevated A1C VS. Elevated LDL “An elevated A1C is a shotgun pointed at your heart and an elevated LDL might be a BB gun pointed at your arm”. After reading more research on LDL, Dr. Berry says it is not a risk factor.  Elevated cholesterol and elevated LDL does not increase your risk of heart attack or stroke. This elevation may be caused by an inflammation in your body and it is it’s attempt of  filling in the damage done in your arteries. Your body naturally makes cholesterol. Even the brain has its own cholesterol manufacturing process. An elevated A1C, elevated triglyceride level, and a low HDL level are more important markers than an elevated LDL. Doctors who are concerned with elevated cholesterol are already 10 years behind on their readings while doctors who are alarmed by elevated LDL are 3-5 years behind. American Heart Association’s (AHA/ACC) cardiac risk calculator does not factor in the LDL level but uses triglyceride and HDL levels. [32:33] Recommendation for the Use of Statins Recommendation for the use of statins will lower LDL level but will not positively influence your 10-year cardiac risk. The medical community continues to promote the use of statins because their paradigm has not yet shifted. Some medical practitioners are gaining awareness when it comes to this issue Many doctors are still relying on recommendations given by the AHA. However, big companies and corporations heavily influence the information distributed by the association We are slowly killing ourselves by taking harmful medication [36:05] Social Media is the Key Dr. Berry intends to use of social media to help spread the word and tell people to stop poisoning themselves. People are dying everyday because of belief on a false paradigm. Social media helps him educate and tell people to stop comiting suicide and stop letting your doctors commit homicide. Being loud and obnoxious about the information will help prevent unnecessary deaths. [37:59] The Story of Dr. Simon Weiss The quote: “The way you judge someone’s stature in the medical community is the length of their white coat” and a story on Dr. Simon Weiss which illustrates Dr. Ken Berry’s advocacy Back then doctors were seen as gentlemen and it was a common assumption that gentlemen are never dirty.  Mortality rate of women and children were high because of the childbirth fever caused by unsanitary practices of doctors. Dr. Weiss observed that in poorer areas where midwives facilitated child birth instead of doctors and women and children were not affected by childbirth fever because midwives do not handle dissections in the morgue. Dr. Weiss published his research but because of his short coat, he was not taken seriously by other doctors. The unsanitary practice went on for 70-80 years before another doctor discovered Dr. Weiss’ research and shed light unto it. It took another decade before more doctors caught on to the proper practice of handwashing. With this, Dr. Ken Berry stands firm with his belief on the ketogenic diet and is willing to take the risk that comes with it so that people can know the truth. [43:20] Overcoming the Powdered Butt Syndrome Powdered Butt Syndrome is when people, for example your senior, don’t take you seriously no matter what you say or evidence you show. A third party source may be helpful with conveying the information to your family and friends which is what many people do.  As with Dr. Berry, his videos takes a big part in encouraging people to listen and understand the truth about the ketogenic diet. [45:42] Why Ketogenic is Not Working for Other People? After enthusiastically getting in to keto, some people slack off and allow gradually themselves more and more carb loaded food items. This reduces fat loss and increases inflammation. People should have a friend, coach, that can re-check their diet Document what you’re eating and consult someone with knowledgeable on keto to figure out what you’re doing or eating wrong. Don’t easily trust and simply rely on what big food names claim when it comes to being healthy because there are loopholes they go through to make their products seem healthy enough. Big food corporations only care about making a profit and will do all things just to cut down on cost. [49:22] Dining in Restaurants Don’t be afraid to let restaurants know of the ingredients and food items that you’re avoiding in a keto diet.   Tip: Have a laminated small laminated information card stating that “I’m allergic to sugar in all forms, all grains, and the following oils. Please do not include it in my meals”.   As more people do this, big chain restaurants can go bankrupt or they can evolve to meet people’s need for real and safe human food. Be willing to go the extra penny for quality food. Accepting bad food because it’s cheap is as good as voting for it.   [51:53] PEO (Parent Essential Oils) Solution by Dr. Brian Peskin PEO Solution: Conquering Cancer, Diabetes and Heart Disease with Parent Essential Oils is the collaborative effort of Dr. Brian S. Peskin and Dr. Robert Jay Rowen.  Their combined insights will give you state-of-the-art science with new tools to easily become and remain lean-for-life, energized, and disease-free.    [52:19] Fat in a Cellular Level Every cell has a membrane and this membrane uses fat as integral part. Eating high fat food gives your body sufficient building blocks for building healthy cell membranes.   [52:50] Restaurants and Their Oil Use Study shows a plate of french fries cooked in canola oil resulted to 132 days of membrane inflammation. Restaurants use cooking oils, such as canola and soybean oil,  that easily oxidize and they don’t always change their cooking oils to cut down cost.  These oils become deadlier as they get reused and get absorbed by the food you eat.   [53:44] Consuming Healthy Oils As people develop healthier cell membranes, they can stay longer in the sun because they are now more able to form melanin.  This prevents them from easily getting sun burnt and help them develop a tan instead. Even cells of other organs have cell membranes and they also need fat to form and function well. Food habit of consuming industrial seed and vegetable oil will contribute to the activation of bad genes.   [55:16] Shopping for the Right Food Products Always read labels and check the ingredients of what you’re buying. If you’re not familiar with a word, search online what it is. “Generally Regarded As Safe” only means it won’t kill you quickly.   [56:42] Exercise and Weight Loss “Exercise is a terrible approach to weight loss. If you’re goal is to lose weight, joining the gym is a waste of time and money.” Meaningful research show that exercising and moving more is a terrible strategy to lose fat.  If you want to lose excess fat, change your diet.   [58:00] Experts (PhDs, Scientists, Dietitians, Nutritionists, and Doctors) on Keto as a Fad Diet Most of today’s experts have the same thinking with doctors back in Dr. Weiss’ time who did not believe that handwashing was essential. They have a hard time accepting the truth or admitting that they are wrong. One of the many reasons may be losing part of their (online) following. Some may be afraid of losing they research support and funding. It is ignorance to think it’s possible to calculate one’s specific caloric needs through weight, height, and gender. Big corporations pay experts like them to convince the consumer that it’s alright to consume bad food items because they packed in small containers. Beware of people who promote “Eat more, move less”.   [01:02:55] Patients Who Found Success in Keto The healthiest patients with the least chronic diseases are the ones who consume food products with the least amount of prohibited ingredients on the label. Eldest patient who passed away at 102 was in very good health, with an alert mind and a strong body. Majority of diet was made of vegetables and meat. Babies or kids who are fed by their parents with real whole foods did not develop eczema, allergies, and even acne. They consume one-ingredient food.   [01:05:33] What Dr. Berry Is Most Excited About We’re close to the tipping point of having the low-carb keto carnivore diet as a norm now more than how where we were back in the 70s or 80s. Nurse Jackie Eberstein, who worked closely with Dr. Robert Atkins, is continuing to raise awareness about the Low-Carb Ketogenic Diet. Know more here. Perfect health, for him, is being strong enough to enjoy and  play together with his great grand kids. Plant Based Keto Foods That Detoxify The Body, Negative Health Effects of The Vegan Diet – Ben Azadi: KKP 005

In this episode, we’ll talk about the vegetarian and ketogenic diet, Dr. Will Cole’s book, Ketotarian, plant based foods that help detoxify, and so much more. Here is an overview of this episode: Plant based foods ketogenic foods that help detoxify the body The negative health effects of a longterm vegan diet Why the conventional medical system is rigged And so much more  Get my FREE Keto Kickstart Guide: www.ketokickstartguide.com    YouTube Channel: www.youtube.com/ketokamp    [3:03] My story with vegetarian and ketogenic diet. I was a strict vegan for a year and a half about 6 years ago. I got really good results from being vegan. I felt better. My skin and sleep are better as well as my workout. During the 4th or 5th month, I hit the vegan wall. I felt really sore. Hormones got wonky. My sex drive was diminishing. My skin was getting skin issues. I studied Paul Chek, one of the considerable godfathers of holistic health, and learned about the dangers of the vegan diet. Blood works were done and I decided to explore the ketogenic diet. After a considerable amount of time on ketogenic diet, my health, in general, was good again.   [6:10] Vegan diet is great. However, there are a lot of issues in the long run. From the book Vegetarianism Explained: Making an Informed Decision by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride: If you look at every corner of the planet, healthy indigenous people eat a mixture of plants and animal foods. It is the animal food that was actually the most valued. The human digestive system in its structure is similar to the gut of predatory animals. We have 1 stomach without microbes in it. Our human stomach is decide to produce acids and pepsin which breaks down meat, fish, and yolks in eggs. Best building blocks to feed our cellular regeneration process comes from high quality animal foods. The brain is a fatty organ. In fact, it is composed of 60% fat and it requires fat and protein. If we are not getting that from high quality animal foods, we are actually starving our brain. [7:48] Going vegan for a short period of time is a good idea As we learned from Keto Kamp Podcast Episode 1 with Dr. Pompa regarding hormone optimization and diet variation, the real purpose of plants are cleansers. Vegan diet is good and helpful in keeping our inside bodies clean. Cleaner body is always better than a toxic one. When the body was finished cleansing, you have to start feeding it with animal food. If not, the body will starve and deteriorate. Vegan diet should be seen as a form of fasting. They do not feed the body properly.   [9:00] Ketotarian, Dr. Cole’s book Ketogenic diet is a great diet because it marries the best of low-carb diet and the plant-based way being while avoiding the common pitfalls with both diets. “The ketotarian way of eating brings together healthy plant-based fat, clean protein and rich, vibrant colors of nutrient-dense vegetables.” Green leafy vegetables go hand-in-hand with ketosis. If you are a vegan, take in some algae-based omega 3s and eggs.   [11:02] Ways to detox the body Some of the powerful antioxidants are sea vegetables like chlorella, herbs, parsley and cilantro. Onion, broccoli, mushrooms, cabbage, cauliflower are all great in supporting detox pathways. Cole’s book, The Inflammation Spectrum, will help you discover how inflammation is at the core of most common health woes. Join my Keto Kamp Inner Circle to get my Vegan-Keto Meal Plan.   [13:21] Rigged System of the Conventional Medicine The problem with most conventional doctors is that they’ve been trained with so masterfully to diagnose disease and match it to a dedication. As Dr. Cole previously said, “You wouldn’t go to your mechanic to ask for a gardening advice. You wouldn’t go to your doctor and ask them for nutrition advice. They are just not trained on that and it is the sad truth.” If you have a doctor or a medical practitioner who’s asking you basic questions and not digging into your history, consider that a red flag. If your doctor doesn’t listen to you, find another doctor. Ketotarian, Calming Inflammation, Why Conventional Medicine Fails – Dr. Will Cole: KKP 003

In this episode, I interview top functional medicine practitioner Dr. Will Cole.  He is the author of Ketotarian® and was named one of the top 50 functional-medicine and integrative doctors in the nation and is a health expert and course instructor for the world’s largest wellness brands such as Mindbodygreen and Goop. In this episode, Dr. Cole talks about: Functional medicine and emphasizes the importance of our relationship with our body and food He shares a few powerful messages. One of which is “You cannot heal a body you hate.” We talked about transitioning from vegetarian to ketotarian, Why conventional medicine has failed us And much more Learn more about Dr. Will Cole here https://drwillcole.com/   [0:35] Dr. Cole’s interesting childhood  He grew up outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and he lived his childhood a little bit different than most kids. He grew up eating organic foods and drinking Adaptogenic Tonics which are not normal during the 80s and 90s.  He learned and understand food and developed his relationship with health and wellness at a very young age.  When he was 16 years old, Dr. Cole already knew he wanted to get into wellness in some way. At Southern California University of Health Sciences, he started focusing on functional medicine.    [4:08] Practicing virtual functional medicine Hundred percent (100%) of Dr. Cole’s patients/clients are online.  Dr. Will Cole together with his team consult world wide in Autoimmune, Brain, Gut, Hormone, and Thyroid health.  It is convenient for people who may not have access to a nearby functional medicine doctor.   [5:54] What is it like living in Dr. Cole’s household? Dr. Cole and his wife have 2 wonderful kids, a son and a daughter. One cool thing about being a functional medicine practitioner who gets invited into workshops or seminars is him being able to bring his family and give them front row seats for his talks.  His son is very much into the concept of helping people.  Of his two kids, his son will most likely be into the health and wellness field as well.  On eating healthy foods: Dr. Cole shifts his kids’ mindset into eating healthy foods.  He would normally say to them “Look at the healthy food we get to eat and feel great as a result of it.” Loving your body enough to feed it well: For adults, little boys and little girls, it is very important to have a healthy relationship with food. See you child as an individual and observe how they receive information. Make their foods age-appropriate as well. Foods you eat impact your hormonal levels. It’s not about punishing your body by not having all the good stuff. It’s really about focusing on all the good stuff and the grace that we get from feeding our body good things.    [10:45] Why is it important to get a comprehensive health history of patients? Most of Dr. Cole’s patients have seen previous doctors before they consult with him.  His job as a functional medicine practitioner is to find out what’s been missed out on his clients pile of laboratory reports. Thorough medical history is not respected enough even though it gives a lot of information.  If you have a doctor or a medical practitioner who’s asking you basic questions and not digging into your history, consider that a red flag.   [14:36] Rigged system: Experiencing symptoms but not sick enough to be diagnosed The system is broken and it is distracted on things that are not the most effective but with the least amount of side effects.  The system is largely trained to diagnose a disease and match it with a medication.  Main options of people with autoimmune issues are steroids, immuno-suppresants and biological drugs.  They don’t put everybody on this medication but when it gets bad enough, they basically punish and suppress the immune system down.  These problems don’t happen overnight. By the time it gets to the point where they want to put you on these medications, that’s an average of 10 years prior to the diagnosis.  All chronic problems are called chronic for a reason. They don’t happen overnight.  Dr. Cole’s book, The Inflammation Spectrum, will help you discover how inflammation is at the core of most common health woes. Some people have been sick for so long. They will never be 100% better. But, we have to get them the best they can be and live the best life they can live. That’s a better alternative than taking a medication for the rest of your life. Functional medicine is revolutionary. Today, conventionally trained hospitals are now providing functional medicine clinics.  We have to do different to see something different.   [19:34] Dr. Cole was a vegetarian for 10 years until his health starts declining Just because something is better doesn’t mean it’s optimal long-term.  Dr. Cole transitioned into being vegetarian to being a ketotarian.   [21:22] Exercise and Eating Healthy Food and exercise are both important. They are two sides of the same coin.  Food is such a powerful driver. It is primary and exercise is icing on the cake. The ratio between food and exercise looks different for different people. Dr. Cole loves his Peleton bike but he also do yoga and gym circuits.    [25:36] The problem with Orthorexia, the obsessive behavior in pursuit of a healthy diet Orthorexia starts with good intentions but ends with health problems.  We have to untangle that stress and obsession and start healing the person physically but also heal the person’s relationship with food.    [27:15] A peek on Ketotarian, Dr. Cole’s book Ketotarian: A ketogenic plant-based rockstar  The ketogenic diet kick-starts your body's metabolism so it burns fat, instead of sugar, as its primary fuel. Burning sugar vs. Burning fat: Sugar burning diet is basically the standard American diet.  Little metabolic flexibility Fat burning diet regain your metabolic flexibility. Creates food freedom Tames inflammation and cravings Achieves peak physical and mental performance Statistics: Nearly 20% of all adults have a diagnosable mental disorder. 81% of Americans take atleast 1 medication per day. Out of 68 children, there is 1 diagnosed as autistic. The United States spends more on healthcare than the next top 10 spending countries combined but ranks last on living a long and healthy life.    [33:37] Research has shown, over 90% of our longevity is determined by the choices we make, not our genetics Genetics is a piece of the puzzle but it’s not the biggest piece. Majority of health problems we see today are largely influenced by epigenetics.  Know that you have control over your destiny. It’s not your DNA that determines your destiny.    [35:55] Huge misconceptions about conventional doctors and nutritional advice  Research has shown that most doctors would fail a basic nutrition test.  Conventional medical doctors should be trained in the nutritional aspect because most of their patients have problems largely influenced by lifestyle. Most conventional doctors nowadays engage in learning activities about functional medicine where they are learning things they didn’t learn at medical school.   [40:40] Eliminating Inflammation with a Personalized Ketogenic Diet  The Inflammation Spectrum: Functional medicine lifestyle guide to start finding out which foods work best for your body In this book, Dr. Cole eloquently explains the root cause of health problems and offers a fun, innovative plan to begin lowering inflammation and reclaiming optimal wellness. The book will be released on October 2019. Pre-order The Inflammation Spectrum here. [43:20] Love and Gratitude: Two of the biggest healers in our world You cannot heal a body you hate.  If you get your head, heart and your relationship with food and your body right, that will create in infrastructure for sustainable wellness. It will also lower your stress levels. It will create a healing environment. It’s not just about food and movement. It’s also your mental, emotional and spiritual health.  Mental health is physical health.    AND MUCH MORE!   Resources from this episode:  Visit Dr. Will Cole’s Website   Ketotarian® by Dr. Will Cole   Pre-order The Inflammation Spectrum: Find Your Food Triggers and Reset Your System by Dr. Will Cole The goop Podcast on Apple Podcasts Keto Talk Podcast With Jimmy Moore & Dr. Will Cole Learn more about Dr. Datis Kharrazian, one of the big names in functional medicine Upcoming Events: A University of Miami Event at The Sacred Space  Ketotarian: The Exciting Science and Application of a Plant Based Ketogenic Diet (November 15, 2019) Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus Miami Book Fair (November 15, 2019) Some relevant articles by Dr. Cole: What Does A Functional Medicine Program Look Like? 3 Biggest Causes of Inflammation, How to Test for Max Autophagy – Ben Azadi: KKP 002

In this episode, I am breaking down the top reasons why you might be struggling with the Keto Diet and intermittent fasting, and provide you with solutions to maximize your results. I will be relaying the information Dr. Daniel Pompa shared in Episode 1, and go deeper into each important detail. If you are currently on a ketogenic diet or you are planning to be on one, this episode is definitely for you! Don’t miss out on the fun! In this episode you will learn: - The 3 biggest sources of inflammation, leading to poor keto and fasting results - What to do if you have silver amalgam fillings - What is maximum autophagy, and how to achieve it by looking and glucose/ketone measurements - Why most detoxes fail - What to do if you've been exposed to heavy metals - And so much more Learn more at www.youtube.com/ketokamp Get my free keto kickstart guide www.ketokickstartguide.com  [1:56] Environmental toxins are everywhere. There are three (3) environmental toxins currently affecting four (4) generations and they are leading to an explosion of chronic diseases and obesity: Lead Mercury Glyphosate A study was done by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) where they examined blood of newborn babies. Newborn babies began life exposed to 287 of 413 toxic chemicals and 180 of those toxins were found to cause cancer.  Cancer rates in children have risen to 61.7% since 1950. According to Colombia University of School of Public Health, 95% of cancer is caused by diet and environment.   [3:05] Silver Fillings which are also called Amalgam Fillings contain 50% mercury Mercury is a major toxin and it creates cellular inflammation. Our mouths are very acidic. Silver fillings (in our mouth) vaporize and go into our brain which then bioaccumulates into the hypothalamus pituitary as inorganic mercury. When boxes of silver fillings are delivered into clinics, it is classified as a poison. Once they were put in your mouth, they are declassified as poisons. Tests showed mercury is not in patients blood. However, these are wrong tests to take as mercury is stored in the brain and not in our blood. You need to get a biopsy of the brain. As Dr. Pompa shared in the previous episode, silver fillings in his mouth almost took his life. He underwent the right process of removing the fillings and eventually got his life back. If you have silver fillings in your mouth and want it removed, make sure it is done right by the right dentist. A good place to find a safe dentist is at IAOMT: The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology   [6:45] Detox downstream analogy The analogy:  If you’re downstream trying to fix the river and get fish to repopulate the stream of the river, while upstream, they’re still dumping mercury or lead into the river, you’re never ever going to get the fish to take population again.  You’ll never going to take care of the problem when you go downstream. Treatment at the cellular level or upstream is the ultimate solution.   [7:53] Studies about mercury  One study found out that the more amalgam fillings present in your mouth, the more mercury you will have in your organs including the brain, heart, kidney and liver. Study after study, it shows the link between the fillings and mercury found in the body. Another study showed that mercury is linked to high amounts of visceral fat and obesity. A study done by the Diabetes and Metabolism Journal showed an association between blood mercury levels and visceral adiposity in adults. Studies have shown that the number of silver fillings you have in your mouth is proportional to the number of mercury they find in your brain on autopsies.   [9:07] What is cellular inflammation? Cellular inflammation does not pertain to sore shoulders, ankle, and others. When your cells are inflamed, receptor sites that your hormones communicate to are not heard. We need to remove the stressors and toxins that create inflammation at a cellular level. If it can't get to the cell, you are not gonna feel well. [10:47] For 20 years, I had 8 silver fillings  Last year, I had them removed the right way. I am currently running a detox on myself for the last 6 months and I feel the best I’ve felt in a very long time. I encourage you to do a little research. If this is intriguing to you and you want to dive deep about it, feel free to contact me at ben@ketokamp.com.   [11:34] Common symptoms of mercury poisoning Studies have shown that chronic Hg exposure from various sources including dental amalgams is associated with numerous health complaints, including fatigue, anxiety, and depression Elemental mercury toxicity (which usually occurs in the vaporized form) can cause: mood swings, nervousness, irritability, and other emotional changes, insomnia, headache, abnormal sensations, muscle twitching, tremors, weakness, muscle atrophy, and decreased cognitive functions. [12:12] Are you safe from mercury poisoning? Did you ever get a flu shot? If you answer is yes, here are interesting things you need to know. According to Hugh Fudenberg, MD, world's leading immunogeneticist, “If an individual has had five consecutive flu shots between 1970 and 1980, chances of getting alzheimer’s disease is ten times higher than if they had one, two or no shots due to the mercury and aluminum buildup in the brain.”    [13:30] Lead affects 4 generations in 2 ways. Lead is inherited from the mother to the baby and it is passed down to 4 generations. Scientists already have documented that low levels of lead can reduce children’s IQs and cause other neurological effects. But the new study is one of few to find that babies in the womb also could be affected, especially if exposed during the first trimester. Lead turns on bad genes associated with many diseases, even obesity. Results of the study entitled “A longitudinal study of chronic lead exposure and physical growth in Boston children” suggest that chronic lead exposure in childhood may result in obesity that persists into adulthood. Exposure to lead during early development can alter the the gut microbiota, increasing the chances for obesity in adulthood, research has found. Across the United States, drinking water (tap) is tainted with lead. Do not drink tap water. Have a shower filter.   [16:57] Glyphosate makes everything worse. Glyphosate makes aluminum, mercury, and lead more toxic. Children with the autism diagnosis are especially vulnerable to toxic metals such as aluminum and mercury due to insufficient serum sulfate and glutathione.    [18:00] We are born with a set of genes and we cannot change that. However, we can control the expression of those genes. Dr. Bruce Lipton, author of The Biology of Belief: Unleashing the Power of Consciousness, Matter, and Miracles believes that more than 95% of our genes are expressed through our decisions and choices. Less than 5% of disease is genetically-related.   [19:35] Dr. Pompa’s The 180 Degree Solution I call this the “George Costanza Effect” George Louis Costanza was one of the four main characters on Seinfeld Watch what the mainstream media and the government say and do the opposite.    [20:54] Fasting and Autophagy: A Powerful Combination Fasting: A client of Dr. Pompa fasted for 26.5 days and her tumor’s size declined significantly. Fasting is a very powerful way to prevent cancer and heal yourself. Cancer as a Metabolic Disease, a book by Thomas Seyfried advice to do a 7 to 10 day fast once a year in order to try to kill any cancerous or precancerous cells one may be hosting When are not fasting, that’s how cancer is created. We let cancer cells duplicate. Autophagy: A way of our body to clean up cellular junk. The body’s process of recycling its own damaged cells and tissue into usable energy during times when food is not present or new cells to heal the body. Achieve maximum autophagy when you block fast.   [24:24] Test your glucose and ketone  Test your glucose and make sure that it is in a 1:1 ratio with your ketones. Dry Fasting for Cancer, 4 Supplements to Stop Taking, The Dangers of Silver Fillings – Dr. Daniel Pompa: KKP 001

This first episode is very special to me as I am joined by my coach, mentor and friend, Doctor Daniel Pompa. Not only is Dr. Pompa my coach and mentor; he is the world leader in cellular detox. Having battled and emerged victorious over a debilitating battle with chronic fatigue syndrome, Dr. Dan Pompa, PSc.D, has embraced his God-given mission to assist others who face similar challenges. Dr. Pompa earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Life University’s College of Chiropractic in Marietta, Georgia in 1995 where he graduated second in a class of 150. His journey back to health continued to lead him to a voracious passion to research and learning beyond what is often readily understood. Dr. Pompa has established his coaching and teaching on a firm and proven conviction that the crisis of modern-day allopathic medicine is the sad result of physicians chasing symptoms with medication rather than addressing the root cause of disease. In this episode, Dr. Dan Pompa shares his personal story of mercury poisoning and how he converted his pain to purpose. Listen and learn all about Dr. Dan’s expertise which includes fasting, autophagy, diet and more! This episode is jam-packed with information so you definitely don’t want to miss this one!  We cover many facets of the fasting and toxicity that are contributing to disease, and Dr. Pompa gives it to us straight: There's 3 big stressors contributing to disease in our society. You cannot get well until you address this.  Antibiotics are killing more people than they are helping. The 3 supplements he has all of his new patients stop taking immediately. With a bonus 4th supplement.  The amazing tumor shrinking benefits of fasting, and details on dry fasting vs water fasting. Listen in on this informative discussion about why so many people don't feel good even though their blood work looks "normal". Enjoy the show!   [0:33] Growing up ‘Pompa’: A Different American Household While Dr. Pompa did have vaccine shots, he never had any antibiotics. His bricklayer and home doctor father always doctor him - bandaging him up, sterilizing his wounds and stitching his wounds. Dr. Pompa’s father was in the military during World War II and during that time, they doctor themselves. For Dr. Pompa, there is a time and place for antibiotics. One of those instances is when his son, Simon, got bone infection.    [3:33] The problem with taking too much antibiotics Antibiotics wipes out microbiomes which is 70-80% of your immune system and it creates immune problems later.  After World War II, we all though antibiotic is our savior but we’ve learned a lot this past few decades. Antibiotics created more disease than the number of lives it saved.  People get slapped with antibiotics when they have pneumonia or sinus infections. Antibiotics cannot fight viral infections. Because of this, a lot of superbugs and resistant bacteria that are now killing people.    [5:21] Dr. Dan’s journey to becoming a health practitioner Dr. Dan loves the book Doctor Dan, the Bandage Man Being a pre-dental college student and a wrestler: His interest was always health Cutting weight/calories didn’t make sense to him  Reading fitness magazines and muscle and fitness: How to keep your muscle and be as lean as possible Cutting calories don’t work. You lose strength. In Ocean City Maryland, Dr. Pompa ran a marketing sales crew and they all ended up on the Pompa Diet    [10:30] Life as Dr. Pompa knows it came into a screeching haul As a chiropractor and a cyclist, Dr. Pompa was in a great shape until he got sick. From fatigue and anxiety, he had insomnia, panic attacks and he got allergic to everything he was eating. He can’t even watch a movie.  He became irritable, angry, or simply someone he didn’t know. In 2005, he started getting his life back. He and his wife grew their family. They adopted two kids who lost their parents tragically and they had another son.   [14:42] Dr. Dan Pompa continues his personal story of mercury poisoning Searching the internet and reading literature, he came up with him having Mad Hatter Disease. However, blood test results came back negative.  A very bright endocrinologist advised him to do another test, one that is based on tissues not blood, and found out he has mercury poisoning. Chronic mercury poisoning from Amalgam Fillings: from Pain to Purpose Silver fillings in amalgam fillings contain 50% mercury The golf crown creates an electrical current with the silver fillings and made the mercury flow out of the fillings Studies have shown that the number of silver fillings you have in your mouth is proportional to the number of mercury they find in your brain on autopsies. Mercury accumulates in the brain through time, particularly in hypothalamus pituitary which controls your thyroid and your adrenals.  Dr. Pompa had to get the mercury out of his brain safely and correctly to ultimately get his life back   [20:44] Detox downstream analogy The analogy:  If you’re downstream trying to fix the river and get fish to repopulate the stream of the river, while upstream, they’re still dumping mercury or lead into the river, you’re never ever going to get the fish to take population again.  All of those detoxes are too far downstream to what the real problem is. Metals, mold and hidden infections are the top three big ones that people miss upstream.  Detox at the cellular level is the ultimate solution.   [23:56] Why are dentists still doing root canals and still put silver fillings in people’s mouths? There was a documentary called Root Cause featuring opinions from doctors and dentists from around the world on the health effects of the root canal procedure. The American Dental Association (ADA) urged Netflix, Amazon and other companies to remove Root Cause, which they believed is a documentary spreading misinformation.  A hundred percent (100%) of root canals is infected yet dentists are still doing them because it is the cash cow of dentistry. There’s a growing group of dentists called Biological Dentists who are not doing root canals anymore. A good place to find a safe dentist is at IAOMT: The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology These dentists know how to take fillings out correctly. If you had them out, the mercury vapor turns into inorganic mercury in your brain where it is locked for life, unless you do the right detox.   [27:42] The 180 Degree Solution Watch what the media says and do the opposite.    [28:20] Fasting and Autophagy: A Powerful Combination Fasting Beyond Fasting, Dr. Pompa’s new book. Available for pre-order at beyondfastingbook.com He started learning about fasting in the 90s. A client of Dr. Pompa fasted for 26.5 days and her tumor’s size declined significantly  Autophagy The body’s process of recycling its own damaged tissue into usable energy during times when food is not present. Fasting and ketosis shrink tumors via autophagy Fasting and Autophagy Partial fasting involves eating 500-1000 calories, keeping protein under a certain amount, and gives autophagy. Dry fasting gives 3x autophagy.  A 24-hour hard dry fast is equal to 3 days water fasting in terms of autophagy    [39:24] A peek on Beyond Fasting, Dr. Pompa’s new book Diet variation is one of the quickest ways to lose weight. When we vary our diet, the hormonal shifts for adaptation re-establish and trigger the body’s ability to burn fat for energy. Healthy bodies thrive when forced to adapt both physically and mentally. The key is to get your cells hear the hormones better. Toxins block hormone receptors.  The key is in the variation.   [43:36] The problem with staying in Ketosis for too long Staying in any diet for too long literally creates problems with your microbiome because you are not forcing adaptation.   [45:20] Three supplements that people are usually on and have to immediately take off Probiotic People stay on the same probiotic all the time. Taking one probiotic that has 7 bacteria in it, you end up too many of those. Multi-vitamin Multi-vitamins are typically in inactive forms and can create more stress on the liver Vitamin D Most people taking vitamin D doesn’t have balance of the other fat-soluble (Vitamin A, E, and K) which leads to functional deficiencies.    AND MUCH MORE!   Resources from this episode:  Visit Dr. Pompa’s Website Cellular Healing TV: The Podcast of Dr. Daniel Pompa The Cellular Healing Diet by Dr. Pompa 188: Is Fish Oil Dangerous? 197: The Truth About Fish Oil Part 2 Pre-order Beyond Fasting, Dr. Pompa’s new book at beyondfastingbook.com Some relevant articles by Dr. Pompa: Fasting and Autophagy: A Powerful 1-2 Punch Testimonies in Water Fasting Diet Variation Strategies, The Quickest Ways To Lose Weight The Ketogenic Diet: An Answer for More than Weight-Loss Resistance Doctor Dan, the Bandage Man by Helen Gaspard Root Cause IAOMT: The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology 2016 Nobel Prize Winner: Yoshinori Ohsumi for his discoveries of mechanisms for autophagy Cancer as a Metabolic Disease by Thomas Seyfried   This podcast is for information purposes only.
