Hospice Nurse Julie: Death and Dying Without Fear

Welcome back to TTFIO! Our guest this week, Nurse Julie, attempted to make a dent in curing my lifelong fear of dying. This woman is brilliant. A career hospice nurse, Julie has spent her life taking care of people in their final stages of life. Her approach to life and death is something you have to hear. She talks about her work, how patients feel at the end of life, how families can support them, what hospice care entails, and she gives specific details on how you can help your loved ones when you die. From things as simple as jotting down passwords, to more intricate financial details, Nurse Julie shares all the tips you need, but what no one wants to talk about. Julie is on a mission to normalize conversations around death and dying, and I'm excited to share this episode with you all. Also available as a video podcast on YouTube. It's time for some life updates. In this week's solo episode, I'm catching you all up on what I've been up to these past few months. In today's episode, I tell you about my journey to regulate the medications I'm taking for my mental health. From Prozac, to Xanax, to Valium, to Lemme Sleep…You'll hear about what's working for me and what I've cut out of my routine. Enjoy! Dr. GPT: How I Manage My Health Anxiety

I'm here to confess something this week on TTFIO. I am a hypochondriac. As long as I can remember, I have experienced excessive worry and anxiety about my health. In this episode, I take you along my journey and explain my experience with health-related anxiety. I was in a car accident with my mom when I was 8 years old, and since then, I've created stories and convinced myself that I am suffering serious illness despite medical reassurances that I am not. Good news is, I've started to figure it out. I'm starting to learn how to manage. And in this episode, I share what's really helped me better manage a decade worth of anxieties. Hope some of this can help you or someone you love. Also available as a video podcast on YouTube. Dr. Huang: IVF, Egg Freezing, and Fertility

This week on TTFIO, we're answering all your questions about egg freezing and IVF. I'm interviewing Dr. Huang, the fertility specialist who froze my eggs six years ago. I deal with PCOS, and you'll learn why egg freezing was the right choice for me. Dr. Huang covers the reasons why you might consider freezing your eggs and he breaks down exactly what happens during the egg freezing process. He even shares what men can do if sperm quality is an issue for a couple. Finally, we discuss the expenses associated with egg freezing and the uncertain future for reproductive care after the overturning of Roe v. Wade. Also available as a video podcast on YouTube. Shame, Guilt, and Power Imbalances

In this week's solo episode, I open up about the inappropriate and illegal relationship I found myself in when I was 16 years old. Even now, over ten years later, I'm still processing and healing from this experience, and today's episode is part of that journey. I recap everything for you and you'll hear how I wound up in a relationship with my high school strength coach. I'm coming to terms with the shame and the guilt that I carry from this relationship, and this is my message to you: It is not your fault. If you've been in an abusive relationship, you did not deserve what your abuser put you through. Even if you welcomed the relationship at the time, that does not mean that the abuse was okay. Recovering from abuse is confusing and uncomfortable, and if there is anyone else out there who knows what I'm talking about, I get it. I hope today's episode helps you feel less alone. Love you. Jimbo the Drag Clown: RuPaul, Drag, & Pride

HAPPY PRIDE EVERYONE. ROAD TRIP!! I packed up my car and drove to Las Vegas to sit down with Jimbo the Drag Clown hours before their live show. After chatting about how we met, Jimbo recaps her days as a little kid, when she'd spend hours playing dress up with her brother until their scientist father put an end to it. She tells the story of how she started off studying biology in college to please her dad, and reveals the path that took her out west and how that led to discovering who she truly is. I loved our conversation about coming out, hiding parts of ourselves, and the power of embracing what makes us different.
