Secrets of a Chilled-Out Extrovert

Any extroverts in the house?I'm guessing "yes", since chances are good, if you follow this podcast, you likely are an extrovert or at least have those tendencies.  I used to be one too, but today, I consider myself a "Chilled-Out Extrovert", a seeming contradiction, I know. Because my experience is that those old tendencies are still in me and every so often they burst forth in a frenzy of activity that takes my breath away. Literally! Couple that with my Aries moon, having recently been eclipsed while in Mercury retrograde, and you get some mighty energy going on. So this episode is for and about extroverts, those who love them, live with them, or otherwise have to deal with them ... (which is pretty much everyone!) There are some things I've realized over the years about being extroverted and how to best manage all that need to be in charge It's a funny thing about us extroverts: we give the impression that we love to be surrounded by people and activities all the time. We're generally viewed as the "life of the party" people, the ones with our fingers always on the pulse of what's new, hip, happening and what's next.   But here's a little "secret" about us: it's not that we love to be surrounded at all times, it's that we need to be. And therein, lies the problem.   Join me as I unpack my own experience of dealing with the shreds and shards of extroversion that still cling to my personality, even at this “mature” age of 82!  And what it costs me!    What is it that REALLY drives extroverts to seek all that attention?  What has us REALLY need to be in charge, manage, lead and direct whatever parade we’re marching in?    You might take notes if you’re an extroverted type as we dive into the dynamics of what’s really going on inside all that activity and best of all….. what is the antidote!    And extroverts, what have you found to be effective ways to deal with your own extroverted, burned-out status when you’ve crossed the line?    Come join us in the Living in The New Beyond Facebook group and share your own “secrets to being a chilled-out extrovert”, if there is such a thing!  We are all ears!!  Here’s how you can connect:   *****************************************************  Available for purchase on the website: Judith’s best selling book- Beyond the Box:  Lean Out, Break Free, Rise Up!    Musings and Meditations Legacy Audio Series- 9 meditations based on my writing, set to music  Get your FREE copy of my Seasons of A Life video  Connect with Judith: Judith’s email:  judith@judithrich.com  Join our private Facebook Group: Living in The New Beyond  Thanks to Ken Ashby, and Gopal Metro for our original theme music “Each of Us”  Connect with Ken at:  www.prosodycreativeservices.com Gopal’s email:         gopal.metro@gmail.com  Please share this podcast with others, leave a review and follow us on Apple, Spotify and other podcast platforms.  It does make a difference and I really appreciate your support!

Celebrating our 100th episode!!

Welcome to the 100th episode of The New Beyond!   As many of you know, I began this podcast a little over 2 years ago as a kind of legacy project for my 80th birthday.   And we’re now 2 years and 100 episodes down the road and I’m still here!  And so are you!  And this community has grown and I’m celebrating that with all of you.   Recently, I surveyed the people who regularly listen to this podcast and among other things, I inquired : “what are the biggest challenges in your life right now”?   Over half of you indicated among your biggest challenge are issues around purpose, and direction. What is my purpose and where am I going? What's next in my life?  So, there's a lot of uncertainty about what your life is about.  And why wouldn’t that be the case?    For those of you who are looking to launch or relaunch your life, to invent or reinvent yourself, let’s not lose sight of the fact that you are doing this in an era of endless change and upheaval.   There is an interesting quote from Alan Watts that I posted on the LITNB FB page:  “There is a contradiction in wanting to be perfectly secure in a universe whose very nature is momentariness and fluidity.”  And I think we could also say:  "There is a contradiction in wanting to be certain in a universe whose very nature is that of uncertainty.” The question that arises, what can I do? What am I supposed to do with my life when It's taking place inside such instability and change and upheaval?  Join me as I address the following: How do we find purpose, meaning and direction in these times of upheaval and uncertainty?   How do we navigate this tremendous change? What if I don’t trust or believe in myself to do the work?  What can you bring to this moment to ground yourself and come to center?  What are the gifts of this time?   Together we have work to do.  And I am here to support you.    For those who indicated in your survey response that you’re interested in working with me either 1:1 in private coaching, or in a group, please contact me at:  judith@judithrich.com or message me on Facebook Messenger.    Tell me what you’re interested in and let’s put together a plan that meets your needs.   ****************************************************     What’s Up in The New Beyond?  Please help us learn how to serve you better:  Use the link below to give us feedback on the podcast:  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfFZwdbrR90-bmMaVjxwQeIIEd6wrXb2L4exk8Tkn8eiqvbtg/viewform  Available for purchase on the website: Judith’s best selling book- Beyond the Box:  Lean Out, Break Free, Rise Up!

Why I'm Not A Fan of Positive Thinking

In this week’s episode, I tackle the subject of positive thinking and why I am not a fan.   My point of view is that there is no such thing as positive thinking. There is only thinking.  Thoughts are neither positive nor negative. They’re just thoughts.   I further suggest there are no positive or negative feelings. There are only feelings. Following this line of thought, I further suggest there are no positive choices or positive results. There are only choices and results.  I’m also not anti-positive thinking.  I’m merely pointing out that I think we’re not looking at the whole picture when we talk about positive/negative thinking.    Remember, in The New Beyond, we are in a context that is outside the norm, or Beyond the Box, so to speak.  Positive thinking lies inside the box of conventional approaches to dealing with difficult and challenging experiences and emotions.    So what’s the point?   I contend that positive thinking is a form of spiritual bypassing, which is an approach that uses spiritual explanations to dismiss or avoid dealing with complicated emotions or psychological issues.  It’s a form of “magical thinking” that placates the ego, but changes nothing.    Tune in as we unpack this subject and learn:    What is the alternative to positive thinking?   How do we navigate these challenging times of extreme social change and upheaval?   How do we stay grounded and centered and aligned with our highest values as we’re continuous pushed to the edge in this Pandemic of Change?  What is being required of us now, in this Age of Aquarius, as massive change is happening all at once?    I have been a professional coach and trainer through the past five decades.  What I do is support people through their personal and professional challenges, especially in times like now.   I offer 1:1 personal coaching, and VIP days to help you meet these challenges.  I am here to support you in your process of moving through difficulties and becoming aligned with what truly matters to your life.    To learn if we’re a fit to work together, please reach out to me at: judith@judithrich.com-   Available for purchase on my website:  Judith’s best selling book- Beyond the Box:  Lean Out, Break Free, Rise Up!    Musings and Meditations Legacy Audio Series- 9 meditations based on my writing, set to music  Get your FREE copy of my Seasons of A Life video  Use the link below to leave a message, respond to a question or to give us feedback on the podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thenewbeyond/message Judith’s email:  judith@judithrich.com  Facebook Group: Living in The New Beyond  Our original theme music: “Each of Us”, was written and performed by Ken Ashby, and produced by Gopal Metro of Metro Studios.    Connect with Ken at:  kashby@prosodycreativeservices.com Ken’s website:         www.prosodycreativeservices.com Gopal’s email:         gopal.metro@gmail.com  Please take a moment and share this podcast with others, leave a review and follow us on Apple, Spotify and other podcast platforms.  It does make a difference and I really appreciate your support!

The Hardest Thing You'll Ever Do- Part 2

In Part 2 of The Hardest Thing episode begun a couple of weeks ago, we take a deeper dive into why it's so difficult to be in the present moment. I encourage you to listen to Part 1 before listening to this episode, where we lay out the foundational premise of this conversation. This week, we pick up where we left off and explore what is truly meant by the terms "Trust and Surrender", and why they are so hard to do, especially when we don't like or don't want what is happening in the present moment. What does it mean to "surrender"? If you surrender, are you stuck there? What does acceptance mean? If you accept the present moment, are you giving up? Giving in? If you stopped resisting what is, what becomes available to you that is not available inside your resistance? These are the questions we'll explore as we unpack how to navigate the hardest thing we'll ever do. And please be sure to weigh in with your experience in the "interact" function. Look for the prompt, "What did you think of this episode" and let me know what lands for you, what new awareness opens up for you, and what you see possible for yourself. And while you're at it, if you haven't already, please take a moment to follow, rate, review and share this episode with others. This is how we find our audience. Thank you so much for your support! Aquarius Season in The New Beyond

It’s Aquarius season here in The New Beyond and that means it’s also birthday season.  As a double Aquarian, (sun & rising signs), I am about to celebrate my 82nd birthday.  So, this week’s episode is a bit self-indulgent, if you will allow, as I reflect on being in my 80’s as an Aquarian being, which is anything but ordinary.    We are living in extraordinary times, and I think it takes great courage to be a human being on the planet right now.  As an 82 year-old, I am so far from the typical profile of someone my age.  And yet, I know that it is just a number.  What really matters is how we make the years count while we’re here.  I’ll share about that in this episode.   In this episode, I drop a bit of astrology on you.  I am not an astrologer, but Aquarius is the sign of astrology, so I have a keen interest.    I discuss some background on what is happening now astrologically, that impacts every one of us, not just Aquarians.  We are entering a 20-year cycle of gigantic upheaval, leading to a major shift in paradigms.    We are literally, heading into the Aquarian Age, which I equate to The New Beyond.   When I received the name of this podcast two years ago, I did not consciously connect the dots between these two.  But it’s now clear to me, this is what it is.  The New Beyond IS the Age of Aquarius and it is fitting and proper that this podcast represents that consciousness.   If you’ll further indulge me, at the end of this episode, I share a piece of my writing about why I came to the planet.  I hope you can hear yourself in there, and find something in it that resonates for you.    Thank you for coming along on this journey with me for the past two years.  I ask for one more indulgence: the BEST birthday gift you could give me…….. please leave a review on Apple if you find this podcast worth listening to.  It makes a difference, it really does!   ANNOUNCEMENTS AND REMINDERS   ~~~~~~~~ Available for purchase on my website: Judith’s best selling book- Beyond the Box:  Lean Out, Break Free, Rise Up!    Musings and Meditations Legacy Audio Series- 9 meditations based on my writing, set to music  Get your FREE copy of my Seasons of A Life video   *********** Use the link below to leave a message, respond to a question or to give us feedback on the podcast:  https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thenewbeyond/message  Judith’s email:  judith@judithrich.com  Facebook Group: Living in The New Beyond   **********  Our original theme music: “Each of Us”, was written and performed by Ken Ashby, and produced by Gopal Metro of Metro Studios.    Connect with Ken at:  kashby@prosodycreativeservices.com Ken’s website:         www.prosodycreativeservices.com Gopal’s email:   gopal.metro@gmail.com ************** Please take a moment and share this podcast with others, leave a review and follow us on Apple, Spotify and other podcast platforms.  It does make a difference and I really appreciate your support!

Becoming an Imaginal Cell- The Grand Butterfly Project- M Teresa Lawrence

Get ready to be inspired!   My guest this week, M. Teresa Lawrence, who has one of the most inspiring stories I’ve heard in a very long time.   She is an award-winning author, international speaker, and leadership coach. She is the founder and president of the Trueness Project, a non-profit dedicated to empowering children and adults to cherish their imagination and own their power to write their own narratives.  Hear the amazing story of how Teresa and her family came to the U.S. as Cuban refugees after her father was put in prison for being “an enemy of the state”.  After they secured his release, they were able to get to Spain, where her father finalized his credentials and became a pediatrician.   Teresa’s book, Gloriousness, was inspired by her grandmother, who was a master storyteller and knew the power of story. Before they left Cuba, her grandmother knew that Teresa was going to go through a lot of terrifying experiences.  So, she gave Teresa a doll, and counseled her, “Whatever happens to you, keep sharing your stories with this doll, and make sure that whatever stories you tell, the outcome will always be glorious.” And with that, Teresa and her family finally were able to leave Cuba and go to Spain, where she continued to tell her stories to the doll.   Many years later, today as a former refugee, Teresa has witnessed the horror being perpetrated on children who are caught up in war zones and border disputes and felt she had to do something for them.  This led to write her book, Gloriousness, a story about a little girl who always manages to find a glorious ending to her life experiences no matter how challenging they are.   As part of her mission today, through her non-profit, The Trueness Project, Teresa is donating her award-winning transformational children’s book to disadvantaged children throughout the world.  In 2023, she traveled to Kenya as part of a group dedicated to supporting the education of children, and spoke before thousands of children and educators, giving away copies of her book to all of them.  She was invited to return to Kenya in December, 2023, and was awarded an honorary doctorate degree by the Kenyan government for her work with the children there.    As if this weren’t enough, Teresa is presently working on the Grand Butterfly Gathering scheduled for June 29,2024 where her nonprofit the Trueness Project will host the largest number of people dressed as butterflies in history both in person and virtually.  A world record will be set, and a joyous community of change makers will make a statement dressed as butterflies that they stand for a world filled with community, creativity and love.  If you’ve always wanted to dress up like a butterfly and it isn’t Halloween, learn how you can get involved in the Grand Butterfly Project.  Teresa is looking for “Butterfly Captains”. You can be a part of creating this world record! In addition, if you’ve always wanted to be an author, be in a TV documentary, and travel to Costa Rica, holding light for the planet, there is still time to get in on her Butterfly Sanctuary Retreat offering, Feb.19-25.  Link is below for more information. The Rise of The Divine Masculine- Aaron Glassman

More likely than not, you’ve heard of the term “toxic masculinity”.    The term, and the condition to which it refers, has permeated American culture, but is certainly not limited to the U.S.  What we call “toxic masculinity today”, has been a dominant part of cultures world-wide for millennia.      Popular and media discussions have used the term to refer to traditional and stereotypical norms of masculinity and manhood. According to the sociologist Michael Flood, these include "expectations that boys and men must be active, aggressive, tough, daring, and dominant". These traits are considered "toxic" due in part to their promotion of violence, including sexual assault and domestic violence. Socialization of boys sometimes also normalizes violence, such as in the saying "boys will be boys" about bullying and aggression.  My guest this week, Aaron Glassman, believes that in addition to its devastating effects on females, toxic masculinity has also thwarted men’s ability to thrive physically, emotionally and spiritually.    Aaron is committed to supporting men in removing this toxic conditioning so they can access their “deep masculine presence” and thus create deeper, more intimate relationships with their partners, release disempowering habits, tap into their higher frequencies, and bring ecstatic pleasure to their partners.    Join us in this important conversation where Aaron unpacks the prices both men and women pay for this cultural condition and his approach for beginning to untangle and resolve the issue.  You might be surprised at who he says will pay a key role is shifting this paradigm.   To that end, beginning in January, Aaron will be launching his three month group, GentleMAN, an initiation into a most powerful union with the Divine Masculine presence and an opportunity for men to bond with other conscious men to inspire and uplift each other. See link below for information on how to register.   For more information or to register for GentleMAN:   https://offers.thesheschool.com/gentle-man?fbclid=IwAR1NQMjnzpRy8lPXWO9D8RXkQyJ97NYdUF64D2qeHTJDDEfqzcKAvu5njrU  Email Aaron:  scienceoflove528@gmail.com ****************************************************  ANNOUNCEMENTS AND REMINDERS  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Available for purchase on my website: Judith’s best selling book- Beyond the Box:  Lean Out, Break Free, Rise Up!

Women and Their Bodies- Brandee Safran

We’re born into it.   We spend our entire life in it.  We wouldn’t get very far without it.  In fact, we wouldn’t survive without it.   And yet, many women spend their lives cursing it, blaming it, shaming it judging it, mistreating it, starving it, overfeeding it, rejecting it, disconnecting from it.    What is going on with women and their bodies?    Shedding light and bringing wisdom to this conversation is my guest this week, yoga therapist, Brandee Safran.    Brandee comes by her interest in this subject out of her own experience of being diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at age 14 and spending much of her teenage years suffering from painful attacks caused by the inflammation of the disease.  It launched her into a spiritual path and led to her discover of yoga in 1988.   She has pioneered many programs for helping women heal and recover from digestive and pelvic floor issues and tuning in to the body’s wisdom to take full ownership of their health, freedom and joy so they can create a legacy to be proud of.   In this episode, we talk about the ancestral, cultural and collective issues women focus on their bodies, how early the rejection and shaming begins, how being disconnected from her body impacts a woman’s ability to be intimate and have satisfying sexual and emotional relationships.    We discuss the importance of women gathering, how sharing their stories and feeling heard, seen and held in a loving and supportive environment with other women is a step on the path to healing and becoming whole.    In this regard, together, Brandee and I are co-hosting a women’s retreat, The Way of Wisdom, live in San Diego, CA on Jan. 18-21, 2024.   We share about the purpose and opportunity for women who feel called to join us and enter into a healing experience of being seen, held and honored.    This retreat is for the woman who: ·      Is always there for others, but rarely takes time for herself ·      Is hungry in her heart to feel her own love  ·      Is ready to come home to her deepest, wisest, truest self   For more information and to register click here.   To connect with Brandee: Website: www.yogawithbrandee.com Email:  brandee@classicalyoga.ca *******************************    ANNOUNCEMENTS AND REMINDERS   THE WAY OF WISDOM:  A WOMAN’S RETREAT Jan, 18-21, 2024 Live in San Diego CA Facilitated by:  Dr. Judith Rich and Brandee Safran  Click here to register and learn more.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Available for purchase on my website: Judith’s best selling book- Beyond the Box:  Lean Out, Break Free, Rise Up!

It's A New Year- And it's STILL NOW!

Welcome to a new season of The New Beyond!  And Happy New Year! This is the beginning of our 5th season and as we begin this New Year, I’m thinking about how what we think of as “time” does not exist.     In truth, time is a human construct.  There is no such thing as “time” as we know it.  Humans have arbitrarily divided eternity into segments and called them seconds, hours, days, weeks, etc.  But in fact, measured time is only a part of our human reality and does not exist in the unified field of the cosmos.   We humans apparently need this concept of measured time in order to manage our minds and organize our lives. So we proceed with our calendars, clocks and watches and spend much of our time planning for what has yet to happen.  And then, life happens, and much of the time, it had nothing to do with what we planned.   In this episode, we’ll talk about Chronos and Kairos time, and the importance of being aware that what we think of as eternity is right now, right here, right where we are.  Eternity is not some time in the future.  Eternity is now.  We are living in the Eternal Now.   The New Beyond takes place in the consciousness of The Eternal Now.  See if you can get your mind wrapped around that and join us as we dive into this first chapter of The Eternal Now in The New Beyond.   ***********   ANNOUNCEMENTS AND REMINDERS STILL TIME TO JOIN US : Jan 18-21- The Way of Wisdom- A Women's Retreat Live, in San Diego, CA- for more information and to register, https://www.yogawithbrandee.com/the-way-of-wisdom-2 ~~~~~~ Available for purchase on my website: Judith’s best selling book- Beyond the Box:  Lean Out, Break Free, Rise Up!    Musings and Meditations Legacy Audio Series- 9 meditations based on my writing, set to music  Get your FREE copy of my Seasons of A Life video   *********** Use the link below to leave a message, respond to a question or to give us feedback on the podcast:  https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thenewbeyond/message  Judith’s email:  judith@judithrich.com  Join our Facebook Group: Living in The New Beyond    **********  Our original theme music: “Each of Us”, was written and performed by Ken Ashby, and produced by Gopal Metro of Metro Studios.    Connect with Ken at:  kashby@prosodycreativeservices.com Ken’s website:         www.prosodycreativeservices.com Gopal’s email:         gopal.metro@gmail.com   ************** Please take a moment and share this podcast with others, leave a review and follow us on Apple, Spotify and other podcast platforms  It does make a difference and I really appreciate your support!
