# 437 - Is red light therapy a health miracle ?
Today we look at the fascinating medical treatment that is red light therapy. I speak Bryan Gohl founder of Red Light Rising a company specialising in Red light therapy.
What is red light therapy and what conditions can it be used to treat.
Find out how red light therapy affects the mitochondria in the cell and why this is signifcant.
We hear it is particularly beneficial in treating pain.
How is the red light therapy administered, for how long and how often?
And are there any harmful side effects of this form of treatment.
Some studies showing Redlight therapy's efficacy :
Wound healing : A 2014 study published in the journal Seminars in Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery found that RLT enhances wound healing by stimulating fibroblast function and increasing collagen synthesis.
Pain relief / Inflammation reduction : A 2009 study published in The Lancet found that RLT significantly reduced pain in patients with chronic joint disorders, such as osteoarthritis .
Anti-ageing : A 2013 study in the Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy demonstrated that RLT improved skin complexion and texture, reducing wrinkles in participants after several weeks of treatment .
Muscle recovery : A 2016 study published in American Journal of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation showed that RLT helped reduce muscle fatigue and improved muscle recovery in athletes after exercise.

# 436 - How fast can you clean your arteries ? Dr Ronald Krauss
Heart heath and cholesterol in particular has caused much confusion in recent years, today I hope to dispel some of that confusion as I speak with Dr Ronald Krauss a medical research professor and advocate of a low carb diet.
We hear why LDL is not a perfect measure of cardiovascular ill- health, why well because LDL particles come in different sizes, with varying protein content and pose different risks.
HDL has traditionally been deemed to be the good cholesterol, but raising its levels hasnt been shown to be beneficial in terms of heart disease risk, in fact HDL thats too high is now viewed as a risk factor for heart disease.
We learn about ApoB and Lipoprotein A and why they are important biomarkers, especially in families with a history of heart disease.
I find out how arterial plaques form and if its possible to clean out your clogged arteries and how long does it takes.
Plus we explore he importance of limiting carbohydrates rather than fat in our diets, if we want to address heart health.

I speak with radiation oncologist Dr Christy Kesslering, who has many years experience treating patients in particular those with cancer.
Dr Kesslering believes we should focus more closely on our metabolic health if we are to tackle chronic diseases, indeed she has seen many patients achieve incredible improvements in their conditions through alteration in their diets and ongoing analysis of key biomarkers of disease.
In fact we speak about insulin being a key marker and a red flag for diseases such as obesity and cancer.
We exploret the value of low carbohydrate and ketogenic diets in treating disease head on.
We ask what role damaged mitochondria play in the development of disease.
Dr Christy also lays out a series of biomarkers that patient should be monitoring.
