Florida's  fascist excuse for a governor has vilified the woman who  tried to tell the truth about the number of covid infections in the  state of Florida for two years now. Rebekah Jones was fired from her  job, slandered, her home raided and guns were pulled on her young  children. A concerted smear campaign was mounted against her, to the  point where people who should know better are echoing the smears without  any proof. I invited Rebekah to join us, and she's scheduled to do that today.  I believe nothing from either Ron DeSantis or Matt Gaetz, and thought it  was important to hear Rebekah's story from her, and let her explain  what led to this mess...

Howie Klein has been doing a weekly segment on my show for at least a  decade now, but he won't be here today. Howie lives in Los Angeles,  where they've been inundated with rain and under flood warnings. He just  sent a message telling me he has no power and no internet, so will not  be able to join us today.  Hopefully all will be well, and Howie will be  back next week. To the rescue comes Brian Karem. The White House correspondent and  columnist for Salon makes his 2023 debut on the show. Sadly, there's so  little to talk about...  Obviously, that's bullshit. There's more than enough insanity to cover,  and it's only January 12!

The wingnuts controlling the House are giving us a preview of what we  can expect from the next two years and it won't be pretty. I'll begin  the show today with a brief recap of the House shenanigans and floor  speeches and a bit of the news of the day. And then we'll be joined by  Will Bunch, columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer. Will was supposed to be here last Wednesday... but he will be here  today. I think!

Laffy is smarter than we knew, as not only is she escaping the fascist faction here in the states, but she's also safe from the massive storm system that's drenched California for the past week with no end in sight. Despite the gaslighting from Republicans, we know what happened at the Capitol on January 6, 2021. We watched it unfold on live television, and lived through 10 hearings detailing the characters and actions leading up to and following the attack on the Capitol. We heard both then the two top Republicans in Congress- Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy both point the finger of blame directly at Donald Trump, before retreating to their positions of cowardice in backing off the much-deserved criticism. Power over sanity, it seems; certainly over country or constitution. And now, we have proof that the insurrectionists are exporting their fascism, as their compadres in Brazil attempted a similar insurrection and overturning of their latest elections this weekend too. Not a surprise at all. Today, I'm joined by a photojournalist who was at the Capitol on 1-6, covering the events of the day for Rolling Stone magazine.
