20210624 Nicole Sandler Show - Thu with Howie Klein plus Manuel Oliver on the Lost Class Graduation
It's a busy Thursday. As usual, Howie Klein is here, and we'll discuss the developments today on an infrastructure deal, the House Judiciary Committee mark ups on the anti-trust package of bills, congressional candidate bingo and more. But we'll start the show with Manuel Oliver. His son Joaquin was killed in Feb 2018 during the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland. This morning, we learned of an amazing graduation event he put together for "the Lost Class" at which a former NRA president was totally pwned. It's the best thing you'll see all week, I promise.

20210623 Nicole Sandler Show - ACA Survives But the US is Still Sick with Jonathan Cohn
The Supreme Court handed down four decisions today as they soldier on to the end of the term next week. (There are still 8 cases to opine on. The next announcements will come Friday.) Last week we got the good news that, for the third time, the Supreme Court did not overturn the ACA. That said, this country's health care system is still on life support. Jonathan Cohn of HuffPost has been covering the healthcare beat for many years. He just released his second book on the subject, "The Ten Year War: Obamacare and the Unfinished Crusade for Universal Coverage" during the pandemic. He'll join us today to tell our prognosis.

20210622 Nicole Sandler Show -Tuesday with GottaLaff and the End of Democracy
Sorry for the cynicism in the title of today's show, but fuck Sinema and Manchin, as they are killing us. It's Tuesday, so Laffy is here, and we've got a lot of news to cover today. Most notably, today the Senate will vote to open debate on the For the People Act which will be filibustered by the Republicans, so why do we even bother?

20210621 Nicole Sandler Show -Four Americas (and We Can't Get One that Works?) with George Packer
My guest today is George Packer - journalist, novelist, author, playwright. He writes regularly for The Atlantic, and just published a new book, "Last Best Hope: America In Crisis and Renewal". In it, he suggests we are in a state of a cold civil war between four factions who share virtually no overlap: Free America, Smart America, Real America and Just America. I'm not sure I buy into his theory, though he does make some important points. At the top of the show, I'm joined by "Boca" Brit Somers who was at the Ft. Lauderdale Pride Parade on Saturday, where she missed getting hit by the truck that drove into the crowd, killing one person and injuring at least one other. Brit will tell us what happened. And the Supreme Court handed down another three opinions...

20210618 Nicole Sandler Show - Friday with FOIA Master Jason Leopold
The government may have labelled Jason Leopold a FOIA Terrorist, but I prefer to call him a FOIA Master... This week, the project Jason spent two years working on, The FinCen Files investigation has been honored as a finalist for the 2021 Pulitzer Prize in International Reporting! This is the second time Jason's work has been a Pulitzer finalist. I thought we needed a hanging and celebrating with Jason day, and today is it. We'll talk about the whistleblower who got the investigation rolling by providing Jason with FinCen documents. We now know her identity: Natalie Mayflower Sours Edwards, the U.S. Treasury official who disclosed the financial intelligence documents to BuzzFeed News, was sentenced last week to six months in prison. We'll talk with Jason about that. But we'll start the show with the latest news, and celebrate our new national holiday, Juneteenth!
