The Supreme Court wrapped up the current term this morning by issuing its two final rulings. They saved the biggest and most damaging for last. Lisa Graves of True North Research, a former Deputy Assistant Attorney General under Clinton, joins in at the top of the show to explain the ramifications of the court's decisions on our voting rights and the continuation of dark money in politics. In the second half hour, it's Howie Klein time. We'll talk about the progressive challenger to Rand Paul, Pelosi's 1-6 committee members, and Pramila Jayapal's take on Marjorie Taylor Greene. I often return to the theme of opposite world, where we appear to be stuck. That Bill Cosby walked out of prison today, conviction overturned is proof that we're in opposite world. Hearing Republican members of Congress explain why a commission investigating the January 6 insurrection is unnecessary, seeing the former guy at the border pretending to be in a position of authority, Jim Clyburn again working to sabotage the campaign of a progressive Democrat... I could keep going, but I think you get the idea. And Jeff Sharlet returns to the show today to tell us about Trump's first post-presidential lie-fest - er - rally. Opposite world, indeed.

Former senator and two-time presidential candidate Mike Gravel died this weekend. His presidential runs were more a curiosity than serious, and Gravel was often the butt of jokes. But he was an American hero, dating back to his first term in the senate. It was 1971. Daniel Ellsberg desperately wanted a member of Congress to read the Pentagon Papers into the official congressional record. The one who stood up and did it was Mike Gravel. Today on the show, I'll share a bit of the background of the story, John Nichols' article for The Nation that pays tribute to the man, and the interview he did with me in April of 2019 during his final run for the presidency. At a time when we need elected officials who are in it for the correct reasons, I honor the late Mike Gravel.

South Florida is still reeling from yesterday's collapse of a high rise apartment building on Miami Beach. 159 people are missing and prospects for finding anyone alive in the rubble are almost non-existent. Derek Chauvin was sentenced for the murder of George Floyd. The Supreme Court announced more decisions as the term nears its end. Kamala Harris is at the border. There's allegedly an infrastructure deal. You get the idea. There's a ton of information to cover, so we'll cover it. Dave Johnson who these days writes at seeingtheforest.com joins in.
