20210722 Nicole Sandler Show - Thursdays with Howie Klein

It is Thursday, so Howie Klein is here. When we first met, probably 25 years ago, Howie was president of Reprise Records. One of his artists was Eric Clapton, who's quoted in today's news: "I wish to say that I will not perform on any stage where there is a discriminated audience present. Unless there is provision made for all people to attend, I reserve the right to cancel the show." So, if there are mask or vaccine proof requirements, he'll not do the show? Alrighty then. Guess I won't be seeing Eric Clapton in concert again. Of course, there's lots to discuss, including Pelosi excluding two of McCarthy's picks for the 1/6 select committee, and the expected fallout from that decision and more...

20210721 Nicole Sandler Show - Capitol Dysfunction with Harvey J. Kaye

Nancy Pelosi today rejected two of Kevin McCarthy's pics for the Select Committee on Jan 6, so McCarthy accused her of playing partisan politics and said none of his members would participate. That's the grown up version of taking ones toys and going home, I guess. In the senate, the Republicans are doing their best to stop any business from getting done, in this case it's the infrastructure bills they're stopping. Who better to try to make sense of the nonsense than a professor of Democracy and Justice studies... well, emeritus anyway. Harvey J. Kaye returns to the show today with a special bonus...a book report on Josh Hawley's masterpiece. He read it so we don't have to!

20210719 7-19-21 Nicole Sandler Show - Kicking off A New Week with David Dayen

Congress is back with a lot on their plates before they leave again for the month of August. The first Jan 6 insurrectionist was sentenced. It's Infrastructure Summer with votes set for Wednesday. You get the idea. With so much going on, there's no one I'd rather speak with than David Dayen, executive editor of The American Prospect.

20210716 Nicole Sandler Show - Another Cuban Crisis and Florida's Double Standard

History is happening as Cubans take to the streets protesting their lousy government for the first time in more than two decades, and probably only the third time in the past 60 years or so. I'm joined today by journalist and author Anthony DePalma, author of the book "The Cubans: Ordinary Lives in Extraordinary Times" who also wrote an op-ed published in the Washington Post this week. He'll give us a bit of the history and explain what's happening in Cuba now that brought its people out into the streets. And I'll fill you in on the Florida double-standard (aka hypocrisy) concerning the protests. And since today is Friday, we'll attempt to end the week with some fun.
