It's Monday, the start of what will be a busy and consequential week on Capitol Hill. It's a sausage-making festival, and won't be fun to watch. But there's so much on the line. Running concurrent to what the legislators are doing is an investigation into the former guy and his minions who've been working to overturn a free and fair election, thus undermining our entire democracy. Sadly the latter is getting very little serious attention. Last week, we saw a six-point plan to complete the conman's coup in writing, showing us how close we came to that scenario playing out, but not one of the major networks or even cable news networks covered the story! NOT ONE! This is the slow motion coup unfolding, and we're watching it happen in real time, powerless to stop it. Yes, I'm cynical. I've earned it. Our guest today is fighting the good fight against the bad guys. Jennifer Taub's book, "Big Easy Money" was released last year at this time. Tomorrow, the paperback hits shelves with a new subtitle: "Making White Collar Criminals Pay". She's using the launch of the book to pressure Attorney General Merrick Garland to do something already about TFG. Let's make it happen.

As we approach the weekend, the breaking news stories keep coming. They really started yesterday, with news about the COVID booster shot. Then the leaks of the Arizona election fraudit draft report which is set for release about an hour before showtime today. What we do know is that Joe Biden, indeed, won Arizona, and it only cost the state 6 MILLION DOLLARS for that result. And Trump is still lying. Then there are the House votes on everything from codifying Roe v Wade to the National Defense Authorization Act and sending Israel another billion dollars for their iron dome missile defense system and more. Oh, and the run up to Monday's scheduled vote on the BIF or hard infrastructure bill, while the reconciliation package-which is supposed to go hand-in-hand with the BIF- is nowhere ready for a vote. There's more, and we'll review some of it. We'll wrap up the week with another visit from White House correspondent Brian Karem. He was the WH correspondent for Playboy, but Playboy is gone. Who knew? He's now penning a weekly column for Salon. com, and continues hosting his own podcast, "Just Ask the Question" at justaskthequestion.com. Yesterday marked one year since the former guy took a question from Brian in the WH briefing room. Karem asked "Regardless of the outcome, will you guarantee a peaceful transition of power?" The rest, as they say, is history.

The old adage goes "Democrats, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory." Sadly it becomes more true with each passing day. But everything is on the line right now. And if the Congressional Democrats can't get the president's signature Build Back Better plan passed, it's our own fault. Today, we'll review what's going on and where we are right now. "Game of Thrones" gave us "bend the knee." Colin Kaepernick showed us the meaning of taking a knee. My favorite sports journalist Dave Zirin has always reported on the intersection of sports and politics, and this is right in his wheelhouse. His new book, "The Kaepernick Effect: Taking a Knee, Changing the World" examines how Kap's private protest turned into a global cry for justice, pointing a finger directly at the horrific treatment of Black men and women at the hands of police. Dave joins in at the :30 minute mark. Before that, the latest news, and sadly, it's not very good.
