A bit of what's news for now

Well, it certainly was a week. On Monday I told you to strap in for a roller coaster ride... and now it's Friday and this ride really sucks. It's all so complicated, so I've invited one of the very best of the journalists who keeps me informed, David Dayen, executive editor of the American Prospect magazine (at prospect.org) to try to wrap up the week, such as it was, for us.

Howie Klein of DownWithTyranny.com and the Blue America PAC has been doing a weekly segment on my show for over a decade now! And for as long as I can remember, he's warned us about Kyrsten Sinema. He knows her from way back and insists she's always been crazy. Now he can say, "I told you so." The question is, what do we do about her? We'll talk about that among other things today, as we're waiting to find out how the Infrastructure/Reconciliation/Debt Ceiling turns out! But we'll start with my disgust about the destruction of the previously wonderful US Postal Service, which is being destroyed by TFG's stooge he appointed to be Postmaster General to take down the Post Office. ARGHH!

The media likes to refer to Congress' attempts at legislating as "making the sausage". But it's actually a giant shit show. If you want to be disillusioned by government. But I thought I'd use the sausage making analogy because it's sufficiently disgusting. Zach Carter, whose book "The Price of Peace: Money, Democracy and the Life of John Maynard Keynes" is now available in paperback, had an op-ed published in the NY Times last week, "Why Are Moderates Trying to Blow Up Biden's Centrist Economic Plan?". He obviously pushes a few of my buttons with that, beginning with using both "moderates" and "centrist" in the title! That's where we begin as well...

Today is part two of our series of Democratic challengers hoping to replace the man occupying the Governor's office in Tallahassee. Following last week's appearance by Nikki Fried, today Charlie Crist joins the show. We'll talk about what he learned from holding that office, what now makes him a Democrat as opposed to the Republican he was the first time he held the office he once again aspires to. He joins us at the top of the show... Afterwards, we'll talk about what we learned from that interview, and about the rest of the mess in DC as Congress fights over infrastructure, avoiding a shutdown and increasing the debt limit!
