Whether you call him Miami Steve, Little Steven, Steve or Stevie, the Rock and Roll Consigliere joins me via Zoom for an all-encompassing conversation about his new book, "Unrequited Infatuation," and the many stories he tells in it, and then some. We taped this conversation on Wednesday. I figured it would be a perfect way to kick off the weekend after a rough and frankly pretty awful week. And then Putin bombed a nuclear power plant in Ukraine last night - the largest one in all of Europe- and I realized I couldn't wait until Monday to talk about that. So, we're starting a bit early today. I still want Steve to usher in my weekend -- I was feeling too good at the end of the interview to then start talking about the horrors being inflicted on the good people of Ukraine. So, we get a bonus hour at the beginning. That first hour is podcast separately.. so download it too to hear Harvey Wasserman, who's been one of the fixtures of the No Nukes movement since the 70s. In fact, he was one of the people responsible for bringing together MUSE (Musicians United for Safe Energy) and the brilliant No Nukes concerts in 1979, at which Bruce and Steve Van Zandt played. So it just seemed that this was the way to go... Anyway, a bonus hour today, and Steve Van Zandt. Now if only the people of Ukraine weren't under attack by the planet's sickest madman...

An extra bonus hour of the show today. I started an hour early because of the news out of Ukraine of Russia bombing a nuclear power plant, the largest one in all of Europe. No Nukes Activist Harvey Wasserman joins in to tell about the dangers of any time of war within Ukraine around all those nuclear plants. I also brought you up to speed on my communications with Tatiana, the owner of the Friends Forever Hostel in Kyiv, who I met on the phone last week. She and her husband have finally fled Kyiv. The world is in shambles and Vladimir Putin is a madman. I cannot believe this is happening.. I'll share some thoughts about the madness. And then, it's Thursday, so Howie Klein joins in. And he has some actual good news out of Texas! So we got that going for us.

There's so much going on today that it's difficult to figure out what to cover and what to pass on during a one-hour long show. We have to make editorial decisions when deciding what news to report on. But I'm only dealing with my one hour a day. In the grand scheme of things, do you wonder what stories are neglected by the media? Especially the corporate media who are, unfortunately, controlled by the ratings/circulation/click/money metric? Well, wonder no longer. That's what Project Censored is all about. Today, I'm joined by Project Censored's associate director Andy Lee Roth, who'll tell us about the newly released STATE OF THE FREE PRESS 2022 The Top Censored Stories and Media Analysis of 2020–21. It's now Day 6 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and the Russian propaganda is being spread thickly. I think it's the same people who want to do their own vaccine research, as if anything they find out will be more credible than the world's scientific community. In this case, Vladimir Putin has invaded and is waging war on an innocent neighboring nation, simply because Vlad wants his Soviet Union back. But these idiots are echoing his propaganda, claiming that the nation led by a JEWISH man is filled with Nazis who are exterminating ethnic Russians living in Ukraine. Why weren't they screaming about this a month or more ago? Because it's bullshit! The easily led are so easily led. Our guest today is journalist Brian Karem who just released a new book, "Free the Press: The Death of American Journalism and How to Revive It." We have much to talk about.
