20200311 Nicole Sandler Show - War & Peace and Mean People Suck

We've finally reached Friday, and Russia's war on the innocent people in Ukraine is in its third week. I don't want to watch the atrocities, but I can't turn away as I'm concerned about the people who are being murdered by the world's smallest madman. As you know, I have a friend in Ukraine. We've been communicating via the Telegram app. Today, she sent me a horribly disturbing message. She wrote "Today I received a call to the Friends forever hostel phone number. The man asks are you alive? I say yes. The answer is, I hope you all die very soon!" How can people be so cruel. My inner Momma Bear pounced. Tatiana sent me a screenshot of her phone, where this caller's phone number was clearly displayed. It was a NYC number: 929 841 4806. I'll explain what happened next at the start of the show... Then, we'll check in with Dietmar Pichler, an Austrian who frequently visits Ukraine, and know the history of the country very well. He's been working overtime, debunking the disinformation being spread by Putin, trying to get the world to listen to the truth. And finally, because it's Friday and we all need to take some time for self care this weekend, I thought I'd bring on a guy who can make us laugh. John Poveromo is a comedian and host of the podcast Dystopia Tonight. We'll see if he can actually make us laugh in the face of the immense tragedy we're watching in real time. Game on.

20220310 Nicole Sandler Show - Thursday with Howie Klein

It's a Thursday, so Howie Klein is here to talk all things politics. Today the saga of Madison Cawthorne continues. How he ever got into Congress is beyond me; that's North Carolina, I guess. I really have no room to complain, as I'm in Floriduh, and here things have gone from slightly nuts to completely certifiable. And, of course, the news out of Ukraine remains surreal. Lots to talk about today...

20220308 Nicole Sandler Show - Int'l Women's Day with the Gliberal Goddesses

The pandemic is in its third year, the Russian war against Ukraine is in its second week, and the world is mad. I've been staying in close contact with my new friend from Kyiv, who's now in a small village much closer to the border with Poland while they wait to see what happens next. As I've been doing, I'll continue to update you on her situation, and when she's ready, will bring her on the air to talk with us. But not until she's ready. I can't even imagine what she's going through right now. Today, I'll get together with two of my closest women friends... GottaLaff, who would have been here anyway as it's *her* Tuesday. And Amy Simon, the cultural HERstorian behind the play "She's History: The Most Dangerous Women in America, Then and Now"... The three of us used to get together weekly as the Gliberal Goddesses. Well, for one show only, we're back!

20220307 Nicole Sandler Show - Mystal Monday: Elie Retorts!

I've been horribly disillusioned by the corporate media, especially the outlets that purport to serve a progressive audience. But I do have to thank MSNBC for introducing me to the always brilliant Elie Mystal. I've been honored by his presence on this program a few times, and am thrilled to welcome him back today as his first book, "Allow Me To Retort: A Black Guy's Guide to the Constitution" is just released. Elie's premise that the constitution is "trash" raised some eyebrows on The View last week. That's because they don't know Elie. I get it... he'll explain! Of course, we'll begin with the latest news. And I'll share this weekend's updates from our friend in Ukraine, Tatiana from the Friends Forever Hostel in Kyiv (though she's no longer there...). We have been in contact, and I'll bring you up to speed. Then, we're joined by someone who's always one of my favorite guests! Elie Mystal is Justice Correspondent for The Nation, and his new book was just released last week. We'll talk about "Allow me to Retort: A Black Guy's Guide to the Constitution"
