But as you buy more real estate, more energy is required to keep making money. However, you don’t need physical property to make passive income as a personal brand. James Harrington is the founder of the nonprofit Ugandan Water Project. I got to know James back when we were both involved in the ministry world and even played on tour together. I took a spontaneous trip to LA for a week, which led to recording a couple of podcast episodes, going to an Angels game, and meeting with David Meltzer and many influential non-public figures. Over the past two to three years, I’ve been on a journey of learning how to channel energy. At the end of 2021, I decided that I wanted to take a month off of work. I set my systems in place, let everyone know that I would be taking a break, and began my staycation on June 1st. During my time off I learned some valuable and unexpected lessons. For example, I learned I have a lot more agency over my calendar than I thought. I also found that I enjoy writing and my social posts were having a higher impact than they used to. I was able to walk away for five weeks and return, refreshed and enriched, to my business without missing a beat. I officially returned to work on July 12th with a new excitement for what I do.
