This is your host is Kimberly Olson and today as promised you've been asking for more interviews with amazing rock stars out there and I found quite the gem recently and we hit it off right away. None other than THE Brooke Elder. I'm sure a lot of you listening know her, but now you are going to fall in love with her just like I did. We had a chance to connect a couple of weeks ago and I was like, where have you been my whole life? So Brooke, welcome on. I'm so excited to have you Brooke Elder: Thanks and I felt the same way about you. Like we are like soul sisters really. Kimberly Olson: I know and I've seen your, you know your name floating around social media. Obviously you've built a huge presence and I actually have a lot of people that girls who come through my stuff saying, you know, I had done Brook's programs or I'm in her group and I was like, who is this Brooke lady? And then once I met you, I was like, Oh my gosh, why isn't it taking, why is it taking this long for us to connect? So I know you guys listening are going to absolutely love her if she is new to you. I'm going to spend some time with her right now talking about her story. The thing I love the most about what I've learned about you so far, Brooke, is that you were doing this before everyone was doing this. And I think that's so important for people to understand that it's really going to help you to scale your business and grow and learn. If you find teachers out there who are really have stood the test of time, been in the trenches and really built their business, they're not just talking about it like you've literally been like one of the pillars in our industry for social media. So take my listeners back to what got you into network marketing. What was going on in your life and your family's life and what was it like starting out when social media was just getting started? Brooke Elder: So, um, the very first network marketing company I got in, it's because I got a message from a girl from high school that was the like, Hey, I know we haven't talked since high school. Like yes, I really did respond to him, but we were really good friends in high school and we, it was just really good to connect. And she had started a business and um, she was having like this opportunity night and she just got credit for bringing somebody. So I was like, okay, I'll go. And I was sitting there and it was, the whole thing was all about how you can retire your husband. And that was the first time in my life that I thought, Hm, I could actually do something so my husband wouldn't have to work a job that he absolutely hated. You know, like, so he was a nurse and even when he was in school to be a nurse, he had one semester left and he was like, I don't want to be a nurse anymore. Get the full transcript HERE!

82: Ideas for Building a Real Instagram Stories Sequence

Most online marketers get it totally wrong when it comes to posting in your Instagram Stories. This is gonna be really fun- for episode 82, we're going to talk about ideas for building a real stories sequence. When I see people's stories, I love the effort. I love that they're trying, I love that they're posting, but I'm seeing a lot of people not understanding what the stories is going to do. I'm seeing them just posting random things that aren't strung together at all. And I want you to imagine that you picked up a book to read up at bedtime for your kids. We do every single night. And imagine you opening that book. And the first picture was, you know, a picture of, uh, the characters dog. And then the next page was a picture of that character, you know, in front of their school bus. Kimberly Olson: 00:48 I mean, if there was like no rhyme or reason to it, you'd be really confused with the story, especially your kids would, right? So when it comes to your stories, you want to start thinking about how can I make it a real story? So I'm going to give you a product based example today and a business based example today. So you have two clear examples to work off of. This can be your framework and that way you can start to see how this works. Okay, so stories are intended for people to see more dimension of who you are there. Let your hair down a little bit. The sweaty selfies are cool. You're not as polished like you are in your Instagram feed or in a Facebook live video. It's the behind the scenes. It's what is the life like for Kimberly? Kimberly Olson: 01:31 What was Kimberly doing all day? You go to my stories right now, which you can't because this is recorded, but if you did, you'd see there's a lot of video promotion today because I've been doing a ton of Facebook lives, so people are going to see that going, Oh wow, Kimberly. Kimberly has all kinds of new content out today. I want to go check it out. Okay, so I'm more in that business entrepreneurial influencer space, but I work my kids in all the time. I show us as a family for the holidays us traveling, all that. Okay, they rock because they're going to give you more leads. Stories are viewed way more than the newsfeed. Okay? Look at the number of how many people view stories. I get thousands of views every day on my stories and a post on Instagram might get a couple hundred, well I don't know how many views, but probably similar. (for the full transcription Click Here)

It's crazy when I think about that, but I really wanted to do this episode because I think that there's a mystery around it and you're going to be shocked at the simple steps I took to be able to grow at the rapid pace. So if you want to grow your business, whether it's network marketing, online marketing, a coach, membership programs, whatever you want to do, you have to have a lot of people digesting your content. Back in the day it used to be blogging, then it was YouTube, and now then, you know, obviously around 2009 2010 Facebook exploded in the last, what is it? Just five, six years, which is so weird to say. Who knows what's going to be next? Kimberly Olson: 01:44 I did attempt to tic toc, Oh, I do need to do a tic toc today. I made a note. I gotta write that down. I promised myself I would do them when I did video days and who knows what we'll be talking about in five years. It's just crazy, but you got to have an audience so you can choose what audience that is. That's the beauty of social media and that people are digesting content online at a rapid pace. It's awesome. However, that means that you need to grow that audience. So I have people following me in all different platforms, even Twitter, my YouTube videos, a third of my traffic comes from Twitter. I'm like, I'm not even on Twitter. I just repost stuff over there. It's hilarious, but you got to pick one and then you're going to build off of it, which I'm going to talk about today, but it's really, really important that you understand in order for you to have people to talk to and have people who want to buy your product, join your team, become a client of yours.
