J-E-T-S! JETS! JETS! JETS! Does Adam Gase have to go? (10/2)

Today's word of the day is 'melee' as in a fight as in a brawl as in the Jets-Broncos game on Thursday night could have ended in one. Why? The New York Jets are a disaster. Six personal foul penalties. Two roughing the passer penalties. Gregg Williams as the Jets defensive coordinator. Adam Gase as the Jets head coach. A recipe for a sloppy, ugly, horrible game. Broncos head coach took offense to the way this game went down and snubbed Adam Gase of a postgame handshake. So now what happens (0:06)? LeBron James says he and Anthony Davis work so well because there's no jealousy. How important is it for superstar on your team to respect each other (12:15)? Let's talk about Fernando Tatis Jr of the San Diego Padres. Bat flips, home runs, amazing plays, and a bunch of swag... he saved the Padres season. The bigger discussion is how can MLB help make him the face of baseball (21:19). Clayton Kershaw just destroyed the Milwaukee Brewers last night. Has Kershaw exorcised his postseason demons? Not yet (29:31). Review - Little Monsters (33:00). Francisco Lindor had a quote that was made for Nothing Personal. When asked if Cleveland could afford him he said, "It's a billion dollar organization." (36:45) Welp.... Let's finish today's show with some fan favorites. #waittosee Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

MLB Postseason, NBA Finals... How do we watch it all!? (10/1)

Today's word of the day is 'overstimulated' as in 8 playoff games and a finals game as in so much sports as in how do we watch it all!? Let's talk about how crazy of a sports day Wednesday actually was(0:06). Houston Astros advanced and Carlos Correa spoke to the haters. Not the right move (2:30). What about our pal, Trevor Bauer? What did he do? He pitched a gem, but he keeps doing things that rub people the wrong way (9:04). The last series I'd like to talk about is the Yankees-Indians matchup. What a disaster of a game last night. Not the game game, but the game length. 19 walks. A rain delay (13:00). So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me about having fans at the World Series. They wanted if this decision was just about money (17:11). Review - Thunder Road (25:00). Let's talk about the NBA Finals. Not the game. What was going on behind the scenes. The report was Doc Rivers was watching the game with Philadelphia 76ers top brass. Interesting. Allow me to explain (27:00). The Brooklyn Nets already seem like a bad, bad situation. Kyrie Irving had some things to say on Kevin Durant's new podcast (31:45). What happens when a team owner wants to be 'part of the process'... the Los Angeles Angels know all too well about this (34:50). We did not win Podcast of the Year Award, but we still love each one of you listeners. Thank you. Maybe next year? #waittosee---------------------------'Nothing Personal with David Samson' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox, Bullhorn and wherever else you listen to podcasts.  Follow David on Twitter: @DavidPSamson To watch David on CBS Sports HQ visit https://www.cbssports.com/live/To hear more from the CBS Sports Podcast Network, visit https://www.cbssports.com/podcasts/ Learn more about your ad choices. NFL makes first covid postponement decision with Titans-Steelers (9/30)

Today's word of the day is 'flowchart' as in the NFL will update it's chart as in what is being decided is what we discussed yesterday. The Tennessee Titans and Pittsburgh Steelers game will not be on Sunday, but could be on Monday or Tuesday after another positive test. No positives for the Minnesota Vikings players tested positive so that game will go on as planned on Sunday. Now we have some scheduling issues between the teams, the NFL, and the broadcast partners (0:06). How did Shane Bieber look in the postseason? He got rocked by the New York Yankees. Gerit Cole pitched a gem, and it was all over. This was always an option that was likely to happen in Game 1. What will happen with the Indians against Tanaka in Game 2 (5:26)? The Minnesota Twins are in a bad place. 17-straight playoff losses. How does a team overcome this (11:07)? The Chicago White Sox were the coldest team in MLB entering the postseason and it DID NOT MATTER. So what is the mentality right now in the postseason when facing elimination (17:01)? The NBA Finals begin tonight.. Heat v. Lakers, Pat Riley v. LeBron James... oh boy. Let's talk about this championship run from LeBron James and what this title would mean to him (22:07). NFL UPDATE! NFL UPDATE! It has come to our attention that the Titans game that could be played on Tuesday next week has a conflict in scheduling! Nashville SC has a home game Tuesday night in MLS. Who gets to play the game (25:55)? So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me what I thought about Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis comments on mask wearing situation (29:43). What's going on with Messi and Barcelona? Messi says it's water under the bridge and he was trying to help out his club when he asked for a release.... give me a break (36:18). Review - The first 2020 Presidential Debate. Did anyone win the debate (41:30)? #waittosee---------------------------'Nothing Personal with David Samson' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox, Bullhorn and wherever else you listen to podcasts.  Follow David on Twitter: @DavidPSamson To watch David on CBS Sports HQ visit https://www.cbssports.com/live/To hear more from the CBS Sports Podcast Network, visit https://www.cbssports.com/podcasts/https://www.youtube.com/nothingpersonalwithdavidsamson Learn more about your ad choices. Los Angeles Clippers fire Doc Rivers; NFL dealing with Titans coronavirus outbreak (9/29)

Today's word of the day is 'vision' as in I want to share my vision as in selling a vision to your team as in when you're the owner of a team you have a vision to win a title every year as in Steve Ballmer and the Los Angeles Clippers fired Doc Rivers after blowing a 3-1 series lead to the Denver Nuggets. Let's talk about what went wrong here and how Steve Ballmer handled this situation (0:06). BREAKING COVID NEWS! PUT YOUR MASK ON AND GET OUT OF THE HUDDLE! There is a coronavirus outbreak in the NFL right now inside the Tennessee Titans organizations. Three players and five staff tested positive and now everything is shut down. Titans played the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday so the Vikings shut down. So what happens next (12:09)? The Philadelphia Phillies failed. Bryce Harper failed. Joe Girardi failed. Matt Klentak failed. J.T. Realmuto is about to enter free agency. Is there anyway the Phillies can avoid a complete disaster? What happens on a team charter plane (19:37)? Well, we have an issue with the San Francisco 49ers and offensive coach Katie Sowers. Sowers sister went public saying it was ridiculous that her sister had to fly coach on the team charter while other coaches sat in first class. Let's talk about seating charts and how they work (27:19). Review - The Devil All The Time (34:15). MLB postseason is here and we got a good one tonight. The New York Yankees take on the Cleveland Indians and Gary Sanchez is not in the lineup. The Yankees say it's a 'catching decision'.... yea right. Let me explain this personal catcher decision (36:45). What else is happening in the playoffs? Josh Donaldson... the multi-million dollar man for the Minnesota Twins... not on the active roster... uh-oh (39:15). We'll end today with a list of wait to sees and how they went. Everything we learned from MLB regular season and Wild Card predictions (9/28)

Here's everything we learned from MLB regular season. The season was in jeopardy to and no one thought we'd have a season, but it's playoff time. When we look back on the 2020 season what will we most remember? Let's start with the fighting between MLB and MLBPA (0:06). What about the amount of games? Well, 60 games is too little, but 162 games may be too many (1:15). Players need Spring Training in the worst way (7:20). Who is the best value signing in the past couple of years? He plays for the Yankees (10:05). What about the Red Sox season? Now that Ron Roenicke lasted just one season... what will that team do (13:00)? What about the Phillies and Angels? Disaster (15:00). What was the biggest takeaway? We all missed baseball (17:45). Let's get to the Wild Card round predictions! Who will make it through (21:15)? The final Power 5 conference has spoken: the Pac-12 is returning to play (9/25)

Today's word of the day is 'Gary Coleman' as in "What you talkin' bout Willis!?" as in what are you trying to say as in Oregon president Michael Schill said the Pac-12 returning to play college football HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MONEY. Excuse me? This decision to play was SOLELY about money (0:06). We hate having to talk about the same things over and over and over again, but Adam Gase loves to provide content. What could he possibly say now that caught our attention? Well, the New York Jets are banged up and when asked about who will play wide receiver for team he said this... (8:25) Who's watching the NBA right now? The officials are. Eyes close on the Lakers-Nuggets because the league really really wants the Lakers in the Finals (12:22). So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me about the new MLB deal with Turner and what it meant for team spending. Do these billions mean anything for team payroll? Allow me to answer (21:15). Review - The Right Stuff (31:00). How is Steve Cohen already making announcements about the New York Mets hiring a new president when he's not the owner yet? This is a very perplexing situation. Let's discuss this (35:00). It's been four years since the tragic death of Marlins pitcher Jośe Fernández. I want to take this time to remember him and his greatness (41:15). Explaining verdict in Breonna Taylor ruling; Biggest stories in MLB (9/24)

Today's word of the day is 'tragedy' as in "not all tragedy is a crime" as in explaining what happened with the verdict in Kentucky in the Breonna Taylor case. It has been a big topic in this country especially in the sports world. Athletes and celebrities have been calling for months for the officers in Louisville, Ky to be arrested in Breonna Taylor's death. So let me explain right now what a grand jury is, how this ruling came to be, and why a settlement was reached. These are just facts about the case. No opinion.....(0:06) Kansas City Royals GM Dayton Moore has scathing words for the MLBPA. This is about the instructional league. What is this issue that he has? Why is it so important (14:50)? So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me if I would fire the team doctor for the Los Angeles Chargers after what happened to starting QB Tyrod Taylor. What happened to him? He had his lung punctured by the team doctor while getting an injection for a rib injury... just before kick off (25:00)! Review - Challenger: Final Flight (34:00). Let's run through some big MLB headlines. The San Diego Padres are in trouble. Mike Clevinger left Wednesday's game after an inning with a biceps injury and that is bad news. What will happen come playoff time if he can't pitch (39:15)? Trevor Bauer is going to win the NL Cy Young. He is pitching like a real threat and now the Cincinnati Reds are in a good playoff position (41:25). Ending today with some NBA talk. Will the Denver Nuggets tie the series at two with the Los Angeles Lakers (44:50)? MLB commissioner Rob Manfred says 2021 postseason expansion will be different than 2020 (9/23)

Today's word of the day is 'marginalize' as in to treat as insignificant or peripheral as in what MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said about this season's postseason format. Why would he say that? This postseason was expanded to 16 teams, but it won't be like that next season. Manfred said they spoke about 14 teams for a 'regular' year. What about the World Series? Manfred said he wants fans in the stands (0:06). What's happening in the NBA? Not on the court, I'm talking off the court. Adam Silver spoke on Tuesday and said the league likely won't start until January 2021 now. One of the biggest threats to the NBA bubble is not just covid, but also the impact on the mental health of the players. This is why the league cannot afford a bubble again for a full season (13:05). So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me about the Denver Nuggets-Los Angeles Lakers series. They wanted to know how critical the Game 3 win was for the Nuggets (21:00). Review - A Beautiful Planet (30:00). Let's talk about Bruce Arians and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. First it was his comments on Tom Brady. Now it's his comments on Rob Gronkowski. What have we learned about this situation (34:20)? We'll end today talking about masks again. The NFL fined more coaches for not wearing masks properly. The total money fined is now at $1.75M in ONE WEEKEND alone! Will this continue (41:35)? NFL hands down massive fine for masks; Are Mets targeting Brian Cashman from Yankees? (9/22)

Today's word of the day is 'somebody stop me!' as in Jim Carey as in The Mask as in NFL coaches were fined HUGE money for not wearing a mask this weekend. Not really not wearing a mask, but not wearing it properly. What do these fines mean? Were these too big of fines? Let's talk about it (0:06). Michael Jordan is starting a NASCAR team with driver Denny Hamlin. His first driver... Bubba Wallace. Jordan is dipping his toes into the NASCAR waters... why (9:40)? MLB continues to show that they are now 'woke'. The league announced yesterday that MLB and MLBPA would donate $10M to Players Alliance. Let's discuss where and what this money is going to (16:35). Review - Top 5 Billy Murray movies (23:45). What's Steve Cohen doing today? Rumors and rumors and rumors are coming out about moves he'd like to make as owner of the New York Mets. He still hasn't been voted in as the new owner and now we have reports that Brian Cashman could be moving from the Yankees to the Mets as the team's new GM... NOT A CHANCE (28:30). Let's get back to the NFL. Matt Patricia has been a complete failure as the head coach of the Detroit Lions. When should a team fire a coach (36:30)? NFL weekend overshadowed by death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg (9/21)

Today's word of the day is 'fervent' as in the final words of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Who was she? A legend, that's who. Let me fill in some listeners on who she was and what she meant to this country. Not only was she one of the most prominent Supreme Court justices ever... she lived a fascinating life of purpose (0:06). The show goes on; on the field and off the field. What happened this weekend in the NFL? Injuries. All the injuries. Saquon Barkley, Christian McCaffrey, Nick Bosa, Cam Sutton, Drew Lock, Jimmy Garoppolo, Davante Adams and MORE! It was a horrible weekend for injuries (12:40). Review - 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards (27:00). Where's MLB at right now? We're entering the final week of the shortened covid regular season. Who's clinched? The New York Yankees are finally back to playing good baseball. Besides that it's boring in the American League, the real race is in the National League. Justin Verlander missed the entire season with a forearm injury and now he needs Tommy John surgery. Oh boy, he's owed $33M next season and will miss it, his final year on his deal. The worst part about the shortened season? The Washington Nationals. Last season the team was 19-31 and won the World Series. This season the team is 19-30 and will miss the postseason (32:45). Celtics coach Brad Stevens was in danger of his locker room losing control after falling 0-2 to Miami Heat. The team came out and thrashed the Heat in Game 3. How did he do this (43:15)?
