090: Is Your Content Accessible to Everyone? with Erin Perkins

Your audience needs to be able to consume your content. They need to know where it is, how to get their hands (or eyes or ears) on it and they need to be able to physically consume it. But what if your audience has an impairment that makes consuming your content difficult? Accessibility might be in the back of your mind like it was for me, but it's time to think about it--and do something about it too. Today's guest, Erin Perkins, approached me in a Facebook group to ask how I was going to ensure my upcoming summit was accessible to everyone. I thought I had my bases covered, but after talking to Erin I realized that there was so much more to consider. Erin shares insight from her own experience of being deaf and how some of the new platforms out there (ahem...Clubhouse) that feel so accessible are really far from it. Tune in and be sure to grab her toolkit. It's what I'm using in my business moving forward! You can also head to the web page for this episode for a full transcript (something I'll be doing with every episode from now on). Mentioned in This Episode Accessibility Resource Guide & Toolkit The Content Experiment Summit About Erin Perkins Erin Perkins is an online business manager and accessibility educator. Through her business, Mabely Q, she empowers women-owned small businesses to grow bigger and serve better, taking behind-the-scenes admin work off their plates and advising her clients how to create a more inclusive environment for their communities. 087: Being True to Yourself in Business with Helen Tremethick

Being true to yourself and your values is the only way to live, in my humble opinion. But doing that in a big, public space like your business--or the internet--can feel hard. But wouldn't you rather be yourself and attract the right people to you every day than having calls with people who aren't sure...and who don't quite know if you're for them (and vice versa)...and who don't get you incredibly excited to get to work each day? Today on the podcast, guest Helen Tremethick and I talk about why being yourself is the only way to be, and why clarity is SO much better than creativity when it comes to the content you create every day. Listen in! Mentioned in This Episode Eff Your Elevator Pitch Love and Badassery The Content Experiment Summit About Helen Tremethick Helen Tremethick is a brand voice strategist & business coach who helps entrepreneurs find the courage, confidence, and clarity they need to grow and scale their businesses. Helen lives in an old farmhouse in the middle of the Ontario countryside, which means if you ever hop on a coaching call with her, you might hear roosters. 84. Why Content is Really One Big Experiment

Content and marketing is a huge struggle for so many business owners, mostly because you're afraid you'll get something wrong. And anything less than perfect is unacceptable, right? Nope, wrong! Done is always better than perfect and imperfection shows that you're human. Just put your content out there, see how it lands, then make adjustments as you go. Of course, you still need to do your homework and talk to your audience about what they need and want from you. But rather than try to make every piece of content you produce perfect, make little changes to your strategy, your cadence and your messaging as you go. First, you'll finally publish something consistently. And your audience will appreciate the fact that you're not trying to do everything perfectly. Not sure how to do this? Listen in to today's episode! I'm announcing The Content Experiment Summit, a five-day summit for coaches and course creators who are ready to uplevel their content. I'm also sharing the personal reason behind the name. Mentioned in This Episode The Content Experiment Summit

083: Prepping for 2021 Without the Overwhelm

Getting ready for the new year is always one of my favorite things. There's just nothing like the quiet of the inbox around the holidays and the behind the scenes planning that goes on. The biggest downside, I think, is that there are so many possibilities. It's tempting to start everything fresh and to change course completely. This year I'm taking a bit of a different approach. I'm looking at some of the little things in my business and my life and planning next year based on those. They include my values, my calendar, my goals and all those things that I keep meaning to do differently but never do. If you're struggling with how to not throw it all out and start over, listen in to this episode. Mentioned in This Episode Episode 78: Planning Out Your Content for 2021...Sort Of
