Follow Christ’s Humility
Rob Conti | Christian School RetreatToday, Rob walks through Philippians 2 and Isaiah 6, looking into the humility of Jesus. We are called to serve and love one another. This goes against the grain of our fallen nature. Christ gives us our example to do this. We were not made to be glorified but to glorify God through our lives. This is in opposition to our modern culture that celebrates exalting ourselves over others.Let’s follow the example of Christ. Jesus is worthy to be worshipped because of who He is. And we are free to worship Him in humility. ResourcesPhilippians 2Isaiah 6Romans 1Learn more about our student and adult conferences at Swoutfitters.com. P.S. How To Fight Complacency With The Gospel
Zach Mabry | Christian School RetreatWhat is the Gospel? Sometimes we use Christian language without knowing what it means. Even in Christian environments we need to be reminded of the Gospel. During this session with a Christian school, Zach walked through 1 Corinthians 15 to study how Paul explained the Gospel. He preached the very message he received. When Jesus saves you, He starts making you more like Him. This is a finished work that is still happening in your life. So what do we need to do right now? Hold fast to the Gospel. It needs to define your life—everyday. We need to be reminded of it so we don’t grow complacent toward this life-transforming reality. Jesus takes our sin from us, pays the penalty for it, and gives us His righteousness. This shouldn’t happen, it’s an unbelievable act of grace. The good news is so good because the bad news is so bad. There is no other hope for your salvation. It would be easy to coast through a Christian environment, say the right things, and not actually live out the Gospel. Fight to pursue the Lord in your life daily. Faith Without Works
Gar Bozeman | Christian School Retreat True faith will bear fruit. In this session, Gar walked through James 2 and discussed what true faith looks like. James teaches us that faith without works is dead. You can’t lean on your religion or church for salvation. Just because you have a knowledge of Jesus, doesn’t mean you possess saving faith. There must be evidence behind your faith. Don’t depend on legalism, but remember that your actions point to the your faith in Christ.Let’s be doers who act—not hearers who forget. Let’s look at Scripture to remind us how we should live. Scripture exposes our flaws and our need for Christ. The Holy Spirit will do the work for us, but we need to be diligent to pursue the Lord. If You're a Disciple Then...
Al Gilbert | Missions Conference 2021 | Saturday NightAt the recent SWO Missions Conference, Al Gilbert walked through what being a disciple really looks like. Christ makes us into something entirely different—someone who resembles His character rather than our flesh. This doesn’t mean that you’ll be perfect or won’t ever make a mistake. "It’s about direction, not perfection." – Al GilbertIf you’re not being changed, you might not be following Christ. He makes us more like Him and we’re called to be on mission with Him. Let’s care more about His mission than our own. How can the Lord use you right now to advance the Gospel? The harvest is abundant but the workers are few. We’re called to share the hope we have with lost souls. Seek opportunities to help people around you who are hurting. Don’t do it to impress them but to love them well.We don’t need to make the world a better place before people go to hell. The Son of Man came “to seek and to save the lost.” Ask the Lord to help you see hurting people around you and prepare you to go anywhere for His glory. What it Means to be an Ambassador for Christ
Spencer Davis | Missions Conference 2021 | Friday NightBelievers, we are called to take the Gospel to the ends of the Earth. Whether we go overseas or stay home we need to be sharing the Gospel. With this in mind, how can we prepare now? In this message, Spencer walks through why sharing the Gospel is so crucial to your walk with the Lord. We’ve been commanded to share. What are you going to do with that command?Failing to share the Gospel is failing to obey. We need to see the reality of hell and care for the eternal souls around us. We need to feel the weight of those who stand condemned and share the hope we have with them. But you can’t share it if you don’t know it. You’re an ambassador for Christ. You’re not going to be excited about missions if you’re not excited about the Gospel. Immerse yourself in the message of the Gospel and share what you learn with the world. Walking in Repentance
Rob Conti | Be Strong Men's Conference | Sunday MorningThe Lord has compassion on those who fear Him. Rather than giving us the punishment we deserve, He instead shows us grace and mercy for our sins. Today, Rob looks at Psalm 51 and what we can learn from David’s repentance. David commits adultery with Bathsheba and then has her husband, Uriah, killed in combat to cover up his sin. Any man would say that David deserved wrath. But God is not a man. He is patient with us and slow to anger. In Psalm 51 we see David’s repentant heart and His plea for mercy. David pleads his case on the basis of the nature and character of God. However God’s wrath still has to go somewhere. God lifts it off of us and places it on Christ so that we might become righteous. His blood is more powerful than any sin. The consequences for our sins are temporary and God uses them to sanctify us. Let’s walk in repentance and share the hope we have in Christ. Lessons Learned from David's Failures
Brody Holloway | Be Strong Men's Conference | Saturday NightThe life of David gives us a clear warning against growing complacent in our walk with the Lord. David gets distracted and too comfortable and fails to finish strong. There are clear lessons we as men can learn from his life. We are at war for our own personal holiness and the lives of those around us. No one ever drifts towards holiness, instead, doing nothing in your spiritual pursuit, will make you drift farther away.Men, let’s commit to finish strong. Surround yourself with brothers who love you enough to speak truth when it comes to your personal holiness. You need to guard the authority and responsibility you have been given as a man and surrender it daily to the Lord. There are no days off in this life. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and pursue Him. Addiction & Idolatry
Shawn Clark | Be Strong Men's Conference | BreakoutIn today’s breakout, Shawn Clark shares his testimony of how the Lord saved Him from addiction. He looks at what Scripture has to say about addiction and how on some level we all struggle with it. The Bible calls addiction idolatry. When we don’t worship God we will worship something else. The problem starts with our hearts. We were created to worship God alone. He knows you and nothing is hidden from Him. We will try to fill our needs with anything but God, yet the only source of true help is Jesus. We need the Gospel to rescue us daily. There’s help and hope from addiction and idolatry but it’s only in Jesus. A Virtual Theater for Spiritual Warfare
Zach Mabry | Be Strong Men's Conference| BreakoutBelievers, we need to be on guard. This culture wants your heart and mind. The ways we believe and think are being attacked right now and we need to be prepared for it. Our culture is constantly telling a narrative that is opposed to the Gospel. As eternal image bearers of God, we need to rest in knowing that this world is not our home. Guard yourself on social media and see it for what it truly is: a virtual theater for spiritual warfare. If you’re going to be attacked by what you’re saying, make sure what you’re saying is the Gospel. Don’t just be offensive for the sake of being offensive. The Gospel is the right kind of offensive that calls out sin. We are willing to bear that offense because the ramifications of sin are eternal separation from God. We’re in a battle of ideas and influencers. You are always being shaped by your influences. Let God’s Word be what shapes you. Seek Christ and renew your mind daily.
