SWO21: The Goodness of God
Brody Holloway | SWO21 | Monday NightBrody opens SWO21 by teaching on the goodness of God. We are invited to not just know the goodness of God, but to taste it. This is an experiential knowledge of God that is open to all believers. God’s goodness can be seen in His attributes of love, mercy, grace, and patience towards us. In Christ, we have received all of God’s goodness. As recipients of these attributes, we should seek to show them to others. Let us remind ourselves daily that we have received these things first, so that we can faithfully display them to others.Learn more about our student and adult conferences at Swoutfitters.com. P.S. Wisdom of Living
Spicy Ridenour | Respond Women's Retreat | BreakoutWisdom comes from the Lord. God gives us fruits of the Spirit so that we can know Him better—and so his glory will be shown. We are called to love our enemies, have joy in all things, and be thankful. His Spirit enables us to do these things well. In this session, Spicy Ridenour shared stories and examples from her life when she has seen the Lord work and taught her to be more like Him. God’s plan for your life is much better than your agenda. Social Media as a Purposed Resistance
Zach Mabry | Respond Women's Retreat | BreakoutSocial media is a misrepresentation of the world we live in. It is teaching us what to think and how to think. We need to be on guard to not lose our Christianity when we log in online. You will be attacked for your faith, so don’t be surprised by that. But, if you’re being attacked online make sure it’s for the Gospel.Let’s be controlled by the Truth. Remember that you’re in a battle for your heart and mind. Beholding Christ in Every Moment
Bethany Clark | Respond Women's Retreat | BreakoutIn this session, Bethany Clark walks through Colossians 1:1-14 where Paul admonishes the Church. The Colossians are not denying Christ but they’ve dethroned Him. False narratives often sound spiritual. We need to guard ourselves against accepting false doctrines over time. Bethany explains how that often happens in small degrees. Paul prayed for the church to grow in the knowledge of God’s will. You and I need to strive to grow in the Lord. You won’t be perfect. But, be diligent to pursue the Lord and guard yourself against false doctrines. Amy Davis | Respond Women's Retreat | BreakoutOur goal is for our kids to know Jesus. As moms, we should be striving to promote intentional Gospel-centered conversations with our kids. Christ Makes us Whole
Brody Holloway | Respond 2021 | Sunday MorningIn this session, Brody walks through the life of Rahab and how the Lord saves her. Her story is a message of hope—in-tune with suffering. Rahab is an Amorite, and a prostitute. He shatters gender, cultural, and racial barriers while saving her. Our Lord cares deeply about the most abused. He shows her how valuable she is through this miraculous rescue. There is a God coming to save you. We serve a God that is bigger than our brokenness. Your sin is not bigger than the Gospel. Your brokenness doesn’t define you. ResourcesJohn 4Ephesians 2: 4-7Learn more about our student and adult conferences at Swoutfitters.com. P.S. Consistently Walking with Christ
Bethany Clark | Respond Women's Retreat | Saturday NightBelievers, you are called to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord. In today's session, Bethany walks through Colossians 1. Paul wrote to believers, encouraging them to continue to walk in the Spirit. Our hearts will deceive us. Guard yourself against falling off track and accepting the ways of the world. God’s will for your life is sanctification. He has set you apart for a special purpose—to make you holy. Satan wants to distract and derail you, but Jesus is enough. He is all you need. The Fruit of the Spirit is Cultivated by Christ
Sarah Conti | Respond 2021 | Saturday MorningFruits of the Spirit are evidence of our union with Christ. When you come to know the Lord, the Holy Spirit begins dwelling in you. The Spirit then guides you to produce fruit and make you look more like Christ. If we claim to be united with Christ, but see no fruit in our lives then we need to address it. In this Respond women’s session, Sarah Conti walks through each fruit of the Spirit mentioned in 1 Corinthians 13. There are fruits of the Spirit and fruits of the flesh. We need to look more like the Lord and less like our flesh.Counterfeit fruit won’t last. We can’t decorate our lives to look clean—like we’re “good Christian women”. We will fail in this sometimes but the Lord is so patient with our failures and continues sanctifying us. Let’s walk in a manner worthy of the Gospel and produce fruit that looks more like the Lord. The Fruit of the Spirit is Christ
Jennifer Jolly | Respond Women's Retreat | Friday NightWhat kind of soil are you offering to the Lord? At our recent women’s conference, Jennifer Jolly walks through Galatians 5 and the fruits of the Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is the character sketch of Christ. The Holy Spirit in us halts the work of the flesh and the flesh stops the work of the Spirit. Believers, we need to be disciplined to cast out the tendencies of the flesh. We need to clean out our fleshly desires and instead walk by the Spirit. When you walk with Christ, God will impede the works of the Spirit on you. We need to guard which outside voices we’re listening to. But, we can’t guard ourselves against the ways of this world if we’re not walking with Christ. Let the Spirit lead you by pursuing the Lord through reading His word and prayer. Take Up Your Cross, Jesus is Worth Following
Rob Conti | Christian School RetreatIn Luke 9, Jesus lays out the terms for what it means to be a Christian. What we say about Jesus is important. What we think about Jesus is important. Our world is becoming more hostile toward Him every day. We can’t take the middle ground—you either follow Him or you don’t. He laid down His life for us and took on the wrath that we deserve. He calls us to deny ourselves and follow Him. There is no other hope but Christ. He doesn’t rescue people so they can go right back to sinning. You’re not saved now so you can do whatever you want. You’re now a follower so you have to fight against your flesh. Let’s get busy serving and loving others. Pattern your life after Jesus and do everything with the Cross in mind.
