Zach Mabry | SWO21 | Youth Pastor BreakoutThe culture we live in is overwhelmed by the tenets of postmodern theory that say that the truth of God’s existence is irrelevant and that whatever you believe is fine for you. But in reality, either God exists or He doesn’t. We need to be equipped to teach our students that not only does God’s existence matter, but it is the most important thing that we need to have settled. There is a fundamental conflict between the Christian worldview and the materialistic worldview and all of our other beliefs find their foundation in this. What we are talking about is a battle of worldviews.In this session, we are going to compare the Christian worldview and the atheistic worldview to show that the more consistently you hold the Christian worldview the more it makes sense of the world we live in, and the more consistently you hold the atheistic worldview the less it actually makes sense of the world in which we live.Learn more about our student and adult conferences at Swoutfitters.com. P.S. Rob Conti | SWO21 | Friday MorningGod’s love is on a completely different level than we could ever imagine. In Exodus 34, Moses had achieved a place of relationship with the Lord that he asked a VERY personal question. He asked to see God with his physical eyes. But this was impossible—the power of Yahweh’s glory would kill him!“The LORD descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. The LORD passed before him and proclaimed, ‘The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children’s children, to the third and the fourth generation.” And Moses quickly bowed his head toward the earth and worshiped. And he said, “If now I have found favor in your sight, O Lord, please let the Lord go in the midst of us, for it is a stiff-necked people, and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance.’” (Exodus 34:5–9)The steadfast love of Yahweh endures forever. It is eternal! All the fullness of God dwelled in Christ Jesus, and went through Hell and back to take action on that love.When we were rebels against Him, in the perfect time of human history, God died for us! He knows the end from the beginning. Why did he let that pain happen to me? We don’t know why, but we can never question the love of God! There are scars on his hands and feet to prove it.“For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly...God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:5-8)So now, let’s repent. Take the posture of David in Psalm 51. “Have mercy on me oh God…” (King David). Jesus already drank the cup of God’s wrath—because he has chosen to love you. Our Lord does not change his mind. There is no sin bigger than God’s love. No person is beyond the reach of his love.Let’s also show our love by our obedience to him. True worship and true faith will also result in obedience to God and his Word. Be encouraged, Christian. We will one day behold all the fullness of God. Spencer Davis | SWO21 | Wednesday MorningHoliness is an attribute of God. He is light and in Him there is no darkness. He is holy and calls you to be holy. This is an impossible standard. On your own you’re set for failure, but we have hope knowing that we’re not on our own. Christ died to forgive you from your sins and to empower you to fight them. No sin is stronger than God’s grace.There has to be a change in your wants in order for there to be a change in your actions. Oftentimes we don’t want to be free. But Jesus can change your desires. Incommunicable attributes are unique to God, whereas communicable attributes can be imitated by us to a degree.As we study the attributes of God, it is inevitable that we will run into mystery. This should not deter us from learning about God. Instead we should be driven to love and appreciate God more deeply for the fact that He is so much beyond us. All that we know of the mystery of God is revealed to us in Scripture. Brody Holloway | SWO21 | Friday NightEvery human being will eventually come face to face with the reality that Jesus is far more than a teacher or healer or prophet or human. Jesus is God. Jesus’ followers see this reality in Mark 4 and 5.The reality of Jesus’ godhood can be intimidating, and rightly so. His power and authority is terrifying to those who stand in its way. However, we see that Jesus also acts out of great compassion. Rob Conti | SWO21 | Thursday MorningGod is the ancient of days. He has no beginning and no end. He is unlike anything else and He reigns in majesty and power. Jesus wants us to see that He is the Son of Man. That He is God. We worship Him because He is worthy of it. Our hope, the King of the universe became one of us. He humbled Himself to die in our place. We need to go and get busy building the kingdom. Everything that we do should be an act of worship. This is the vital mindset that should govern all our decisions. Brody Holloway | SWO21 | Tuesday NightGod is absolutely unchanging. He is unchanging in His Essence, His Attributes, and His Counsel. Even when aspects of God’s character seem at odds to each other, He is perfectly consistent and true to Himself. For example, the Justice and Mercy of God may seem contradictory, but they are unified in the work of Jesus Christ. In Jesus, perfect justice is served, and we who believe are brought into God’s unceasing mercy. The truth that God does not change is a strengthening reality for believers, but it is a sobering reality for the unbeliever. Brody Holloway | SWO21 | Monday NightBrody opens SWO21 by teaching on the goodness of God. We are invited to not just know the goodness of God, but to taste it. This is an experiential knowledge of God that is open to all believers. God’s goodness can be seen in His attributes of love, mercy, grace, and patience towards us. In Christ, we have received all of God’s goodness. As recipients of these attributes, we should seek to show them to others.
