Misty loves self-help and is earnestly trying to improve her life, while Lisa hates anyone telling her what to do. Together, we bring a much-needed critical eye (and healthy dose of humor) to the wildly-unregulated world of self-help, sharing what we learn along the way. Matthew Paul Walker is an English scientist and professor of neuroscience and psychology at the University of California, Berkeley. He graduated with a degree in neuroscience from the University of Nottingham and received a PhD in neurophysiology from Newcastle University. Previously, he was a professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He is also the founder and director of the Center for Human Sleep Science. He has received numerous funding awards from the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health, and is a Kavli Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences.
