Ep 263 - Hall Of Fame | Dr Tapan Patel: How To Fix Your Body Without Star Studded Genetics

On this episode of RNT Fitness Radio, I’m pleased to be joined by Dr Tapan Patel, who’s been on an incredible journey with us over the past few years. It all starts when Tapan suffered with extremely rough symptoms of covid-19 very early on, before any of the lockdowns. After recovering, he proceeded to “celebrate” by gaining about 10-15kg in the space of two months, until his trigger moment, when he ran out of any clothes that fit him!    Having tried in-person personal trainers for many years, as well as trying to achieve the body he’d always wanted for over 25 years, he decided enough was enough, and he wanted a blueprint that worked for busy, time-strapped high performers like himself, who didn’t have star studded genetics. That’s when he came across RNT, and after being skeptical about working with an online company, he later says in this episode, it was the single best investment of his life, just as he turns 50 years young this year. You can also read Tapan’s case study in the show notes below.   Timestamps:    00:30 - What are your trigger moments that led you into joining RNT?  04:38 - At what point did you say that enough is enough? 07:23 - What was it like, your experience with Covid?  13:14 - What didn’t work when you had a personal trainer?  17:10 - How are you balancing nutrition and training as a busy entrepreneur and a high performer?  22:25 - As things go back to normal, bars open up, how do you keep track of your  27:16 - Travel tips 34:10 - How did you battle snacking and picking up a glass of alcohol after your photoshoot?  40:05 - Running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours 45:33 - What really works for you long term after a photoshoot?  48:49 - What’s the biggest lifestyle solution you've learned since your photoshoot? 53:20 - What are the key pieces of advice you would give to someone who is just starting their journey?  57:05 - How’s the physical being the vehicle for you?    Thanks so much for listening! Ep. 256 Hall of Fame | Rishi Patel - Why Mental Health Matters

Rishi had struggled for years trying to find the optimal training and nutrition plan to suit his lifestyle. Being an extremely busy entrepreneur with multiple start ups, he knew that to really step up his game he needed to look after his physical health.   Having struggled with anxiety for most of his life, he also knew the benefits of exercise, routine and a healthy diet. The thing is, he didn’t have any proper guidance on how to successfully implement all of these factors which led to years of programme hopping, trying various diets and “biohacks” that never got him anywhere.   Finally, he had enough and decided to join RNT for the guidance and accountability he really needed to transform. From the start, Rishi went all in and managed to make very consistent gains for a long period of time.   The biggest challenges that arose came from the initial COVID lockdowns as this meant having to train at home for months on end which really hit him quite hard. He developed a strong liking to the gym as it could be the one place where he can switch off and give 100% attention to himself.   Because of all the progress Rishi made prior to the lockdowns, his attitude was far better in comparison to when he started. If the lockdowns happened prior to him joining RNT, the old Rishi would have just stopped exercising, neglected his self care and ended up feeling sorry for himself.   Instead, he used this as an opportunity to double down on his business ventures while simultaneously getting into the shape of his life. Inside this podcast, we also dive into his newest venture, Zeal, a mental health app that helps manage your mental wellbeing and connect you to someone you can talk to whenever you need to chat, or as Rishi likes to say, your always happy place!   This is a very real and honest account of Rishi’s mental and physical journey, so I’m excited for you to dive in.   Timestamps:    04:10 - What triggered Rishi into joining RNT 07:50 - Rishi’s health condition 10:55 - How did his heart condition affected his mindset and mental health 14:10 - Rishi’s mental health 20:08 - What started changing when he focused on his fitness 23:00 - The physical being the vehicle for him 32:07 - No one teaches us how to deal with pur mental health 37:37 - Rishi started to talk about using medication for his mental health online to educate other people 43:30 - Zeal - The Mental Health app   Thanks so much for listening!
