Lucy Herrero's Bio:
After earning my bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I entered the regenerative medicine world to fulfill my purpose of helping others through my career. I strive to serve with excellence as I collaborate in the optimization and operation of the LUNA200 platform at Humacyte. In addition to my primary job functions, I was recently recognized for leading and implementing a novel sitewide alarm management procedure, as well as developing program in Matlab for the quality control of raw materials. One of my favorite achievements is publishing an article at the Human Movement Science Journal as a primary author in 2020. Currently, my goal is to build expertise in tech transfer and knowledge management. Outside of work you can find me hiking with my dog or reading fantasy novels.

14 - Choosing and Leveraging a BME Program for Your Career Goals: Closing the Gap Between Industry and Higher Ed with Aileen Huang-Saad
Dr. Aileen Huang-Saad is an Associate Professor of Bioengineering at Northeastern University and the Director of Life Sciences and Engineering Programs at The Roux Institute (Portland, Maine). She is Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Springer’s Biomedical Engineering Education, Past Division Chair for the American Society of Engineering Education’s Biomedical Engineering Division, and a member of the National Academy of Science Roundtable on Systemic Change in Undergraduate STEM Education. She also serves on the Maine State Workforce Board. Dr. Huang-Saad’s current research areas are entrepreneurship, innovation, and transforming higher education. She received her PhD from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and an MBA from University of Michigan Ross School of Business.

13 - LEAN Six Sigma with Kevin Grayson
Kevin Grayson provides an introduction to LEAN Six Sigma, and subsequent tools and problem solving structures such as: DMAIC, DMADV, the 8 wastes (DOWNTIME), 5S, and value stream mapping.
Kevin Grayson is the assistant director of technology management at NC State Industry Expansion Solutions (IES). He provides strategic coaching and training in areas such as competitiveness review, business strategy development, new product introduction, innovation, advanced manufacturing methods, performance excellence and market growth. Kevin also supports other areas of IES including quality management systems and Six Sigma instruction. Kevin is an adjunct instructor in the Biomedical Engineering department where he teaches DFSS and certifies senior design projects. Kevin is also a Baldrige Examiner and AHCA Master Examiner and serves on the TNCPE Board of Directors. Kevin has been an AHCA master examiner for the AHCA/NCAL program since 2016.
Kevin is a frequent speaker at conferences and professional meetings, typically speaking on subjects such as innovation, performance excellence or Six Sigma. Kevin has B.S. degrees in both electrical engineering and economics from NC State University, an MBA from Brenau University and an M.S. in electrical engineering from UNC-Charlotte. Kevin is certified as a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt and Master Black Belt (MBB).

Abby Scheer, Alan Rosenbaum, MD, and Chandler Sizer comprise the Cervu team. Cervu is an early-stage venture developing an intervaginal device to help cancer survivors with dyspareunia perform pelvic floor physical therapy at home. The c-corp originally formed as a student team in the MedTech Innovation + Entrepreneurship M.S. Program at UNC and NC State. On this episode, listen to Abby, Alan, and Chandler talk about Cervu's mission, and how they have gone about identifying an unmet need, executing business and design conceptualization, and working with end users during design iteration. Erik Andersen, MS, BSN, RN was brought on to Cambridge Design Partnership's (CDP) Insight & Strategy and Human Factors teams as a seasoned critical care nurse working in both ER and ICU environments for nearly 10 years, and also as a 2021 grad of the MedTech Innovation and Entrepreneurship M.S. Program at the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering at UNC and NC State.
As an Insights Research Associate at Cambridge Design Partnership, Erik helps CDP's clients with understanding the clinical-users’ and patient-users’ perspectives in medical device development.
